About
Conveniently located near downtown San Antonio not too far from Austin, Vaaler Creek Golf Club has a memorable layout of gently rolling hills dotted with creeks, ponds and lakes. The course begins with a challenging front nine and then eases up a bit on the back nine, but overall it is a formidable test. The greens are tricky and demanding, especially on the front nine where there are some severe slopes and undulations. The back nine greens are a bit flatter but they still require careful attention. The rolling, contoured fairways are lined with trees and there are deep bunkers strategically guarding the greens, but luckily there are only seventeen of them. Water hazards come into play throughout and there are also several doglegs and blind shots if there wasn’t enough to keep you on your toes.

Great experience all around
Even with a little bit of drizzle throughout the round that had no effect on how great the conditions of this course were. Greens best, fairways, and tee box’s I’ve played in a while near SA. Highly recommend even though it’s cart path only still an amazing experience.
Good course
Everything good but pace of play. Played front nine in 2 hours and back nine in 3 hours, waiting on every hole, very backed up.
Great experience
Due to county water restrictions, course has been cart path only for nine months or so, but because of that the fairways were spectacular! The greens were perfect and their usual challenging self. Bunkers were good. Almost all tee boxes were in great shape. We played behind a painfully slow group, so had to wait to hit all of our shots - and only had the group behind hit into us only once😐. All in all, a great golf experience despite the cart path only.

This course is in great shape and fun layout.
However cart path only was not very convenient course. It has lot of up and down and split fairways. But fun and worth it.

Very Nice Course
Only negatives was pace of play and cart path only. Cart path only kept this course pristine, so totally understandable especially with rain recently. Did see some weedy greens, but did not effect the putting at all. Greens were smooth and true. Very well maintained. Loved this course and will be back.
Beautiful course
Predicted weather showed minimal rainfall. Unfortunately we only got 8 holes in before we had to call it quits due to the rain. If played all 18 holes would’ve been amazing. Hope to get back out and try again with better weather.
Marshalls like Buzzards
I play golf every week. Top courses in town too JW, La Cantera, Canyon Springs. I have never seen so many marshalls buzzarding around constantly. It was starting to get uncomfortable. Non of whom seemed friendly or made any effort to engage in friendly conversation. I could say it seemed as if it were because we are not locals but they were buzzarding everyone not just our 4some so this must just be how they roll. Nonetheless it’s awkward and comes across ill intended. The course itself is a gem and I would play it again. Perhaps they. An learn to relax so their customers can relax as well.

Vaaler is in great condition, staff is always great !

Beautiful Course
Played this course this past weekend, it is in great shape and is fun to play. It is challenging and beautifully laid out, I will definitely be back for more rounds.
