Challenging par-3, #8 Photo submitted by ConnieBlack on 05/26/2014
Great Course
Course was in great condition, fairways and greens were excellent. Staff is always great with customers.
Worth the trip
So we drove from Katy, which was a little over a hour, and from entering the gates we knew this was gonna be great. The staff inside was super friendly and made us feel very welcome. The practice areas were nice as well. The course property is just gorgeous. Challenging for sure and the greens were true. Had a great experience, will highly recommend and cant wait to go back.
Course was in great shape, nothing bad to speak of. Will be going back. The pin placement this day was tremendously difficult but made it interesting.
Pleasant surprise
I played the course for the first time today and thoroughly enjoyed the layout. The conditions of the course were excellent. I highly recommend The Wilderness. It is a challenging course and the high winds today made it even harder. The greens rolled true and the tees and fairways were in perfect shape. I played the ball down everywhere and never had a bad lie when in fairway.
Not what it was
I’ve played this course 4 times over the last 6 months, the greens have always been in great shape, but this time around the greens were patchy, and missing grass in sections. Looks like they aerated & over-seeded the greens recently, hopefully this helps. The bunkers were washed out, perhaps from storms last week, but even the bunkers that weren’t washed out had tire tracks throughout & hadn’t been raked. No marshall moving the pace of play along, had several singles & two balls out between 4 balls & the course was stacked up, had 5 groups on the 10th hole.
Love this course BUT...
I drive 75 miles from north Houston to play this course. I really love the layout and it’s usually in good condition even during the winter months but the greens were not good today. Not a lot of grass on them. I get the greens might be in transition but they were a lot better last week. And what’s even worse, they aerated the greens with the bigger spikes and DID NOT put an Advisory on GolfNow. Like I said before I REALLY love this course and always recommend it to all my friends. It was just disappointing to drive all the way out there and find the greens the way they were.
Golfer 55
Winds were gusty and there was 5 playing in front of our group greens were not as good as usual a word of advice get rid of the poana grass before it takes over
Great layout but greens need to fill in
Course was good with healthy amount of challenges. Mixed up the tees to get a good feel of distances. Greens rolled fast but a couple need to fill in. Overall, good course and one worth the drive.
Great Course
Pretty course with no adjoining houses. Just an alligator or two. Fairly wide for less skilled like me. Exceptionally friendly staff and other golfers. Really glad I gave it a try. To bad it’s more than an hour from my house.
Texas folks, go play this course. You will throughly enjoy
Great day to play a round
Impressed with the friendliness of the staff. There was a tournament going on but my partner and I were able to complete all 18 holes. The staff kept the pace of play consistent with the tourney as well as for individual play. Hats off to Kurt & Richard the we’re phenomenal!
great course
very wet conditions, most courses would be closed with weather, had to walk, cart path only, but course was playable, staff was very easy to work with, will definitely go back, greens were very good considering all the rain, over all one of best courses I have played in southeast tx
Outstanding
Friendly staff. Immaculate but fast greens. Bring your A game. Amazing scenery. Top 3 within 100 mile radius
Thank you for your review, tganoe. We will pass along your positive experience to our team at Wilderness Golf Course. We look forward to seeing you again soon.
