Very nice course
Today was the second time I have played Heron Glen. The course is in very good condition! There are enough trouble spots but they are fair and without gimmicks. I have played with 7 members and everyone is so very friendly and welcoming! I highly recommend this course and will definitely play it again!
Good rate on golfnow
Strange layout, played with members which helped. Front 9 greens great shape but back 9 greens not. Mowed unevenly. Rest of course great. Got a good rate thru Golfnow.
No showers!
No locker or shower facilities.
Conditions were good. Interesting/quirky layout.
Staff was friendly, except the starter-he was a crusty old man!
I’d go back, but not with a huge endorsement. The lack of showers was frustrating.
Poor greens for semi private club. Would think the members would force changes
Winter Fun
When playing Heron Glen it seems so busy but afternoon tee times thru Golf Now are super. 4 hrs. and wonderfully organized course.Shorter seniors boxes but very challenging.
Good fun
We were teamed up with two members who had course knowledge and were very helpful. Nice layout would recommend
Somewhat Disappointed
Booked on Golfnow.
This course was as is always one of my favourite courses. Great layout and great staff.
Practice facility is top drawer and is included in the price.
Due to the rain were on a golf cart only rule. That’s fine as I understand that the course needs to be protected.
We played the course in November and the greens were a bit bumpy. Today the practice green seemed good, however the course greens were not as good. It is Frustrating when you watch a birdie or par putt rolling to the hole and then bounce off line. Wish I can say it only happened once but our whole fore-some had the same issues. I do understand the lumpy donut theory but that was not the case. I believe that people who do not repair their ball marks is a part of their problem. I can’t understand that is an issue as most of the golfers who play there are members. As I member at my own course I always fix mine and any others I see. Anyhow we played with two great fellows ( Randy and John), from London Ontario. Was a very enjoyable day and as we got a deal on Golfnow I rated 4 stars for value for the money due to a reduced price. I still love the course and I do hope that the greens will come back to where they were a few years ago.
fun layout
course is challenging yet not too hard.greens were a tad
slow, which is unusual for this course.would highly
recommend this course
Heron glen 1/31/2020
From the minute I pulled in the parking lot, I was greeted with a golf cart that was wiped down and ready to go. Then upon entering the club house I was greeted professionally and the check in process was expedited and was directed to the complimentary driving range. I was a single and the starter paired me up and we were on our way. The course it self was in very good shape. The only negative was that the carts were not equipped with gps. But I had an app on my phone that gave me the yardages I needed. They do have yardage stakes as well.. round was completed in 4 hours., it was an exceptional day on the course., very nice layout.
Nice Course - Very Crowded
Nice course. It is a shot gun start. There are 2 foursomes at each hole - maximum capacity. It took much longer than usual to play 18 holes. There is quite a distance between some of the holes. The bathrooms were closed in season; no cups for water available.
-------- READ THIS REVIEW AND SAY YES TO PLAYING HERE ----------
First: I belong to and have played at multiple country clubs over the past 15 years
Secondly : Any bad review at this place is from someone way to picky and probably does not review anything fairly. There is nothing bad period. I read many reviews before I played and it almost turned me off but I went anyways.
To all who have left poor reviews:
Keep in mind that they are allowing you to play at there private club for a very reasonable rate.
Now for the reason your reading this:
1. The course is phenomenal, beautifully maintained and has many flowers and pretty trees.
2. Many people complained about the length of the drive between holes and the drive between houses ( This is very normal at many courses and here it is no different. The length between holes is not long at all )
3. The drive from hole 9- hole 10 is like 2 minutes. I'll give directions at the end.
4. The shotgun start ( Tues, wed and Saturdays at 1pm tee times )is actually very cool and all they do is send 4somes to each hole and everyone starts at the same time. Most of the players are members and very few guest. This is because they have many players and they have it nailed perfectly. You'll be hitting your first shot at 1:07-1:12 no problems.
5. The staff could not have been nicer, the starters have everything in order and that is refreshing.
6. There is no one to load your bag ( who cares, the carts are like 10 feet away ) plus you don't have to spend extra money on tips)
7. There is no beverage cart- I'm there to play golf, not drink and eat.
8. The condition of the fairways and greens were perfect, the greens rolled about average in speed. great for the average player. The ball sits up nice on the fairway or rough for easy hitting.
9. The carts are fast and nice, not brand new but perfect for this course. No gps on them so bring your own gps or go off the well marked course markings.
So now for some suggestions if you choose this course:
1. Bring a credit card as they do not take cash at this course.
2. Show up early so you can get through the security gate and get to the clubhouse
3. The starter wants you at the range and in your cart ready to go by 12:45 for the 1pm shotgun start
4. Hit balls because the range is beautiful and well worth it ( balls are included with round)
5.Buy or ask for the course book, you will need it for a few holes to play it better.
6.Directions to #10 ( leave holes nine and head down the path, make a left turn onto the street, go to the first stop sign and go right, go to the next stop sign, after that hole #10 cart path is about 25 feet past that stop sign. Its about a 2 minute drive, no big deal, carts are fast )
Thanks for reading this and I hope you see it the same way!!!!
