Beautiful Day at Riviera Cancun

Beautiful course and well manicured. Controlled tee shots are a must. Wind was blowing 15-20 mph. I think this is common. If you hit the ball in the mangroves take a stoke and move on. Crocodiles and snakes are on the course. Putting was fast and undulated. Best to hit short of the hole or ball will roll off back of greens. I had to rent clubs, Callaway irons and woods. Paid $270, but that included cart, food and adult beverages after the round. Nothing like golf in paradise.

Nice review. Definitely sounds like paradise. Cant decide whether to bring my clubs or not. I might only play once. How much to rent clubs?

Thanks

Beautiful but bring extra golf balls!!

The course was very well laid out and interesting. Ocean view on one of the holes. And a crocodile on another! If you don't hit straight off of the tee, don't go here unless you bring an extra dozen balls. The fairways were very well manicured. The greens were massive but very slow. Overall, a nice day if you go in the afternoon when the rates are lower.

Riviera Cancun

Great value through golfnow.com, $96 after 1:00PM
The greens were a bit slow and bumpy but I think it's the nature of the grass. Fairways were in great shape,
wide and straight. Lots of H2O. Beware of crocs (not the shoes)Price includes food and drinks.
Unfortunately that encourages more drinkers than golfers which can slow things down.

Great course and staff but..

One of my favorite courses in Mexico. Great layout, great staff and great conditions. What could be wrong? The pace of play is way too slow and if by you are paying full price that really hurts.

Nice course. Doesn't drain when wet

nice layout. If u are not relatively straight off the tee, not the course for u. Course did not seem to drain well after rain the day before. Friendly staff at course. Pace of play great.

Flooded Conditions November 2015

We recently played Riviera Cancun on November 21st, with extremely high expectations from previous visits. I found a $68 morning tee time and thought that this was going to be great, until we got to the course and found out that 4 holes are out of play and 2 others have temporary tee boxes on the fairway. I realize that they cannot control the weather, and it sounds like they have had an excessive amount of rain recently, but it would have been nice to let us know before we arrived to find this out. The cart paths were under water on many holes and the fairways were very soggy. I would ask for the course conditions when booking, so that you are not disappointed.

Nice tract, but I wish I would have known

The staff was fabulous, Javier, Paco and the cart person were friendly attentive, food was good. This was an all-inclusive (Food, drinks and transportation) which was nice.
As far as the course, Let me preface this review by saying that I found out they had a bunch of rain the 2 week prior to my round. I called to find out the condition of the course. They did tell me that they had 4 hole closed for maintenance due to all the rain and there were repairing them for an upcoming qualifying tournament. I decided to play anyway, as they said I could play 1-4 a second time to make the 18 holes. What they didn't tell me was 2-3 of the remaining 14 holes had the tee boxes moved to the fairways (all 4 together) making some of the par 4 a par 3. There were at least 3-4 more holes where all of the tee boxes were on the forward tees. Additionally of the 14 holes that were "open" there was a huge amount) of heavy casual water everywhere, fairways, sand traps, rough, and cart path. I was actually surprised they were open. I had assumed that the 4 hole closed where damaged and under repair, not that the course was underwater and felt they should disclosed that when I called.

With all that said and removing the course conditions, this is very nice tract with some challenging holes. The fairways are fairly wide (although I could tell what was actually water vs. casual in some places). However, you'll need to hit fairly straight as after the first cutoff rough is trouble everywhere. If you tend to spray the ball you will lose a lot of them. Green rolled true, but where slow and not quite healed from a recent verti-cut.
I would like to play this course again, under better conditions.

Driving range is pretty lame with only a few flags and markers and it look like you’re hitting into a swap so now way to determine actually distance hit (coming from the altitude and thin air in Denver to heavy air at sea-level, this was an issue).

