Part of a large tree farm whose crop is irrigated by two lakes, Twin Lakes is one of the best values in the state. An outstanding, challenging track, despite the fact that it was designed by the landowner, the course is not crowded and the golf is spectacular. You’ll notice how around half the holes play through the East Texas pines, while the other half play over and around the lakes. The course is long at 7,200 yards from the tips, and over 6,600 from the men’s tees. Even the short holes are difficult, with strategically placed bunkers and difficult pin placements.
One of these is No. 9, perhaps one of the most difficult par 3s in the state. It rests along the lake with a huge tree to the left of the green that sucks in anything on that side. The wind howls off the lake and your subconscious tells you to aim right because of the tree. Anything less than perfect will find the water on the right. Less confident golfers sometimes lay up with a wedge, hoping to get their chip close enough for a one-putt. Considering the penalties that are possible on this hole, this isn’t always a dumb move.

Great course
One of my favorite courses. It's a little long but it's unique. Has a lot of well placed holes. Always enjoy playing here.
variable conditions
Ups/downs left/rights open/tight
great combination of holes
removal of trees is going to help a lot
We do seem to have a hole for every type of golfer and hope you found a favorite while you were here. We removed over 1,200 trees this past fall and the course is greening up beautifully. I hope you can come out and enjoy how we have opened things up a bit more for the golfer. Enjoy.
Magnificent Tree Farm
Played this course last year and although it was dormant , it is truly beautiful . Can't wait to play it in the Spring . In great shape wit plenty of challenge for everyone .
Only criticism is several of the greens are too slanted (10 , 11 and 15) . They are more tricky than they need to be.
"Worth the Drive".
We hope you were able to make it back this spring to play the course again as it is now bright green and the roses are currently in full bloom.
We have had complaints on the slant of a few greens in the past and we listened and changed up #11 to try to help the golfer. It is a bit more fair but it is still a challenge. Now that the grass is growing again you might find the greens a bit slower and therefore those greens might be a little more forgiving. Come on out and give it a shot again.
Bad design
This course is in excellent shape and very well maintained. The pro shop staff is very friendly and solicitous. We were the first on Friday morning so we were able to play in under 4 hours so I can't really comment on pace of play. I do not like the design of this course. There are far too many blind shots. Every green seems to have the same slope which may be comfortable for some, I found it monotonous. There are some holes on this course where there simply is no good shot. Seems unfair when good shots are punished. I am sure that some people would find this course interesting it's just not for me.
Wonderful Views and Tons of Old Growth Trees
Love the Forced Carries on Holes... Blind Fairway Shots on #3 and #14. Best Course in East Texas for the Money! Friendly Pro Shop Staff and GPS Carts & Scorecards E-mailed Automatically...
Thank you for the kind comments. We try to be as reasonably priced as possible as we want to share the beauty of this course with everyone. We are excited to have the new GPS system that can email your scorecard or even post to Facebook, if you dare!
Worth the drive
I really enjoyed playing Twin Creeks. The course is beautifully landscaped and sits next to a tree farm. I would not recommend the course to beginners as it presents challenging shots over water and many other hazards. The staff is incredibly friendly and I look forward to the next visit.
The course is remote and senic.
The course would have received a perfect score but the greens had too many ball marks. Otherwise an overall great day of golf.
Fantastic course
Had a great time playing this course. Well worth the rate. Course was is great condition.
Absolute Must Play
I will guarantee if you live in East Texas you have not played a course this nice. I would add "for the price", but this would diminish the overall excellence of this hidden gem. I've played many courses from Maryland to Texas and this is top 3 on my list. From tee to green you will be in awe. Very accurate GPS on gas golf carts. Walking is not a option due to large distances between a couple tee boxes. I only have two bad things to say, the bunkers need more sand and less small rocks. The second thing is no beverage cart the 20+ times I've played there. Otherwise this course is a must play for any golfer that loves a challenge.
GREAT COURSE
COURSE WAS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION AS ALWAYS....THE ONLY DOWN SIDE WAS THEY WERE IN THE PROCESS OF PUNCHING AND SANDING THE GREENS WHEN WE WERE THERE....GREENS STILL ROLLED WELL . THE CLUB PRO TOLD US WE COULD RE ROUND FOR NOTHING DUE TO THE CONDITIONS....WHICH WAS VERY CONSIDERATE .... ENJOYED VERY MUCH AND WOULD RECOMMEND HIGHLY...
Beautiful setting and course.
Twin Lakes in an incredible/beautiful course for the price. The layout is a little strange and the greens could be a lot faster.
this course has great features
Beautiful landscapes, challenging course, great and friendly staff.
This course is a hidden treasure!
Friendly staff, unbelievable course conditions and layout- this place could hold a PGA Tour event! It's a little hard to find and not around much of anything, but this place is a hidden gem. Don't second question if you should make the drive or not- it's worth it.
twin lakes
this course has large greens, alot of bunkers& water challenging but fair.
WOW WOW WOW !!!!!
I can't believe this is in the middle of nowhere in the middle of east tx,,, the pros could easily play a tour event here,, it's gorgeous and very challenging from the tips, more than fair, but very challenging. I loved it and will go back many more times !!!
Hidden Gem
This is a beautiful course sitting in a tree farm in the middle of the country. Has a little bit of eveything. Fun to play. Very manageable from the whites, very challenging from the tips. Very reasonable green fees. The pace of play was slower only because there was a benefit scramble that went off just ahead of us.
Wish they had better bunkers
I've played at Twin Lakes many times over the years and have always wished that they would spend some money on the traps. The sand is very shallow and there are never enough rakes handy to rake up after yourself.
Lots of Eye Candy
Twin Lakes is a hidden gem of a golf course about an hours drive east of DFW. The par 5's are all true 3 shotters for most players but are fair although demanding. Twin Lakes par 3's are championship caliber that require solid ball-striking. The closing stretch of par 4's 16-18 have great visual appeal as they wind through the pines with the second shot on both 17 and 18 visually stunning and demanding . My only quibble would be the slope of the greens don't allow for much variety in hole locations . Since it is surrounded by the owners massive tree farming operation the trees on the course are healthy and well maintained allowing you to play recovery shots without a lot of scrub and low hanging branches to deal with. You owe it to yourself to make the trip out there to what I like to call " a Lil piece of Augusta right here in Texas"
Excellent course, if u can ever find it!
The golf course and surrounding scenery is awesome. Very challenging course with the many shots over water and accuracy that was required. It was an adventure trying to locate the course using car GPS, totally confused by location of course.
Put it on the bucket list
Heard good things about this place. Drive in, the access road winds thru the course. Wow. Course is pristine, well manicured, good traps, tree lined, elevation changes. Visually stimulating. The only thing I could ding would be slower than average greens, first cut off greens high, and you could not walk the course with distances between tee boxes. Overall it was great and cant wait to return. Lots of tee boxes for all levels. Never thought I would enjoy 5800 yrds, but was fun.
We appreciate your business and your kind comments. Just as we are one of your favorite courses, I am sure you are probably one of our favorite customers. We hope to host you again soon.
