Stonewall Orchard Golf Club

Nice golf course with good layout and conditions. Some challenging holes and beautiful views.

First time playing here. Great staff, great carts, and great at spacing the tee times. Never saw a soul behind or in front and the club was booked for the day. Course was in top condition. Challenging in the right ways. Greens very consistent. Will come back

This is the nicest public course i have played in what i would call "Chicago-land." I loved the layout, fairways were firm and drain well because my drives were magically longer than the last few times i played because there was actually roll. They had slit the greens and were mildly sandy/soft BUT they were flat and rolled true and pretty quick. The staff was super nice, they had someone going around in a court with ice water in a cooler as well. I had an early tee time so i didn't have any issues with pace of play. Pace of play is slow all over the place because of COVID and so many people playing golf as something to do. If you are a better golfer and feel the pace is too slow it's on you to attempt to play through or ask the group in front of you to play with a little more etiquette and know when to pick up the ball or play someone else's shot. If the course is filled with poor players who don't know how to keep pace what do you want these courses to do other than over marshal and shoo golfers/revenue away?

I wrote a poor review of this course because of a couple bad experiences but said some things that I didn’t mean. One of those things was when I said the staff doesn’t care, which I can assure to you they do after someone from the course personally called me to ask me about my experience and what he could do to make it better. That made me feel a lot better about my not so great experience and think back about the day. The course was beautiful. It was in great condition and had an awesome layout. You really should give stonewall orchard a try, but play earlier in the day so that you can get all of them in.

Stonewall orchard has the ability to be a great golf course, but Augusta national would not be worth playing at stonewall’s pace. I’ve never witnessed slower pace of play in my lifetime, and a group of staff who couldn’t care less. We played the first 3 holes in over an hour. Yes, over an hour. The 18th hole looked pretty cool on the scorecard so it was too bad that the 4 hours and 15 minutes of daylight we had to play the round only covered 14 holes. This isn’t a fluke either. If you check the other reviews you will see quite a few complaining about pace. Last time I played here we finished the round but it took us closer to 5 hours than 4. It’s too bad, really. I’d thoroughly enjoy playing here with better pace, but I can honestly say that I will never play here ever again.

Need to be firmer on pace of play., can be a really slow course. I played 12 holes with family over 4 hours, told staff, but nothing happened.

Great layout. Average maintenance. But the absolute worst people to deal with. Don’t ever expect to finish at twilight hours.

Just a thought….

If you want to work at a golf course, but unwilling to stay at work until the sun sets… GET A GRIP.

Pathetic staff.

Based on reviews and write ups I was looking forward to playing this course. However, the pace of play, constant reminders of pace, and gps control of the carts, will make this my first and last trip. I do not blame the players. For the price, groups should e spread out more and NOT rushed. Basically they are booking the tee times way to close with no room for error. I average a 87 so I am not an expert but also can hold my own. In addition, there are many courses in just as good of shape or better for less. I do not recommend.

Course it’s ok but way over price for its condition, not worth $80 during the week and $100 on weekends.

Disappointed by the conditions of most of the greens (divots, dead spots) which was rather slow for being known as one of the fastest greens in the area.

Exceptional golf course. Design, condition, friendly and helpful staff all the way through a wonderful experience. If you have the opportunity, play this golf course.
