Fun layout
Fun layout. Staff extremely friendly. Course conditions are ok. Map it link on confirmation email took us wrong location.
Pace Please
I've played this course dozens of times over the past 5 years. Recently I declined buying the Lake Card after having it for 3 years. The biggest problem here has become the pace of play. GL needs a Starter to enforce tee time punctuality and reasonable separation between groups. This round was like my last one and the one before that...you've got people breathing down your neck while waiting for the group ahead to tee off at every single hole. Making for an unrelaxed day at the course...total opposite reason I pay to play on any given day.
Overall Great Course
Very fun layout and the greens were in great condition. Hard to beat for the price.
Need a Marshall
We skipped three holes because of the pace of play. They need a marshall to remind the slow pokes to let twosomes and faster players to play through. There are zero amenities...no range, putting green, or clubhouse.
They layout was great.
First time playing the course. Staff was friendly along with people playing the course. Rolling fairways and nice greens for winter golf.
Great Track
The course is in excellent shape, and the staff very friendly. I'm looking forward to another round next week.
Room for improvement
Great course, great layout. With the influx of people playing, they should invent more in the course.
Starter not on hole one, shows up randomly blaring music disrupting golfers mid swing.
Ok lower tier type course.
There are no facilities or clubhouse. No driving range & no practice green. However the course layout is really quite decent and a full 18 holes of good length. Most holes are reasonable design too. Some water carries and gully hazards. The fairways were mainly ok with only a few bare areas. The greens looked grey, it was January, but actually putted ok. It was very quiet & that suited my novice playing partner. No pressure from behind. I got a bit of a reduction on Golf Now and at $40 per player it was an enjoyable stress free afternoon. I'll go back when I'm next in the area.
Best local value
I played Grand Lake once in December. Greens crusty but ok. Bunkers not maintained. Played yesterday. Transformed. Bunkers perfectly playable and Greens now at least 7/10.
With a practice Green and basic range this lovely layout would be a really attractive course. At $50 for a Prime Saturday slot, still magnificent value. I visit Montgomery every winter for 2-3 weeks and this will be my number one to play.
Great Course
May be the best course I've played this year. Nice rolling hills, greens in great condition. A few very challenging holes. Scenic country setting. Nice staff.
Very enjoyable round!
It'd been some time since I'd been on Grand Lake Estates, but I won't be long in returning. The course was in excellent shape: clean "edges, " fairways not too short, neat tee boxes and firm greens. For this time of year, you won't find a better track. Big props to the superintendent and grounds crew!
Slow play
Never had such a slow play day as we did Saturday. We were stuck behind a twosome then a single and waited every hole. Got so bad had to skip last 2 holes before dark. We teed off at 11;45 and was terrible time. Never had this happen before.
Great vale and kindly service
I really enjoyed the course. The check in attention was friendly and kindly, with recomendations for first timers.
