TPC Harding Park ranks among the most famous municipal courses in the country, along with Torrey Pines South and Bethpage Black. TPC Harding Park, which is part of the San Franciso Recreation and Parks Department, hugs the shores of Lake Merced in close proximity to the Lake Merced Golf Club, The Olympic Club and San Francisco Golf Club. Dating to 1925, it has a long history of tournament golf among its stately Monterey Cypress trees. Byron Nelson won back-to-back San Francisco Opens in 1944-45. The PGA Tour's Lucky International in the 1960s attracted winners such as Gary Player (1961), Gene Littler (1962), Jackie Burke Jr. (1963), Ken Venturi (1966) and Billy Casper (1968).

After falling on hard times, the course received a $16-million renovation in 2002-03 that brought it back into the tournament fold, hosting the 2005 World Golf Championship-American Express Championship, the 2015 WGC-Match Play Championship, The Presidents Cup in 2009, the Charles Schwab Cup Championship from 2010-12 and the 2020 PGA Championship, its first major.

Wow!

What a great course. Very challenging especially playing on a windy day. I decided to walk and treasured every moment, every hole. Will definitely play again when I’m in SF. Thanks!

Fun course to play!

A short drive from city center San Francisco, this TPC course is a gem to find and to play! We were a group of 7 playing two flights and were greeted by friendly and helpful staff. Rental clubs were great and loved the souvenir bag/TPC golf balls were nice to take back home. The course is in great condition, cart path only and beverage cart attendants came around a couple of times (wish they came around more often though!). Greens were as fast as the pace of play so this course isn't for the faint of heart. We had a great time and would love to come back again! Thanks for a great experience TPC Harding Park!

Family Time!

We were in San Francisco for a family wedding and sought after a round at Harding Park for a fun, yet challenging round of golf. Our group was comprised of varying skill levels and we all had a blast. The wind is certainly a factor here (don’t be afraid to add 2 clubs to a shot into the wind) but the course plays very fairly and is relatively forgiving. I would recommend this course to anyone looking for a solid round of golf in San Francisco!

Great course

This was a great course to play. However if I were to play again I would make sure to walk the course. Didn’t know it was cartpath only. I would recommend this course highly.

Best course in the Bay

This place speaks for itself. Rounds later in the day when you can get out there by yourself or pair with another single are some of the most peaceful rounds I’ve ever played. Hot Deal rates are always worth it here.

Historic, not what I would expect from a TPC venue

Need drink holders in the pull cart. Clubhouse was in poor shape. Can easily see how tough the course is and the history behind it. But greens were like shag carpet. Didn’t putt true once.

Good value for money if you can get it under $100

Course itself is fantastic, apart from the odd bare patch from what I presume is some sort of grass disease they course is in fantastic condition. The greens were slower than expected for a PGA major venue but still rolled just as good. For some reason even though the course is pretty wide they have made the fairways extra skinny so you have to really be precise off the tee. The rough is not stupid crazy long but it’s punishing at times which makes it a good challenge.
If you can get a good deal on this course for under $80 you will feel like you’ve grabbed yourself a bargain but anything over $100 I feel you might be a little disappointed. Keep an eye out for those deals as you will thoroughly enjoy this track!
