Needs work
Sand traps and tee boxes need a lot of work. Lots of weeds on the fairway. The green need to be rolled. Workers there were very nice and pleasant. Course has a lot of potential just needs some work
Great layout, Good value.
Yesterday was my first experience playing Legacy Ridge CC. My son and I enjoyed our afternoon at the course. My thoughts from start to finish:
1. Great layout and overall a good value.
2. Driving range turf thin and well worn.
3. Front nine was described as more of a links style course with plenty of water lining several fairways.
4. Back nine heavily treed and very pretty. A few of the back nine greens had a fair amount of poa annua grass.
5. The course was not terribly hard which should be a plus for plus for higher handicap golfers.
Overall we thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon and the staff was super helpful to us newbies. We’ll definitely play the course again. Thanks Legacy Ridge!!
Nice value
We were only able to play the back nine because of the rain that occurred the previous evening. However, I like the course layout. The holes are interesting and relatively well maintained. Greens have bent grass so roll fine when Bermuda is dormant. Clubhouse staff is very pleasant. We got the six dollar deal for a hotdog, a bag of chips and a soda after around and sat in their bar. If you’re looking for a high-end service intensive country club, this isn’t your place. However, if you looking for a very nice family run golf course to play in the Bonham area, then give it a try. We will come back again and look forward to playing the front nine this next time. And, you’re welcome to BYOB!
The Worst Course in North Texas!
Ok, let's start with the range. $10 for a large bucket of balls for a range that stops at 200 yards. You can't hit woods and drivers out there! Terrible. Next, don't expect a pro shop. If you need balls, they have a decent selection, but I didn't check the prices.
The front 9 is not forgiving, they are fairly narrow, and you cannot miss left or right on any hole. Frankly, what made the front 9 difficult was the inconsistently cut fairways, roughs, and greens. Every hole was a crap shoot on how the ball would play. Greens were in decent shape for early spring, though some were overtaken by clovers on the back nine.
The first 3 holes of the back nine were by far my favorite but were ruined by the log jam of groups in front of us. Which brings me to probably my biggest complaint, there is no one there to enforce the rules or pace of play. Ready golf was a foreign concept to the groups in front of us. Holes 10-14 resulted in 15+ minute waits on every tee box and approach shot. We had enough at hole 15, packed it up and called it quits.
There was very little food options, so pack a lunch. I do want to say that the ladies at the desk were very kind and I have no complaints against them. I hope the owners/managers of this course read this. We will never make the drive to Bonham for golf again and I suggest no one else does either!
Good round
The course is in good condition for February. Greens are good. Fairways need to some time and water. It was cart path only so play was slow and soggy. It was hard to find the ball in the brown fairways.
Winter golf at its best
This course is not an Italian supermodel, but it does have good bones with a great layout of links in the front nine along with parkland golf on the back nine.
It was a little soggy today playing, but the course was wet and moist.
Greens ran true today, but were slower than normal.
Course should have a much better kitchen amenities. Very disappointed
A good course. Slow play
Good course but the round took 4 hours and there were only 10 cars in the parking lot.
Great course with beautiful scenery
This is a great course with beautiful scenery. I played my round in three hours by myself, and it was a perfect day.
The staff is really great and welcoming. It's one of my new favorite courses in North Texas.
Good solid course and fun.
I like this course. It is very basic tee-green. Greens are bent grass and they have perked back up from the long hot summer. This course is prone to slow play because the country folk that plays here are in no hurry to do anything. Expect a 4-5 hour round even during the week.
Average course.
This course needs some TLC. Tee boxes are hard as a rock and many fairways have cracks in the ground. All greens have been punched and sanded this week, so putting is a bit of a challenge. 150 yard markers are posts that are not 100% accurate, so a range finder is a must. .
Greens in good shape
Greens were in good shape. Course is very dry. Very difficult to put a tee in the ground on the tee box and a lot of cracks in the ground. Some greens need a shot of pre-emergent.
Course is nice, some greens need some work, needs to be mowed around ponds, and some trees n ed to be trimmed on a few holes. Other than that loved it.
Losing some greens
Great pace. Penalized for missing the fairway. First cut rough was brutal. Easy to lose your ball on the first cut rough. Some of the tee box were hard as a rock and hard to put tee down. The green are receptive and slow. They are losing 40% of the greens to weed.
