About
River Bend Golf Club combines some of the most unique play in the area with a course designed to provide an exciting golfing experience for players of all levels. Beautiful oak trees and meandering streams give the golf course its character, with elevation changes, multi-tiered greens and challenging areas of forced carry-including water features-and areas of forced lay-up in a links-style course, especially on the front 9. The back 9 is a more traditional golf course. All of this combined with the Texas wind makes River Bend a formidable challenge for even scratch golfers. It's one of the only only true links courses in south Texas. The staff is super and the course is very affordable. River Bend Golf Club has a unique practice facility that features an aqua range with an island green. A large putting green makes the Maverick a super practice area.
Distance: About 33 miles southeast of downtown San Antonio and worth the trip. Take Rt 181 from the Southeast side of San Antonio. Located off the 181 business loop (4th street here in the city), coming north or south off Highway 181. The loop runs north and south, like Highway 181, and runs about 1/2 mile west of it. The course and facilities are located in the Avalon Subdivision.

Great day out
Course is in great shape, and had a blast playing. The only negative is there are houses everwhere!everywhere!! So being nervous I would hit one definitely got in my head. I live near by so I am sure I will play it a lot. Bring snacks, not much to pick from at the club house.
Played the course however the conditions weren't the best. The greens were great but the ground was very hard which made it hard to chip and pitch around the greens
Great Course
The staff is incredible. The greens the fairways were in great shape. Very impressed with the layout there was only one hole that needed a little work but other than that everything was fantastic I would definitely read it a course that you would like to play within the next 10 to 15 days!
Good course layout
Enjoyed the course play for the price on golf now. Fairways and greens need a little more work. Would recommend this course, some holes require shot play and placement. Will be back soon.
Decent
Staff is always friendly and courteous. Course could be in better condition. Carts suck but I hear they have newer ones arriving. FEES are fair just won't play there twice a week for that price need to come up with an incentive that will want you too. Not necessarily less of a fee but something!!!

Really great place to play!! Excellent course for all skill levels
Weekend Golfer
Fairways and tee boxes need mowing. Greens are full of some kind of blight that are killing the greens.
A course marshal would be helpful on the weekends to help keep up the pace of play if the course continues to allow groups of five and six to play together.
The staff members were very helpful pleasant to the customers.
Great course that just needs care.
