Best shape in 30 years playing
Holiday weekend. Pace of play was very slow - 5.5 hours! However, weather was perfect and the course was in top shape. Would compare to any other mountain course I've played. Would recommend to beginners as well as low handicappers.
slowest 18 ever
extremely slow play. 4 1/2 to 5 hours. many beginners playing slow and sideways. no sign of a course marshal. nobody playing here ever heard of playing ready golf . thank God for good weather and scenery. course and greens in good condition. several unsupervised children romping on putting green
Angel Fire Resort
The course was in great shape. Can't wait to play again. Tough greens but fantastic shape!
AMAZING MOUNTAIN GOLF TRIP
We had a blast. We did rained on the first afternoon but got finished before it rained the second afternoon. We love playing golf this time of year, it is so great playing with temps in the 70's and 80's. We try to come every summer.
Magnificat scenery on a great course.
Going back tomorrow. Members I played with were a pleasure to spend the day with. Thank you Lionel and John.

This was a really fun mountain course. Narrow times with challenging greens. The course was in great shape. The pace of play was somewhat slow. There are several very enjoyable holes including a 200 yd par three that drops about 200 feet. Well worth playing. Great views of the mountains.
Good & Bad
Got serious attitude from staff because I booked thru GolfNow. They didn't like the fact I paid $40thru GolfNow instead of their usual $89 green fee. The bad: course not in great shape for the fee you pay. Very slow play because of family foursomes, lots of kids with grandparents. Rude attitude from staff. The good: spectacular views of the mountains, wonderful weather, clean air, beautiful clubhouse with fine dining.
Hidden Gem
This was a course we just picked on a whim because we were passing through New Mexico but was a pleasant surprise.... it is a true mountain course in a quiet valley town. There is a par 3 on the front nine that is listed at around 200 yards but plays 4 or 5 club lengths less due to the incredible elevation. On a weekday you can get this course through Golfnow for around $50 but we did the stay and play at their resort which was only around $200 I would recommend this course to anyone especially if you are familiar with mountain style golf.
Amazing
This course is amazing, the greens were great, the fairways was perfect. Staff was friendly and helpful. I did have trouble paying attention to my golf game due to the scenery around the course. I give this course a 10 easy, go play it, it will make you feel rich!.
Very nice course and great staff
The condition of the course was great. The professionalism of the staff was also great. The memebers were very friendly.
We really enjoyed our round.
Very nice mountain course
Somewhat slow pace of play for not being that busy. Course is in mostly good condition, some very wet areas due to recent rains/snow and the greens were rough in spots.
Need to be accurate off the tee and be good with a wedge because the greens will not hold an approach shot.
Played twice and we enjoyed it. Overall Angel Fire is a nice course and you can't beat the weather and views.
Worth the trip
The layout of this course is very interesting, has some narrow fairways, a little water creek working its way throughout the course. Sand traps in need of additional sand. Scenery is great and peaceful.
Worth visiitng, butbe open minded
The price quoted by golfnow.com was NOT what I was charged; the course added on taxes, which were a surprise.
Initially the person at the desk said there was no reservation in my name, doing so somewhat dismissively. I had to go get my confirmation from my car, by which time another person had found my reservation, but they had not yet posted it.
Finally got started, and the course played nicely and quickly, but there was a lot of major re-construction work going on which made it quite noisy.
Excellent setting, Unique experience. Bring your GPS.
Overall, the course was in good condition. Found it pretty easy to keep the ball in play off the tee, so pace of play was never an issue. Greens are small so you can expect your GIR stats to suffer a bit.
Carts are not equipped with GPS and sprinkler heads weren't always marked so bring your own GPS or rangefinder. Some greens had lingering winter kill issues and other damage (played in early September).
Course is very pleasing to the eyes, and offers many great views. The course ranger was exceptionally helpful & friendly from the time of arrival throughout the round. He kept us informed of what was happening ahead of us (some people cut in on #10, but that can be expected in a semi-private facility).
Angel Fire's proclaimed signature hole is #6, a 200+ yard (depending on tees) par 3 that falls off 200 feet from tee to green. Many mountain courses will include a similar hole. On this, just cut 40 yards from the measured distance and swing away, a large green awaits you at the bottom.
Good High Country Golf
We went to Angel Fire to get away from the unusual hot weather in Texas, and that worked out really well. Angel Fire is something like 8,000 ft up, and it probably didn't get above 80 degrees for the two days we were there. The course was in very good condition(probably 5*), except a couple of the greens had not fully recovered from a very harsh winter. The fairways were excellent, and the rough was managable. There is a good choice of tees, and I wouldn't suggest the back tees, unless you hit it long, and have a 5 or less handicap. I played the white tees(6,292 yards, and slope 130),
and they gave my 8 handicap a good test. The ball may travel a little further at this altitude, but with soft fairways, you don;t get a lot of roll. I would definitely recommend the course, if just for the scenery.
A challenging test of all the shots.
I loved the variety of the course. It was slow going because of the surrounding beauty of the mountains. If you didn't stop to enjoy the scenery it would be OK; BUT, you would have definitely missed one of the great ascetics of golf.
The views help
Course is OK, but pace of play was very bad. We went around several groups to avoid a six hour round. Round is over priced for what it is.
Lovely course. Great mountain views and plenty of fresh air.
Would use Golf Now again to reserve a tee time for this course. As a Wyndham Timeshare owner (Angel Fire) the rates through Golf Now were $30 less than the Timeshare Owner rates. This was for a tee time after 2pm.
This course has beautiful mountain views.
The course has a lot of elevation change. The course winds through mountain pines down into a meadow. The greens are hard to read, however; they were very hard and had unpredictable breaks.
Just played here today and actually did talk to the worthless Marshall about the pace of play. 5 hours 15 minutes to play a round is terrible and he looked at me as if I had 3 eyes when I told him that was unacceptable. The group in front of me took multiple shots on just about every tee. Way overpriced but decent course with good views but I wouldn’t give this more than 2 stars and Taos Country Club is a far better golf experience in my opinion.
