what a shame
Have not played here for 2 yrs, so I was very excited to play. As I remember it is one of the prettiest and well manicured courses around. Not anymore, greens were in pretty good shape, but the tee boxes looked like land mines had exploded. The fairways had weeds 8 inches tall everywhere, and I have never seen a driving range in this bad of shape. At best this is a $30 course.
bad
I was hoping to play. A nice course, but was very disappointed with the the condition, greens were torn up, fairways a mess, driving range. Closed half the day. Cant believe this is a greg norman course. Will not be back
Nice Course, but Quirky
Very unique layout, narrow fairway and lots of sand. Lots of unused space though. For a somewhat expensive course, there are no maps of the course on the scorecard or on the tee boxes, and no ball washers! Par 3's are extremely short. Yardage on the scorecards often doesn't match actual yardage. Greens were in rough shape and extremely fast. With the housing being built around the course, this will likely become more costly to play in the future and will need some upgrades and probably new clubhouse facilities.
Challenging course, bring an extra sleeve.
If you are used to playing local munis bring an extra sleeve or two. Anything outside of the first cut is likely gone. Some nice hole layouts and sloping greens make this a challenge.
Rough course conditions
Usually this is a good course that is good value for the money, but it appears to have had some heavy play recently. The tees and greens were generally in rough condition.
Soft fairways and super fast greens.
Fairways were very soft and easy to hit off of, greens had very short grass, made the greens super fast. Too bad the other players didn't repair ball marks and divots.
Bad condition
The course may have been in good shape at one point in time but that time has passed. The greens were very heavily ball marked, the fairways had a lot of bald spots and weeds, the tee boxes hardly had any grass at all. It has been a very mild summer if they cant condition the course better than this in perfect weather conditions how will it survive a hot summer? My opinion is that I will not not be playing there again unless there are major changes!!!
Pretty chewed up
They had apparently gotten a bit of rain the day before, but the tee boxes, fairways, and greens were in rough condition. So few people replace their divots and fix their ball marks that it feels like a lax muni course. I mean c'mon, when you tear up 5 inches of sod on an approach shot, how hard is it to just put it back? Greens are fairly difficult, especially when they put the holes on mounds where the ball falls off on all sides.
Average at best
I was disappointed . There is no way this course deserves the top 5 course rating. Play was very slow. No marshals on the course to speed up play. Yardage markers were hard to come by. A top five course should have GPS on the carts. The grass was thin, maybe it will get better with time. Seems like there is still work to be finished. I'll play it again in a year, see if it has gotten better. But for now I'd say it was average at best. But has potential.
Rough Track
Very disappointed in the course condition. Greens, fairways and tees looked neglected. Greens were especially frustrating. Lots of unrepaired ball marks and patchs of dead spots. Fairway grass was thin in several areas. I played here last year and it was in better shape. Quite a contrast.
challenging greens
Unforgiving unique fairways lined with wild flowers and prairie grasses. Most of the greens offer pretty challenging approach to the cup.
challenging golf
Very good experience...the staff was friendly and the starter gave us some great tips on how to play certain holes....The greens were in great shape and were very challenging....
Great Little Secret
Great secret they have in Stone Canyon. Course designed by the great J.N. I've played a course designed by Jack, but it was a treat.
A challenging track on the front 9, with little room to spray . Back 9 alittle more open, with some really pretty holes. Overall such a great time, would so recommend this course to everyone. Staff is very friendly, and I would go back and play it in a heart beat.
Great find MO
Just played this tough, but fun course. I've never play a J.N course, so there were holes that were challenging . At least 3 or 4 where you hard to hit over raveens.. Felt like the first nine were alittle tight as far as ball placement, back nine was alittle open to spray it abit.. people were friendly, and helpful there.. Ran into a few members there and just a treat to sit down and have yarn.. notthing really bad to say about the course.. bunkers we're not in that great a shape.. but didn't really matter.. would play it again in heart beat
stone canyon
It was nice and a very speedy play enjoyedy self.I would like to see Groupon for Stone Canyon
They need a clubhouse
Awful facilities. You'd think for the price they could spring for more than a double wide. Greens were in awful condition an we have had unseasonably great weather. The natural grass surrounding everything is good hazards every once in a while but gets old after every hole. No variety
Great Course
Wonderful course. Not for beginners due to the many forced carries especially off the tee. Greens where fast.
Challenging Ball Eater
First time playing this course and my friend had warned me this was a ball eater. I personally never have been afraid of hazards, this place has a lot of elevated tee boxes where your driving over a gorge. Overall I like the course def. clean, green, and mean. This was my second time out this year, the first was only three months prior, last year I was going minimum once a week. Def. have the dust knocked off before playing this course I lost 12 balls today so needless to say the penalties helped give me a horrific score but it was fun.
Quality course when in good condition!
I've played here several times for the past 6 years & enjoy it very much! Overall the course is great when they have it in good condition. I've been here when the fairways were a bit torn up due to dry weather & poor course maintenance. Luckily, this year we have gotten enough rain to keep it in good condition. Great layout & it's pretty wide open off the tee! They do have a couple of really challenging holes to keep you honest. The greens are somewhat challenging with some undulation. I would definitely recommend this course!
