Olympia Hills Golf Course
Olympia Hills Golf Course is very exciting and enhances San Antonio's reputation as a golf destination. A unique combination of natural topography and man-made mounds and bunkers make this a super course. Native South Texas vegetation and golf course grass seed formulations on fairways and greens will provide state-of-the-game playing surfaces. The views are spectacular, with several holes playing to greens well below the tees, while other lead to a significant rise to reach the putting surface. Fairways, which on some holes are tight, are often sloped and guarded by bunkers. The tips will not be played by the faint hearted, but with four sets of tee boxes, the course can be enjoyed by all levels of players.

Great Hidden Secret
Play Olympia often for it is in great shape with the exception of a few troubled greens that heavy rains interrupted over seeding procedures! However, that being said the course is in great shape and improving daily. All sand traps have refurbished with new sand and maintained properly!
Fairways giving great rollout for this time of year so take advantage of a long drive!
Food is excellent and new carts with GPS are very accurate to center of greens!
Can't wait until Spring and everything turns free again for some fantastic golf. The course has a reputation of playing hard but I find it just the opposite. Hit them straight and good scores will follow!
Very good from start to finish
Really enjoyed this golf course, which presents a very nice variety of holes, good conditions, and interesting greens. This is a challenging course by public golf standards, and demands reasonably struck shots right up until the finishing holes, which open up and allow you to end with your foot on the gas.
Tale of Two Nines
I spoke with the pro shop the day before playing that I would be coming alone and he assured me they'd take of me and they did. Every staff member I encountered was cordial and helpful. I loaded up in an EZ-Go cart w/out GPS and headed out to the practice area. The grass on the range was nice & green while the balls are limited flight and are a little worn. The short game area is tight but just having one is a big plus. The putting green was in very good shape and mirrored the greens on the course.
The starter was very friendly and got me off without a hitch. Pace of play was not an issue today. The first nine winds through and up and down some narrow fairways shaped by dense trees vegetation on both sides. Playing for "ground slice" is something that needs to be considered with the sloped, dormant fairways offering extra run out but not always in the right direction. Following your tee shot on #11 you drop down into a flat, less wooded tract of land where the paralleling holes become visible and the wind more noticeable. #16-#18 offer a nice finishing stretch with a challenge, yet an opportunity to pick up a shot.
The highlight of this round was definitely the greens. They had excellent speed, tracking as well as a firmness that still held well. All very consistent throughout. The undulations help defend and being on wrong side of some pins could quickly become frustrating. The bunkers had decent amount of sand, but some could use an additional rake.
Top notch experience and value. Definitely a re-play.
Great course on a budget
Olympia Hills is a fantastic course. Conditions are always very nice. Conveniently consolidated driving, chipping and putting areas. Military friendly.
This Course is All Grown Up
When this course was first completed back about 14 years ago it was a nice and scenic, but relatively easy, course. Not any more. The trees have filled in nicely and the fairways are much narrower. The front nine is a narrow parkland design, but the
back nine is more links style tract.
This is a tough but enjoyable course to play. We played behind a slower group that allowed us to play through at the turn. The tees and greens are in good condition as well as the fairways. There are many elevation changes here.
There's also a fair amount of high level noise from Randolph AFB, and IH 35 on the back nine.
The pro shop was friendly and the course Marshall is very effective.
There was some unexpected interference from the mowing crews. They move around without concern for the golfers on this course.
Overall, the course is in great shape and plays pretty long. Straight drives are required here, as there are many hidden creeks on the perimeter.
