Iberostar Cancun Golf Club
About
Iberostar Cancun Golf Club (formerly known as Hilton Cancun Golf & Spa Resort) sits along the beautiful Nichupte Lagoon, with it and many of its inlets bordering most of the holes. The championship course sprawls across a scenic landscape accented with tropical vegetation that is also home to a variety of wildlife. Golfers shouldn't be surprised to see colorful birds, iguanas or even a crocodile. Water naturally comes into play throughout the golf course but there are also strategically placed bunkers to contend with. The Mayan ruins of El Rey, which date back to 500 AD, provide unique scenery on the 16th hole. The course offers a fair test that is not too intimidating for beginners but challenging enough for more seasoned players. In addition to the golf course, Iberostar Cancun also has a 25-yard practice course, a driving range, and a putting green.

Solid 7.5/10
Solid golf course, no frills. Best option is to do a replay and cost average down to about $67 per round ($99 + $35 replay). Staff (Miguel the starter & Rosember the cart guy) extremely nice and helpful. Be aware of your surroundings, there are crocodiles in the water so take a free drop away from the water's edge at least 15 feet.
Value laden and Rosember is a treat
At $99or $109 us it's a great deal. If u book through your hotel concierge you can get the 99 rate and get transportation included. This is on top of: hot/ cold breakfast, all items from snack cart( yes to cervezas) and lunch
Course, IMO, is a 6.5/7 out of 10 in terms of challenge as it is not overly long. However, this is suitable for resort clientele. There is a Lot of water along w crocodiles, so beware.
Best part of the round is morning host and cart guy Rosember. He is funny, respectful and always a great treat to see.
Enjoy your round
Nice course, but.....
Squeaking out for a round turned to be very costly. The round itself on Golf Now was a little on the high side ($109USD), however still a $40USD savings over booking through the hotel concierge or directly with the course. Much to my chagrin, the club rentals were NOT part of the ALL INCLUSIVE that they advertise, but rather another $55USD each. This more than slightly soured my day. Overall, it was a nice day out and friendly staff all around. At least the clubs were of decent quality.
Iberostar is a star
I'm amazed that more people in the hotel zone don't play golf here. It's convenient and a great value. I've been playing it for over 10 years and love it. The starter runs a tight group of energetic and helpful staff.
My only recommendations are that they should cut the fairways and green a little shorter. Not to say they aren't nice and medium speed greens, but it would be a 5 star course with smooth fast greens and a tighter fairway. I assume they don't to avoid watering more frequently including during the day when the course is in play.
Nice all inclusive course
They do a fantastic job maintaing greens and rough areas. Often windy which adds a slight challenge but overall course is wide open. Food was good and service was fine for a golf course.
Wonderful Experience
Cannot say enough about the course and the staff. Bonus was lunch and drinks (all you can eat and drink) were included.
Wildlife and crocodiles were unexpected.
Went back to play it twice more.
Enjoyed the day
Played twice now. Nice course not too tricky, some hidden water to avoid but generally plenty of room to hook/slice. Staff friendly. Bit pricey by UK standards but does include drinks and lunch. Club hire expensive but Ping G20 so OK clubs. Good holiday treat.
Course Charges
Beautiful golf course overall very friendly staff, I was however disappointed when i booked the course golf now price was $143.00 usd when i arrived at the course the staff informed me that the golf now price was $178.00 usd. beautiful layout but be prepared for extra charges !
Good times
Great course , staff and free beer all day
Wouldn't Play This Course for FREE
If I could leave a zero star rating I would. Coming to Cancun with friends two of us decided to bring our clubs and play a little golf. I booked a tee time two weeks in advance to make sure that we would be able to plan the rest of our days accordingly. The Pro Shop stated they would pick us up at our hotel and bring us back. On the morning of the tee time I called the Pro Shop to make sure the shuttle would be here and that everything was good to go. Keep in mind this is the morning of our outing before we left our hotel for our 20 minute ride to the course. On the way there it started to rain which wasn't a big deal as it was pretty humid. When we arrived at the course they unloaded our clubs and we stood waiting for the starter.
He asked if we knew the condition of the course. This was the first time that anyone had even given us an idea that there was an issue. We asked what was wrong and the response we received was shocking... they airated the greens the day before. This type of process makes putting on a green impossible and the ball will never roll true. For a $140.00 usd a round course this is inexcusable. This process is scheduled weeks in advance and especially when we called the morning of they could have told us this.
We told them that we didn't want to play and we would like to go back to the hotel. Keep in mind they provided us transportation to the course. They then tried to give us the round for 80.00 which was still to much. We explained that we would like to go back to the hotel. They said that they would call is a taxi to take us back. Then they told us that we would need to pay for the taxi back which was ridiculous.
After all this was said and done and we returned to the hotel we looked into playing a different course the next morning. We ended up being able to play El Tinton which is the Cancun Country Club.. this course was amazing. A thousand times nicer than this course and get this... it was less expensive and they provided transportation to AND from the course.
After this experience I would never play Iberostar's course even if the round was free.
Excellent
Excellent course, interesting layout and very friendly staff. Worth the value.
Good Enough, Bring Rangefinder
Round was a decent value, convenient location to mid hotel zone and we were well taken care of...I literally couldn't finish a beer because the staff kept replacing my open ones with fresh coldies so that was awesome. Front was noticeably nicer looking than the back, definitely seemed like it was groomed more because it was visible to the public, but overall the course in general was in good shape. Biggest complaint is that there were very few distance markers/ marked sprinkler heads, bring a range finder if you have one...iGolf didn't have the course so my GPS watch was no bueno there. I did see a few crocs out on the course, so thats a real thing to be cautious of, I wouldn't go chasing lost balls in rough/ OB, saw a pretty decent sized one sunning on the side of the 18th green and another one behind a fence right next to a tee box (can't recall #). There was no one on the course, we played a 3ish hour round. Rental clubs ok, nothing special (Ping G20s), decent shape although both of our putters need regripping badly. Would play there again, it was a good deal overall, but would likely play elsewhere simply just to play something different if we go back to Cancun.
Iberostar Cancun
Course was excellent condition. Staff was great! Bring extra balls course is a little narrow. Do not worry about the crocks saw one in 18 holes.
Great service
Didn't see any crocs but plenty of iguanas. Staff was excellent going from all inclusive golf, food & drinks. Kinda hot @ this time of year.
Too much money for what you get...::
Only 30 range balls, rental sticks were worn out-cart person was hiding most of the time. For the a very bad value......
Hotel zone golf
Ok course. Played 27 holes. when I completed the round I asked the cart man for a ride to bus stop.He said he did not have time. not friendly for resort.
Excellent
Very friendly, enjoyable, challenging. Wind is tough. Great experience
