Needs a little TLC
Not a bad course but greens were very rough and bumpy. Loved the scenery on some holes. Fairways are waiting for some spring growth and watering. Cannot believe they want $4 for a logo ball. Friendly staff.
Course still needs work
Course layout was fun. However, course needs attention. Greens need work. Would recommend course after needed improvements are made but not at this time.
Turnbull Bay
We are snowbirds and enjoying playing this course once a week. We always look forward to playing Turnbull Bay
BEAUTIFUL SCENERY
FRONT NINE GREENS, TEE BOXES AND FAIRWAYS WERE HORRIBLE, LIMITED GRASS ALL AROUND.
BACK NINE SHOWED IMPROVEMENT, A LITTLE MORE ENJOYABLE BUT FRUSTATING. sEEMS TO BE AN IRRIGATION ISSUE. vERY DOUBTFUL ABOUT PLAYING THE COURSE AGAIN.
The greens were very nice. Had alot of slope.
The course is in new Smyrna beach so you would expect it to be a very nice course. But it is just a average place to play.
Undulating greens but in good condition
Challenging course due to the amount of water, trees and sand.
Greens were in good condition. Fairways were not very good which is true of a lot of courses. Mostly due to lack of rain.
course needs some work- tee boxes and fairways below average
The play on the day I was there was slow and didn't see any rangers. I only saw 3 ballwashers on the whole course. the greens were average at best but quite bumpy. The tee boxes were below average and the fairways were pretty thin in places. The sand traps were well taken care of and freshly raked out.
Confidence Booster!
I shot my lowest score ever on this course on a drizzly Tuesday afternoon. The rain kept a lot of players away, and the wife and I were able to play our round in under 4 hours.
The course is very open with little water in play. It's in pretty good shape and the greens are fast and true. Five different tee boxes will accomodate golfers of all ages and skill levels.
We will definitely be back to play this course again.
Interesting layout
2 Differewnt nines. Front nine is typical tree lined Florida course. Back nine more modern & wider open. All greens in good shape: fast & true. Fairways fairly carpeted. Can tell that winter rye was never applied. Not a pristine course but fairly maintained. I dont mind seeing occasional weeds: they don't interfere w/ swing. Practically no cart paths; dirt paths. Staff was super friendly. Carts have bag covers & windshields that came in handy because of cold & wind. Will definitely play again for the bargain price I just played it for.
Interesting layout
Although the course layout is interesting the fairways and some greens need work. Fairways were pretty chopped up and greens were thin but relatively fast.
Course has a good layout but it still needs a lot of work to bring it up to the standards of other area courses.
I played at The Preserve early last year and the new owners were saying that they would put a lot of work in sprucing up the course. I did not find the course any better this year. The fairways need a lot of work. The tee offs are nicer and the greens are in fair shape. I found my ball was rolling to the right a lot. Maybe I was not reading the course well but the banks along the water seemed to pull the ball into the hazards. The traps are plentiful around the greens but you can play well out of them. May not go back this year. I am hopeful for this course..but work must be put in it to make it more interesting and more fair.
lots of water
the hot dog on the turn was super. everyone was very pleasant....a great day
I enjoy the way the course was laid out through the wet lands - it truely lives up to the image of a "preserve"
The greens were fast and true; however they were hard and didn't hold shots coming in. The fairway bunkers were in bad shape - poorly groomed leaving many ridges and depressions. The overseeded tee boxes were in great shape.
Interesting, well designed course.
Many interesting holes. Even though houses can be close, most of the course has a spacious natural feel. Nice rides through the bush. Very good value for the money.
Interesting layout, fair with challenges
The course was in shabby shape, however, the greens and tee boxes were fine. It just wasn't a pretty course because of the condition. Good and fair design with the potential of being a fine golf course. The green fees were way to high for the course condition. Interesting design with great potential.
Good Layout
Nice layout, not in great shape though. Half of the Greens were good. half not.,
Enjoyed playing this course.
Very enjoyable course. Being from the north and used to bent grass I find the grass a bit difficult but I am getting used to it.
A good variety of holes with different clubs for approaches.
Played with 3 people from the New England area and they all enjoyed the course.
RE your review site.....Found it difficult to move the sqaures to where I wanted.
Fun and fair and affordable
Very enjoyable round at Turnbull Bay. Nice mix of styles hole to hole: Many longer, open holes where you can pull the driver out of the bag and let it rip, but some where 3W or even shorter is smart play. Water comes into play on many holes, but more laterally than forced carries (although there are a few forced carries, particularly one long one from the tee on the last par 5 from the back tees). The greens were in fair shape, a little on the slow side but rolled true. Turnbull Bay is very scenic in that it is built in the "Florida woods" with lots of palms, pines, and oaks. The cart path between holes sometimes meanders under the canopy of the woods like a living tunnel. But those woods and water sometimes narrow the landing zones. My accuracy was poorer than usual for me today, and I paid the price with several lost in the woods or the water. In summary, a challenging yet playable course, with tees appropriate for all skill levels.
