Since first playing this course nearly 2 years ago, we played a couple of weeks ago and found the course a 100% improvement from our previous-rounds! We invited friends to play recently and they also remarked how improved the course was versus their last play as well! Plus, we are told that many upcoming and positive changes are getting closer to fruition! Moving forward, We will include Mt Dora Golf club as one of our favorite courses!
Short but challenging
Short little course but was pretty challenging. Small elevated greens weren’t the easiest to hit and stay on with the greens hard and rolling fast. Short game got challenged. Fairways were good and greens as well. If they could grow out there rough, this could be a real gem. Only bad thing I would say is we were the 1st group off, only a twosome flying thru the front in about an hr and half and got haulted on the back for a few holes cause they decided to throw a older foursome to start their round on their back? Probably members but that made no sense and slow down the hole course and probably upset their other members behind us. Luckily they let us pass them on hole 13 but still felt bad for everyone else. Besides that, would recommend and play this course again.
This course is designed compact with mostly straight fairways. Great place to learn how to play, but could be dangerous to those on the holes surrounding you as they are on top of each other. The course has few obstacles and well maintained greens.
Great course, great condition, great price. I recommend it
Course in Good Shape
Had not played this course in many years. Good to see that they have kept the course in good shape. Greens were very nice. Don't like the fact that most greens are mounded, but that's just the way the course was designed. Fairways are OK; bunkers good. Only problem was the pace of play. It was a beautiful day and everyone decided to come out and play Mt. Dora. Not sure that a ranger would have helped; the course was just packed with people. Other than Pace, everything else was good.
Mt Dora Golf Glub
What a great old florida course. You will not see a layout like this very often in Florida. The elevation of the course along with the elevation of most of the greens are not found in Florida vey often, Greens, fairways are in great condition. Tee boxes and first cut of rough could use a little tender care.
Will play again and often.
Great value for money. Clubhouse can use some work as it’s stuck in the 50’s. Round was $22, how can you go wrong. Tee boxes okay, fairways a little dried out and greens fast and a little bumpy. My only real problem is around the greens, after the first cut, they leave all the clippings and it’s almost impossible to pitch out of. Elevation changes are fun and make this a challenging course. With a little TLC, this could be a great course.
New golf carts with gps
Great shape best i have seen greens perfect fairways good t boxes excellent
Best keep secret in central Florida
Awesome greens, challenging shots, great people and I only lost one ball. All they need is better food selection.
Great course very friendly and helpful staff
We played two days in a row here the staff was very friendly and helpful especially Rick who checked us in .
Tight fairways and greens
The fairways and greens are in excellent condition. The fairways and greens are very tight. If you slice or hook, you will be on another fairway or green. I felt like I might hit someone most of the time. No houses to worry about along the fairways.
Good pace. Lots of hills. Tough bunkers. Perfect length.
Never going back
Unorganized, rude, indifferent towards non league players.
Since the last time I played there, I noticed a tremendous improvement, the fairways, and Green are in fantastic shapes, only the beginning of most the fairways need some conditioner.
In general, I was very impressed with the new look of this golf course,
First Time @ Mt. Dora
The course was a little deceiving at first in that the starting holes were on the easy side...BUT...then you become entrapped.
Conditions were good...Weather was good...The panoramas were good in the hilly sections.
It was worth the drive up from Orlando and I will do it again.
There is some interesting history behind this course...and as an added bonus, the village of Mt. Doro is a must visit.
