Ocala Palms Golf Club

A real beauty but the front nine is unforgiving to mishit shots so bring your A game. Greens recently aerated --- making for bumpy putts --- only thing kept from a 5 rating for course conditions. Otherwise a great place to play a challenging round.

Not your typical Florida flat course layout. Almost felt like playing a mountain course- course was in good condition and had some challenging holes.

The course is a bit tight and there are a few shots that require local knowledge . Greens where fairly fast and overall experience was great .

Staff (Chrissy) is a delight to work with, getting going was a breeze.
Course was in great shape, ball rolled out good, greens were fast and a challenge to putt on.

Big peeve was rakes left out of sand traps, effected 2 shots. Believe the group outing ahead of us did this, locals know better

Play this course a number of times over the winter. It has been in fantastic shape until the last few weeks . The course is very dry and the turf base in the rough is sketchy. It doesn't look like they are giving it enough water. The greens are not as good as they have been this season. Still in nice shape but not as good as it has been.

We enjoyed our round. They could improve the description of the course. There are several blind shots that are hard to determine on the score card.

Very friendly course from senior tees. Greens were good and ran fast. Several blind tee shots for a first time player. Played 18 holes in three hours

I was amazed at the quality of this course. I wasn't expecting much, especially since I paid so little but, the course was in very nice condition. I'll definitely go back.

Greens and fairways are in excellent shape, bunkers could be softer. Not long but challenging. The restaurant was closed for renovation but is reopening by the end of the month.

Many holes with narrow fairways and large depressions. Greens on the front nice were super fast, a bit slower on the back.

Very good condition and getting better. With the over-seeding and cooler temperatures this course is going to be a favorite.

I had been wanting to play it. Close to home, not crowed was good. Not sure I will play it again unless part of an event.

Played on Oct. 20 2016. Got a great price on Golfnow. Arrived a little before my tee time and had to wait an hour to tee off due to a shot-gun tournament that played way slower than had expected. Not the golf course’s fault; typical for amateurs “that think more highly of [their game] than they ought.”

Outside of that, I can’t mention another single fault. Pleasant staff, pleasant group, great course conditions, and beautiful weather. Only complaint was my game, which has no reflection on the course in question.

If you’re a short hitter, such as I am, I suggest you play the 5900 yard tees. I normally play from around 6300 yards, but they have a choice between 6400 and 5900, which makes a huge difference. I tried the 6400 yard tees the first time out, and, couldn’t reach the fairways. Didn’t score too badly, but wasn’t often putting for birdie. Played the 5900 yard tees my second visit, and enjoyed it much more.

Good greens, good fairways, top-notch staff. The layout is tricky, especially if you’ve never played it before, but challenging and fun. Give the course 5*’s.

My wife and I played this course for the second time.
The course is in good shape. The grounds keepers need to be told that when a golfer is getting ready to tee off they don't need to be driving within 10 feet of the tee box and kicking up dirt. Very distracting.
Other than that we had a great time.
The restaurant was closed for remodeling so we did not get a chance to try that.

No food at club house. Not even a beverage cart.

I have been playing local Citrus Co. courses for the last 9 months, and was looking for a different course to change things up. I picked Ocala Palms and really enjoyed the round. The layout was nothing like I expected, but it was pretty challenging and worth the drive. The greens were the best I have played this year; they held an approach shot, and rolled quick and true. I look forward to a return trip soon.

This course hasn't always been in good shape, but it is now. We were pleasantly surprised how good the greens were. It has some interesting holes Course management is doing a good job.
