My favorite course in the area due to the layout
I've played this course 4 or 5 times over the past couple summers and truly enjoy the layout. It plays long, some forgiveness on its fairways and the views are outstanding. The ONLY issue right now with the course is the dryness of its fairways and around the greens due to the dry summer weather we've had.
Outstanding location with excellent desert views
This is a championship course that used to be on the PGA tour. A challenging course for the average golfer.
Course as not in good condition
Course was dry, too many dry spots for the price of playing. I know it is summer and water is important in the desert but I just played other courses that have way better grass conditions. Better to play this in winter when course and weather will make it a better experience.
Bad shape
This is a premiere course that was in worse shape than a cow pasture.
Great Course
Jack Nicholas designed course……. Need I say more! Very challenging course, accuracy is very important. Beautiful and well maintained.
Outstanding Design
Very Challenging design. It is a must play at least 3x. The first time a person is on training wheels. When a target is selected, you don't know if there is a hazard area right where you think the ideal drive might be. Approach shots are almost always uphill, making the course longer. The fairways were not very lush. The greens have been punched and sanded and are running true and maybe a 10.5 on the stimp. I just moved to Tucson and this will be a regular stop, especially with guests in town.
Golf Course was in excellent shape a pleasure to play
Great facility, course, and staff
Course was in great shape, staff very courteous and helpful, and the layout is challenging without being a killer!
Thanks Matt.
Shout out the to GM Matt. Matt went above and beyond to take care of our group. Much appreciated!!
Challenging and Rewarding
Tee time was a 6:30am and did not see another player all day!! Great fairways and greens and good sand In the traps, of which there are many!
Too Tough
This course is too difficult for 15-20 handicappers. Green complexes extremely challenging. Fun to play once.
Disappointing
Used to attend the World Match Play event annually and also played the course a half dozen years ago. Just moved backed to Arizona so had to play it again. Understand that it’s tough to maintain turf in Tucson this time of year but the conditions were disappointing. Areas just off fairways and greens were very unkept, with maintenance items scattered around as well. Expect better of Dove Mtn.
Challenging, Fun Course in High Style
My first time playing at Dove Mountain and I'll definitely be back. The course is challenging (especially the Wild Burro 9) but fair; and a lot of fun. Since it's in a luxury resort, the amenities are great: Food, shop, practice range, carts, etc. I only have 2 minor complaints: 1. Was surprised that some of the tee boxes were pretty burned out (I know it's June in Tucson, but there are plenty of other courses in the area with great tee boxes; and 2. There are tons of bunkers on this course, and I expected they would have had sand in them. They look like the do, but it's just hard pan. Especially with the number of greenside bunkers, it would be nice to have sand to play out of (I was lucky to only have 3 sand shots; my partner not so much). Otherwise a fun day and a really nice course.
