Iberostar Playa Paraiso Golf Club
About
Located just south of Cancun between Puerto Morelos and Playa del Carmen, Iberostar Playa Paraiso Golf Club stand outs from the relatively flat landscape that surrounds it. The course has a surprisingly hilly terrain that features dramatic elevation changes, so prepare for uneven lies. The golf course was carefully carved from Mayan jungle, which was kept in tact to provide a treacherous hazard throughout. The layout was designed by P.B. Dye, who incorporated some of his signature features including extreme vertical movement and untraditional hazards like a rock riverbed. With its narrow fairways and undulating greens bordered by deep bunkers, the golf course is considered one of Dye's toughest designs. Warming up on the club's lighted driving range, or putting green would be helpful before tackling this demanding golf course.

Wonderful golf experience
This course is first class from the moment you come to the property. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The course was in fabulous shape and P.B. Dye really knows how to make a challenging course, especially with the crowned, multi-tiered greens. I was paired with a very nice couple from Canada and we had a great time. I am a 4 handicap, played well, and this may have been my best golf experience ever.
Nice course PB Loves hills
Nice track a bit tricked up but overall great place to play on vacation.
I Always Enjoy a Pete Dye Experience
Not as punishing or daunting as other Pete Dye courses I've played, but it was challenging enough and a very enjoyable round of golf. Staff was friendly and accommodating, plenty of good rental options, an overall good experience on my holidays.
perfect condition
great golf course. Highly recommended. Food at the facility was excellent as well.
Forgot the tequila!
This was the second course in the Mayan this week. Played Grand Coral earlier. No comparison! The Grand Coral was OK, but I would spend the money and treat yourself to the Iberostar. GC greens were painfully slow. Probably cost me 6 strokes! Iberostar greens were fast and true.
We arrived about 15 minutes before course opened (6:30am). Staff took time to welcome us while very busy setting up. Green fee (discounted through Golfnow) included everything, snack cart, drinks and range. Course was typical Pete Dye. Undulating fairways with strategic bunkers and landing zones. Green side bunkers and collection areas ran from 2 to 12 feet deep. Definitely need to loft the ball. Greens were generous, but required some precision. A heavy putt could easily result in running off to a collection area or false front. Most holes were secluded in a forest setting. Not much chance of retrieving a errant tee shot. We were basically alone on the course for our entire round. Gave us time to enjoy the very picturesque scenery. I did speak to a member who mentioned that this course was comparable to Mayakoba, but half the price. Look forward to returning. Will try to remember a Tequila shot next time. Could have used some aiming fluid!
Excellent
Fun challenging course. Wish hole maps were available other than on the tee box.
Great course
Played 4 different courses during our trip, this one definitely deserves a return visit. Conditions are great and the course is fun to play. Not so challenging that you need a case of balls to get through 18 holes. Staff was nice, the drinks and food were included at this course. A great experience, will be there again on the next trip!
aeration taking place
We should have been warned when booking the round that aeration was taking place. We had to play the back 9 twice. The greens were very sandy. The facility and staff were however fantastic. I would play again but not in September.
Hills, holes, and moguls
This is my second PB Dye Course to play. It is an awesome. The fairways and greens are Paspalum grass. Over 18 holes and three and a half hours I did not see one single weed. It is fantastic. Drinks and sandwiches are included in your greens fees. There are some blind tee shots of course, but what a wild ride and what a wonderful experience.
If you hit a bad shot, you pay the price. No getting around that.
I was lucky enough to get a hot deals discount greens fee.if you get a chance to play in Cancun Playa del Carmen area make this one of your stops.another great course there is Playacar.
Awesome
Tough. Fun. Challenging. Rewarding. Surprising. Some swearing. Some cheers. Great people. Great food. I'm coming back!
Best in Cancun/ Riviera Maya area for $$$
I would like to say this was the best in the Cancun or Riviera Maya area.
This course was in great shape. The people were very kind and helpful.
on Golfnow.com is the way to go when booking as well, you will save alot and everything was all inclusive. Drinks , water Gatorade, sandwiches on the course as well as a burger after the round.
The rental clubs were new Ping 15's and 20's as well as the Titielest set.
I will play there everytime I go to Mexico.
Have fun cause the course is challeging.
Oh yea bring 2 dozen balls if you plan to play any course in Mexico . a sleeve of balls can run you 25.00 bucks.
Good resort course
Played on vacation with my father-in-law. Staff was very nice and beverage cart came by every 3 holes. Practice facility and course condition was excellent and in very good shape. Would highly recommend.
Nice course. Very good value.
I don't think you can play a better course for the price. Course was in great shape. A lot of undulation, so you'd better know how to hit your shots on down/up-hill lies well. Greens are smallish and tricky to read, but wasn't that fast. Really nice sand traps (some of them are really deep). Haven't played any other courses in the region, but compared to some courses I played in Florida, this seemed like a really nice course for the $.
P.B Dye out doing his father
The undulations on this course is absolutely incredible. I have played a lot of mountain courses, but this is just something different. The green on #7 is just amazing, won't spoil it for you. But, you will be amazed, take a deep breath.
The overall facility is just tired. The pro shop is nothing exceptional.
Have fun
Course good, rental clubs terrible
The rental clubs were terrible, at least 2 years old and in bad condition. The course and greens were in good condition. The all-inclusive food was average, a buffet with cold-cuts & fresh fruit in the morning, but we were able to order off the menu at the grill when we finished. However, hamburger meat was not the best. The course really didn't seem to care if we played there or not. No one when out of their way to make us feel welcome and make sure we had a good time. There are "better value" courses that I would play next time.
Fabulous course
Were not staying at the resort so we paid quite a lot to golf, however having your drinks included sure helped. Had lunch before we started but the kitchen was closed when we finished. Course was in amazing condition and will consider staying at the Iberostar next time.
Amazing Golf in Mayan Riviera!
Amazing experience in Mayan Riviera. There are lots of courses to choose and I was happy that we chose the Iberostar. We ended up playing it twice rather than heading to a different course. The course was in impeccable condition, the staff were amazingly friendly. When the drink cart shows up you have to try the incredible chicken club sandwich (with a couple of Dos Equis on the side). The course outline booklet goes a long way in helping you play without the experience of playing here prior - believe and follow the tips. The greens run very true, but not as fast as they may seem - good pace for a resort course without taking all of the break away.
Excellent vacation course
Excellent facility with a very accommodating staff. Greens were in great condition but not too fast. If you are in Riviera Maya, make sure you book a tee time here
Course has great features
Well maintained course. Challenging greens. Strongly recommend playing this course when in area.
Enjoyed it so much we went back another day!
The course was in excellent condition. It was beautifully groomed and maintained. The staff was all courteous and attentive. An unexpected bonus was all food and beverages were all inclusive making it a good bargain.
