If in Lubbock area....
....play this course! Challenging but fair track. A couple of greens bumpy, but otherwise really good shape. A Doak design that I thought was a good value for the money.
Great but…
Sadly thr greens are getting destroyed but what appears to be a fungus or other disease. I hope they can get them to bounce back. It’s gonna be a tough season for them. But genuinely everything else is incredible. Just wanted to give a heads up.
Rawls review
Course is in good shape except for the bunkers that have been bad for a while. Got behind a 4 some that was young guys thinking they need to play the black tees. Finally picked up the pace on the back 9
Very nice course.
Overall course is in very good shape. But, traps need to be maintained and greens are getting a little bumpy. Punching greens this week.
Great day.
Everything was great for this time of year, other than not all the traps that I was in were groomed.
Hidden Gem in NW Texas
It had a great feel to the course.
Great job of routing, Lots of activity around the greens.
Two great par 3's on front 9.
Back to back Par 5's to finish on the back, the only hole that I didn't like was 18.
I would really like to play in summer when the grass is active. The greens rolled nice for winter.
Food was a great value
Tom Doak is one of the greatest designers or our time.
Great Course
Great Course - drinks are a little pricy, but the staff is wonderful!! I enjoyed the entire experience.
Highly recommended.
Place is money
Everything except the greens are dormant right now but the place is still money. Greens appear to be some sort of bent grass hybrid because I’ve never experienced a grain like this playing bent grass and they’re still alive in mid December. Service is wonderful, staff is kind and the experience you get greatly outpaces the green fees. Would play again and again.
The Rawls golf course
This course was amazing! I can’t believe the fairways and greens were so well taken care of especially given how hot it has been this year! The pace of play was awesome and I wasn’t even paired up with anyone as a solo player! Also, range balls are included with the tee time and the range itself was in great condition too! Definitely the best course I have played in West Texas and maybe one of the best courses in all of Texas!
Coming back soon
The course is in amazing condition!! Except for the sand traps but that was only because of the recent rain. Can’t wait to come back!
Great as always
Great as always, just wasn’t made aware that the front 9 would be closed. Was not that big of a problem since they allowed us to play the back 9 twice, but just would’ve like to had been notified beforehand that they were going to be laying sod.
Front nine only
Really enjoyed the front 9. Back 9 closed for resodding. No mention when booking the tee time or on their website. Huge bummer! Not sure when I’ll be back in Lubbock.
carts need updates
my cart ran out of power before finishing the round. i saw someone with a dead cart too. this has happened to me several times now. if these are going to stay electric maybe add solar charge panels on too of carts or have cart switch off at tenth tee. it is getting a bit tiresome to have carts that run out of power.
