First Timer
This was our first time at Mill Creek and we really enjoyed it. The staff are friendly and the layout is somewhat challenging. We had a good time and will be back.
My first time at Mill Creek
My two buddies and I had an excellent time at Mill Creek. We are all three members at Georgetown Country Club and were out for a change of pace. The Manager said the greens were in bad shape, but I thought they were in great shape overall. The fairways provided great lies. The only recommendation I would make would be more directional sings. We had to ask other players for directions to the next tee and to the clubhouse. The grill staff was excellent and the cheeseburger I had was very tasty. Good job to all.
Nice layout
It is a pretty course with lots of different shots required. Condition could be much better but clearly ownership is trying. Bought on GN for $25 so how is that not a deal. Lots of topo and worth the stop if travelling between Austin and Dallas. Look forward to playing again in next couple years to see improvements to condition
it could be a great course
these are the worst greens you can play for $50. if you are smart stay away from this place. everything else here is ok but the greens are horrible. its actually the same price on their personal website without the golfnow extras.
Beautiful course, great views
This course is a must try if you live in Bell County. greens were dry but otherwise overall a lovely course
Mill Creek revival
Mill Creek is slowly coming back to the great course it was before the floods took out several holes. The management team is making improvements on a continuous basis.
Mill Creek
First this course is hard to find buried back in a subdivision. Even my gps got confused. The rental carts are in worn out shape. The greens are in "terrible" shape. Also if you don't have someone to follow that knows the course you will get lost they are missing signs on several holes and you have to drive down streets in the subdivision. The holes have a beautiful layout but fairways and greens are substandard.
BR1942
The greens were smooth and fast, good for putting, all greens were the same. Most tee boxes were hard , very little grass. Staff very frienfly
With greens improvement, I would play a lot
The course layouts are very fine. There are plenty of great views, brooks, deer, many varied hole layouts. The layouts are actually fantastic.
HOWEVER --- the greens are awful. More than half of them have dead spots with muddy sand being used in a poor attempt to improve the surface. ALL of the greens are very bumpy, probably have not been rolled in months. Additionally, the surfaces have dead (NOT dormant) grass with dirt spots on every green.
It is a shame that the greens are in such terrible condition. The layout and views are as good as I have played in Texas. The greens are the worst I have played in Texas.
Good value
Very fun course. Greens could be in better shape, but they are fast.
I can see where some people might get an unwelcoming vibe, but for the most part people are friendly and corteous.
For under $20, this is a good deal.
Interesting course
Course layout was a little confusing. The course was very challenging. I believe it will be better in the spring and summer when the greens are not dormant. Had trouble keeping the ball on the greens due to conditions. Overall enjoyed the round.
Pleasant course off the beaten path
Mill Creek is steadily making a comeback after all the floods of the last few years. They previously had 27 holes. Currently they have 18 open which consist of the former back 9 + the new 9. Expect to find a few trees and bunkers off the tee boxes, some of the holes are a little tight and other open up and are forgiving. Pay attention creek crossings and lakes as some of the distances are hard to gauge due to undulating fairways and elevated tees or greens. For the most part the greens are in good shape, though there are a few on the back nine that are a bit quick due to thin grass. Most greens are also painted so it can be tough to tell where there is grass so it's worth walking your line to make sure you know what you're putting on. Playing the whites allows you to hit some shorter clubs and minimizes the carries for clearing hazards; playing the blues introduces some challenging shots for the low handicap players. GPS is helpful, take it or use an app if you have one. The 2 trees in the #18 fairway are growing and are a bit awkward, and don't get above the pin on #18 green it has a steep grade from back right to front left! Enjoy the hill country scenery and quiet setting and don't get in a hurry!
Good challenge
Course was in very good condition, but the greens were suffering from dead spots.
The layout changed each hole, so it kept my attention.
I would play it again.
Not your normal.
Course was in fair shape, with some greens a little rough. Don't expect toooo much from the course. Driving range is the worst I have ever seen, just a field with some markers, and balls are a variety of balls from the water hazards. Don't expect any course items like ball washers, yardage markers, or much signage to guide you. Course bathrooms are port-a-potty. Finding many of the tees can be a safari adventure through a variety of cart paths and neighborhoods. Some greens are not visible till you get there, and their yardages on their tee markers seem to be way off. Some of the par fours take a slamming drive, great 3 wood, and then another pitch to hit the green. Good day of fun, but that is golf.
Great and Challenging
This golf course is great. It's a quick pull off of I-35 and through a neighborhood that really takes you back enough that you're hidden from the noise. The course itself is fairly wide-open with several elevated tee-shots. The greens were a 6-7 out of 10, but I also played in October, so take it for what it's worth. It's a good course for the money that you pay.
First time on new layout
Hadn't played here in several years. The new course layout is good. Conditions of fairways and greens are good. Got a bit lost on the back 9, so more signage would have helped. We'll be back.
Aww yea this is nice
Fairways are plush, rough is tough to play from, sand is like Destin, Fl and the greens were med fast and beautiful at 330pm
Fun round at Mill Creek
My first round at Mill Creek in over a year. The routing through two established nines was nice, as the last time out it was still using parts of three nines to get in 18 holes. Par of 69 is not ideal, but made my scorecard appear better, at least. The course was in good shape, although the greens had just been conditioned. Some tee boxes a bit ragged and there are some areas of weedy grass invasion on the course. Pro shop folks and staff were extremely friendly and that was a great surprise compared to some past experiences at this course.
Mill Creek, Salado, TX
Sheila is a beginner and likes this course better than the other 4 that we have played in the area.
Hidden Gem
The course was in excellent condition. The fairways were green, full, allowing the drive to sit perfect for the approach. The greens were large and soft making rewarding those of us who landed on the green with our short or mid range irons. The negative thing about the course was identifying the distance to the green. There were only some holes where the 150/100 markers were posted on the cart path. Overall I recommend this course.
