Alright, but room for improvement

The course was in pretty good shape for the most part; details below. We enjoyed getting out to play the course and certainly appreciate that many holes are shot specific and take some skill and/or planning.

Our biggest issue was time and course management related to other players and marshals. My group played on a Saturday afternoon using a GolfNow tee time. That certainly helped with the cost as the normal rate is certainly higher than I'm willing to pay. But with the normal amount of players on a somewhat busy Saturday, we were disappointed in the time it took to finish. We planned accordingly yet our round ended up being 4hr 45min and we were racing to beat the setting sun. The marshals were nice and friendly at #1 and I saw them driving the course at least twice during the front nine. But the back nine (starting around 5:00pm) was a completely different story. Do they go home? Is that quitin' time? We arrived at #10 after making a very brief stop at the clubhouse. We were met with a 4-some waiting, a 4-some on the tee box, and another 4-some on the fairway/green. What happened!? Who stopped to order cook-to-order food or take a long bathroom break? How do so many groups get stacked up on a single hole? Bad golfers aside, that just shouldn't happen. And I'm thinking a marshal should've been in the area to at least poke a few people along. So we waited ... as yet another group stacked up behind us. We trudged along through the holes ... waiting (too long) on every tee box. And then came #16 (par 5). We took as long as we could before driving up to the tee box. The group in front of us was still waiting to hit. The group in front of them was waiting at their first shot short of the hazard and cart path. And the group in front of them was still messing on, around, and short of the green. Four (4) foursomes on a single hole with three of the groups just watching. It took FOREVER! It cleared up more or less by 18 because one or two of the groups just left out of frustration. By the time we got back to the clubhouse, the doors were locked and only a couple of cart wranglers were working around the cart barn. Sorry Teravista, but one of my players had to relieve himself against the clubhouse; you left him no choice.

Since the last time I played here, they've added the covered bays on the driving range with Toptracer Mobile. This is for those really wanting to work on their various clubs via software while also giving you a comfortable (e.g. couches) area to work solo or with others. And I believe all range mats have a built-in rubber tee that will automatically tee up a ball using three (3) different height settings. Okay, that's a nice option to have for your driver/woods. I still wish they'd put a fence down the right and left sides to keep the countless number of balls from littering the 1st and 18th fairways.

On the course, we did see a beverage cart at least three (3) times. Can't recall if that was all on the front nine as she may have gone home with the marshals. As for the carts, they're gas powered with plenty of big cup holders, storage, USB ports, sand bottles, and cooler. Unfortunately, they do not have GPS screens. That's not required but is certainly something that more and more courses are providing. Based on the tech at the driving range, I was expecting GPS. But if you're not providing it, then shouldn't you have consistent yardage markings on the holes? I saw maybe two painted markings during the whole round. Just paint the standard markings on the cart paths and be done with it. How hard is that? Or maybe at least put out black and white 150yd poles. Not everyone is out there with yardage apps and smartwatches (yet). And what's with the non par-3 "cart path only" holes? I'm looking around for reasons why you'd need to protect the area and/or the golfers etc but I can't see anything special at all with these holes? Why are you choosing to slow down our play with this? It just doesn't make any sense.

As for actual course conditions, the tee boxes were in generally decent shape, They were a little dry and had definitely seen a lot of action. A few of them had a little extra slope that we'd prefer to not to have to work around. The fairways were also generally fine and consistent. Maybe they'll perk up with the spring and a little more watering. Currently, it's quite a bit of hardpan; don't expect decent divots. The bunkers had plenty of sand but were more compact/hard and therefore a little more difficult to navigate. Several of the greens were just fine. Several had an extra grass/weed/fungus growing on them. I'm not sure what it was but it's not supposed to be there. And then a number of the greens had patches of dead spots (due to fungus?) ... some they were trying to fill in and some they weren't. For what they're charging, I was surprised to see the greens in this condition.

TerribleVista

This is the worst course in the Country. Overpriced. No grass in the fairways. Greens are under repair. They havnt watered all winter. Pace of play was ridiculous 5 and 1/2 hours. No marshals. No food. Ipads were down. Rude people throughout the complex. Would never play again or recommend this course. GOAT. Ranch.

Awful

Wouldn’t recommend to anyone ever. First off $125 for a 5 hour round. Second the course was in awful condition even for this time of the year. Most of the greens were patchy and they just dumped sand in the middle of most of the greens. Didn’t see the cart girl until hole 12 and the clubhouse wouldn’t let us buy any drinks or food because the iPad was dead even tho we had cash. Cart girl didn’t have food neither. Had to wait 10-15 minutes every hole for the group in front of us. Definitely the worse course I’ve played in Austin so far since being here for a week.

Tough winter transition.

Courses this time of year are tough to maintain. I had better expectations for the greens than what I experienced. Bev Cart prices are crazy. $7 for Dorito and KitKat. $15 for 2 beers.. $100 to play w cart. For all that I did expect alot more on the course.
Did play with some great members though that were top notch people. Thanks to Paul, Jeb, and Mike for the great rd.

Course in good shape

This is a fun course and the staff was very good to work with. I see several reviews about slow play. This may be the case in weekends however Wednesday afternoon it was pretty wide open. The r boxes are in great shape, fairways are decent, and the greens are in average shape. The out of bounds area is washed out after what appears to be a lot of rain. If you hit your ball OB it’s gone!

Overall enjoyed the course is fun and challenging, would recommend and would play again.

Pace of play horrible

I played this course today for the first time and had a horrible first impression. Greens are in horrible shape and have no rollout along the fringe of greens. None of the bunkers were racked recently. It was like hitting out of cement. Pace of play was terrible. It took 4 and half hours and only got in 14 holes. Never saw a ranger to report the issue except when they came and told us to bring in the carts. Not worth the money. Driving range was only bright spot. Customer service was not great either at club house. I do not recommend this course.

Great week day golf

Booked a 1:00 tee time on a Thursday at Teravista. The course was in fair condition, some of the greens are damaged (likely due to weather). The pace of play was great! Our group finished in less than 4 hours. Pins were tucked in corners, made it a little more challenging. Overall, enjoyed it and hope the pace of play is similar next time.
*Note - the last time I played At Teravista it was on a weekend. The pace of play was painful, 5-10 min. wait on every hole. Over 5 hour round. Hopefully the course Marshall’s will help speed up slow play on weekends.

Slow Play

I only play here as a last resort. It's always a five hour round. They either have too many tee times per hour or poor marshalling,

4hr 45 min pace of play

Another weekend round where management over booked the course. Everything was full: the course, the parking lot, and the driving range. Our group was stuck behind another group that had no business hitting from the tips. The Marshalls didn't do much. At least the weather was pretty and the course looked great while sit waiting for the group in front of you. They finally mowed the OB stuff so you can actually see the fairway from the tee box on hole 8. You can already tell the winter grass and poana are taking over the tee boxes and greens... Hopefully they can stay on top of that so the course doesn't look terrible again when summer 2024 comes around.
