A Day of Golf
It has been a while since I've golfed at Mill Creek due to living out of country. The course was beautiful and we really enjoyed to the course. The cart we had felt like the front end was going to fall off but we made it through 18 without that happening. I was surprised that the staff at the grill required a minimum of a $10.00 purchase if you pay with a credit card. I only wanted 2 soda's and 2 bags of chips so, this was frustrating. If the owners work on these minor issues then this course may become one of my favorites.
Mill Creek
The course was well cared for, the holes were a good challenge and greens were awesome. The view and layout were very scenic.
Takes some time to get there but worth it.
Course in real good condition, greens very nice indeed, fairways lush and mowed just right except clumps of grass left everywhere but not a real problem. Enjoy playing Lago very much and will go back often, very good price, especially on GolfNow.
Terrible greens
The course needs yardage markers. Changed the hole layout that affects gps as well. A ton of roped off areas because of the rain but a ton on mud out there as well. Lastly the greens were not well kept.
Mill Creek
Nice course- but needs yardage markers, ball washers and some kind of map of course.
Mill Creek revisited
Hadn't been since the floods of 2009 and 2010 when the creek demolished the holes along the creek. Course is now comprised of a hodgepodge of the original RTJ design and the newer 9 holes. Kind of rough shape right now, but lots of mowing and work going on. Lots of topography adds some interest. But you're kind of blind because no garmin due to reroute of holes. Could be an ok course if they continue improvements. Has a par three on back nine that is under a couple of dozen high power transmission lines, making a golf shot impossible.
Overall, More good holes than bad. Staff is trying hard, reasonable ice cold refreshments, and they'll rent you a cooler.
I'll probably revisit in a year or two and see how it has evolved
Continual improvement
The course is clearly improved and improving since I last played here they have recovered several holes since the devastating flood in 2012 that are really quite challenging. Many holes are unique and the overall design is very enjoyable.
Course condition
Course is in poor condition. Greens were not over seeded and were brown. Tee boxes were long and not mowed only part of the course that was green.
Improving, but it's still early in the season
Mill Creek still has a lot of unmet potential.
General Comments:
The food choices are uninspiring and a bit expensive. The on-course signage was pretty spotty. I had to ask directions between 9 and 10 (they've changed the layout since the last time I've played here), and a few holes on the back 9 left us wondering which way to turn. There are no maps on the scorecards, and lots of blind hazards that would affect your shotmaking decisions. I got lucky and hit some stunning fairway shots, but I might not have taken the risk had I known there was water within 10 yards of the landing area. (The par 5 10th is a great example. Despite driving 280+ yards, I couldn't see the extent of the layup area, was too conservative, and chose to lay up again before hitting my 4th onto the green rather than risk a 175+ shot over the water with a stone wall in front of the green)
Comments on the Day:
The greens, while thrillingly fast, reminded our group of Plinko more than shuffleboard. It was frustrating to stroke a great putt, only to have it hit something and turn 45 degrees inches from the hole to miss. There were a number of areas where the dormant grass/hard pan combination made for less than pleasant shots. We noticed some drainage/watering issues in a few areas (mud. Lots of mud.).
All in all, the course has held up fairly well to the winter traffic. It seemed as though the grass was recently becoming active. Even in less than perfect shape, this course is worth your time. It's fun, with a lot of well-placed hazards (for the average golfer) and nice views. Until the grass softens the fairways a bit, it's not always bad to land in the first cut of rough for a fluffier shot though.
Mill creek
Course was nice. They do not have GARMIN. This makes it hard on yardage. Direction is not easy to find the next hole.
Mill creek
The course was nice. But it did not have the garmingps on the course.all of the. Holes were not marked making you not knowing which way to go and the yardage.
Ed Lopez/Mill Creek
I enjoyed my round very much. Very lucky to play with a very nice person from the Dallas Area.
Nice course
Nice course but because of missing yardage markers it a bit tricky
Also to find your way on the back 9 its a little difficult.
Course layout is very nice.
nice old style golf course
Mill Creek has some great holes with an old school country club feel to many of the holes But don't let the big greens fool you - 2 putts are good on almost any hole with the fast speed of the greens and subtle slopes.
Vastly improved
The new ownership is doing a great job getting the course back in shape. Very nice layout. Excellent value.
mill creek
Greens fast but smooth. Challenging lay out. Course was open with no delays. I will play it again.
Really being updated
course is being updated due to sale of ownership. They are obviously spending money and trying hard. Just had recent rains, and course was in fair to good conditions.
Fun to play
Course in great shape, putting greens are excellent. Course well laid out and a lot of fun to play
New layout
The new layout is great and makes for a smoother round of golf. The course is in excellent shape.
Better than last time
My third time golfing Mill Creek. Great value at this course for the money. Some challenging holes if you don't remember where the creeks are, since the hole markings leave a lot to be desired. A couple of questionable greens, but most are in good condition.