Great Course

The course was in excellent condition. You might consider playing one tee forward as the fairways did not have much roll due to being moist even though there was no rain recently. The greens rolled well with undulations and grain. It took a few holes to get used to the speed. This is an all inclusive golf so pick whatever you want from the beverage/snack cart whenever it comes around. Lunch after play was also included and was excellent. I played as a single and played in 2.5 hours at my pace. Very enjoyable.

Good back 9

In general the course is in a good shape, I didn't like the front nine, they are parallel to blvd kukulcan (hotels) very noisy, you have to play around 5 holes with cars passing beside you

Great

I booked on line . I waited for the twilight price . ( btw twilight starts @ 1:07 pm) I got to the course , the staff took my clubs and told me to check in. After paying for the round the women told me that it is an all inclusive course. They set me up with practice balls food drink and alcohol which was all included. When I got to the first tee I was amazed at how beautiful the course was. The course was laid out very nice with perfect fairways. I played two different rounds and if I have a chance I will play a third before I head back to the states.

A good course - bring extra golf balls

I enjoy playing Riviera Cancun. This was my third time - I did so once in 2013 and 2014 on visits to Cancun. The course is interesting but you lose a lot of golf balls, because off-line shots are in the swamp and jungle, and you can't find them - and you don't want to try because there are crocodiles. Course is in good condition, well maintained - holes are interesting and I would play there again.

Great Course!!

Was very impressed with the golf course and staff. I enjoyed a round with a twosome who let me play along. I would say the transportation service that was included was not set up prior to golf round. I never got a response to my email. The course did take me back after my round and that was great. I would give this course a great rating and I can't wait to play again.

Very playable and fair. Good value.

Great deal with GolfNow...direct offer from course was 2x final cost. Course conditions were excellent. Very healthy turf. Undulating greens were very receptive of approach shots. Fairways were wide and generous for relatively straight tee shots. Well placed bunkers could be avoided without difficulty. Greens were slow but putted true. Jack Nicholas layout favored power fades on most holes. Several holes were located around small ponds and added some diversity to mainly marsh/jungle habitat. Two holes (one green and one tee) offered view of Caribbean. Marsh area waters had significantly receded and left behind dry muddy conditions...but we're really not in play with most shots. Course provided transportation back to hotel and complimentary food and beverages on course and in clubhouse. Very friendly staff. Definitely a good value for the area which offers pricey golf options.

Exceptional staff, beautiful course

We were there in early May, played this course 3 times, found something new and challenging each day. Great pleasure to be greeted by Javier with a kind word as we headed out and a cold towel upon finishing. We love this course and look forward to our next trip. The Hillmans

Awesome time

This is defiantly a must play in cancun! It rained for 10 min. That was the only thing that was not great. I don't write reviews that often. However, this course deserves it. Great staff great amenities.

Cancun golf

This is only my second course played in cancun, but so far my favorite. Nice facilities, friendly people, and good upkeep of course. You get a little tired of mangroves, but you are deep in the wetlands. You do see the ocean on the back nine briefly which is nice scenery. Was all inclusive with ok food but beverage cart caught me 4 times in the round. I played as a singe and played through 4 2 person groups who all allowed me to play through without me asking. I finished the round amazingly in 2 hours and 10 minutes without realizing it. Will play again especially when golfnow gets you the big discount that seems to be ther once or twice a day.

Perfect Day

First trip to Cancun, and I did my homework prior to leaving the US. We decided on this course, and couldn't have been happier. $78 through golfnow was an absolute steal! They had just completed a brand new asphalt cart path prior to our round, which only added to the quality and beauty of the course. The steady breeze made the course feel longer than it was, as we were coming up two clubs short any time the wind was in our face. We only even saw one other group during our entire round. The staff was great, and the snack cart came around every 3 holes. Lunch was fantastic and the view was even better. I tried to buy a souvenir ball at the turn, and they didn't have any. When I completed the round, they had found one and have it to me for free which I thought was very cool. Will play this track again on the next trip for sure.
