Fast greens, great fairways
Water levels were down from when I last played in the spring, so not quite as scenic. Course was in great shape especially the fairways. Very fast greens with some brutal pin positions. Rough was thick so try to avoid it. Only negative is that there is very little water on the courses and we only saw the cart girl on hole 1. Fill up with drinks at the start or at the turn! Lots of wildlife.
Really? Still car-path only??
I love this course, and I understood the car path only thing when it was super dry (or super wet, less times)
But now the weather and the course conditions were perfect, and it is STILL car path only. I don't get it. And it is super annoying; I'd rather walk with a push cart.
Otherwise, great course.
Nice But Not Worth the Price
It was rainy and Drizzly, so unfortunately the course was cart path only even though the course was dry. This was my first time playing the course and I was told it was a good course.
Overall the course was pretty easy and not that much of a challenge. Bunkers were in good shape but the greens were spotty and bare on some holes. It was obvious they lost some of their greens. Hole 14 was the worst of all.
Carts had a rain cover to protect the clubs. That was nice. The best piece of golf gear I own came in very handy again, a hand squeegee!
Range balls are included but had to hit from mats. The mats do not allow you to put a tee, small or full size. The range is elevated too so it was hard to get distances.
I saw no beverage cart. The course is well laid out. I just don’t know if it is worth the prices being charged for greens fees. There are better options in SAT for that price point.
Not for me
Overall I had a fair round of course condition was poor the greens were in really bad shape really dry I know it's Texas but they're right next to a natural spring put some water on the fairways and the greens and it'd be worth the money but until then go to buckhorn they seem to take care of their face a little bit better work on the course conditions and I'll be back until then put them in the middle of the fairway
Winter Golf
Cart path only- better off walking with a cart or bring a sunday bag. Greens just ok. The course is suffering from drought conditions in addition to it being winter. Course has seen better days.
Cart path only all the time
The course is very dry so they are cart path only all the time. We played in a short time but think that was because mostly members were playing and knew the course, hopefully they get some rain and allow carts back on the course.
Beautiful Course
First time here it was great. Would have given a 5 star but water levels were low so some of the features of the course didn’t shine through, not their fault though. Will definitely play again.
Overpriced for course conditions
Overpriced. Greens are in bad shape compared to muni courses in San Antonio.
Love the course but def needs to get it together.
Not worth it
The course is terrible. I call before I book the round just to double check. The info I received was all wrong. The fairway was all dirt no grass and the green was terrible. Honestly fairway conditions was acceptable but the green was no grass mostly bumps and dirt. For hot deal $80 not worth it. Never going back
Condition
Beautiful course and clubhouse and scenery Conditions on the course weren’t up to par. Would play again now that I’m familiar
Beautiful Course
What a great golf course. If I was going to be a member somewhere this would be it.
Greens are not in best condition, but it was a tough summer.
Love this course!
Cart path only
Wasn’t informed the course was cart path only until we got there and about to tee off in order for them to restore the course conditions…it had nothing to do with weather. Terrible. For the price they charge, this shouldn’t be the case and there should be notification provided when reserving. Fail on GolfNow’s part too.
Nice Course, but felt rushed.
We had a good time overall. Beautiful course with a great blend of challenges. Only complaint was the twosome dressed like Duck Dynasty behind us. They hit into our foursome a couple of times that got a little close. An occasional "fore" or blow on a duck call would've been appreciated. Despite the knuckleheads, we'll definitely go back!
Decent course, over priced for the area and conditions
Tapatio Springs Hill Country Resort offers a golf course with a strategic and engaging layout, making for a pleasurable day on the greens. However, my enjoyment was tempered by the visible impact of drought conditions. The greens and water features, typically the jewels of a golf course, were visibly suffering, reducing the overall aesthetic and playability.
While contemplating a membership, I discovered that the membership fees are listed openly on the website. This transparency is unusual for high-caliber clubs, where fees are often part of a private discussion, adding to the exclusive nature of the membership. The open listing of fees felt at odds with the typical discretion and exclusivity I associate with country club memberships.
My visit further emphasized my concerns about the value proposition of becoming a member. There seems to be little incentive; the course is accessible to the public most days, and the restaurant is always open to non-members, diluting the 'members-only' advantage.
During my exploration of potential membership, I didn't experience the courting I expected. The walkthrough was basic, lacking the warm, engaging pitch or membership perks one might anticipate when being wooed by a club. Post-tour, there was no follow-up, no invitation to experience the club as a member for a day, not even the offer to comp a round of golf — a gesture often extended as a nod to potential members.
The dining experience, while satisfactory, didn't ascend beyond the ordinary, especially when compared to the vibrant culinary scenes at comparable resorts.
In sum, while the course itself offers some delightful rounds, the lack of care shown to the course under harsh environmental conditions and the uninspired approach to membership leaves me unconvinced. Given the price point of around $250 per round and the visible drying up of both the greens and water features, my visits will be infrequent. There are plenty of other clubs in the area more eager for members and less affected by drought, making them more attractive for regular play and potential membership investment.
Beautiful course with excellent staff!
If you want a beautiful hill country course that will challenge your skills, then this course is for you! My group really had fun out there.
Currently cart path only
They are taking the right steps to protect the integrity of the fairways while we're in this incredibly challenging stretch of 103+ degree weather.
Friendly staff, nice layout (fun), and the greens were in great shape. If you have limited water... water those.
Tapatio Springs Golf Resort
I've played at this course over the last past several years. It seems as though the course is not being managed and maintained properly over the years. The fairways are dried out and patchy with dried spots and with weeds. There were at least 6 greens that were in terrible shape. This course needs the attention of the greens keeper before it is too late to salvage. If this course is in this condition, they should fair warn you when paying and checking in at the pro shop, not have it as a surprise and disappointment as you play.
