Only 9 holes open
Due to damage, only 9 holes were open but the fairways need weed killer badly and added to this, the only 9 open the greens had been aerated so it was not a true reflection of a round of golf.
why not just say
I had played this course at the first of the year and course was in fair condition but I thought it might be just winter. It wasn't, we arrived yesterday at 1pm and there was nobody else playing. We also found out that the front nine was closed due to renovations so we had to play the back nine twice, no biggy. The green conditions weren't all that good either. It was hot and there was no water untill the 15th I think it was. when we got there I purchased 2 poweraid drinks(small bottles) and 2 small candy bars it was just under 10 dollars. The only real positive was the gps unit in the cart. Wish the nicer courses did it. Hopefully after renovations it will be better, I probably won't know.
this course needs maintained
course was not busy. tees ,fairway rough and green need work.greens were very poor.tee off at12pm and finsh at 4pm .when I was done golf shop was close left cart out back.only one car in parking .need alot of maintained.
needs work and water fairways and greens just OK
We got to only play 9 holes due to storm. The overall condition is borderline. We may go back and give it one more try. I would never pay more than $22 during prime season if there was no place else to play. We paid $15 for two of us and luckily Golf Now gave us credit refund for 9 holes due to bad storm. GolfNow handled this well after calling.
Greens need attention.
The greens were scalped and really bare in spots. Needs attention.
Tee boxes need to be flattened out, they are dome shaped. Greens are super fast because they seem very dried out.
It is in better condition than in the fall, but it's difficult to hit off such crooked tee boxes.
Putting on the browns.
This is the third time I have brought a group to play at Marion Oaks, and this time I thought it would be better. Now dont get me wrong, for 15 bucks, what can you expect, but It was brought to my attention that the 15 bucks was an internet special only. If i had paid the regular rate, this review would have been considerably lower. The "club house" has a limited stock of everything, and they dont have a large variety of anything, except warrior equipment, which btw, owns this course. Then you get out to the tee boxes and overall they are ok, but then comes the browns ( ie; the greens) absolutely the worst in ocala.
Course has great potential
Fairways and greens are in good condition. Attention and repair to cart paths and deep bumps in rough is warranted.
Well groomed, great place to play - one of my favorites in the area.
I play the course frequently and enjoy it every time. It's well kept, the staff is courteous, and there's just enough challenge to keep it interesting for me as a novice golfer. I'd recommend it to anyone in or passing through the Ocala FL area.
Interesting but needs better conditioning.
Well designed course with many interesting holes. Most greens in good condition but fairways and tee boxes need improvement. Three sets of tee boxes so big difference in overall distance - over 7000, about 6500 and 5300. Not busy so played quickly.
there is no water on the course
is not one of the best courses in the area but went because it was
a good value. there was a hole that had a broken sprinkler had and was flooding half of the hole. and on another hole i saw the
sprinkler system come on and get other golfers wet. most likely
will not be back.
Great value for money
Staff very friendly, super cheeseburger at their grill, greens and fairways in excellent condition
Great course. Greens were in exceptional shape. Very little water.
Great course. Greens were in exceptional shape. Very little water.
Great value for a long hitters course
Fairly wide open and no real trouble to get into; but be prepared to grip it & wrip it on most holes. A good drive still means a medium to long iron shot into the green. Greens in good shaped and very puttable.
Greens were exceptional.
Very good value for the money. At the rack price it would still be a good value. I was most empressed with the greens, some of the best I've played on in some time. The restaurant is good for lunch after the round.
Better than it used to be!
Its a pretty nice course but there is some white sand in areas and quite a few fallen trees. There are no water hazards but the course has many dog legs to keep play interesting. Up-to-date carts with GPS systems.
This course is rough and you need a chiropractor after you play it.
Slow play. Greens difficult. Fairways - you need to move your balll to find green grass. They have cleaned some parts of it well. Will not play again.
A challenging course.
Enjoyed the course layout. Greens and Tee Boxes were great, however, not enough grass in the fairway so you must pick the ball clean to make a proper shot.
Great greens !
long course with lots of doglegs......little rough around the edges but tees fairways and greens were nice.....these were the best greens we putted on while playing 6 courses in 6 days in the Ocala area......Warrior Golf has done a nice job bringing this course back.....2 interns there from Colorado were very nice young men......new carts with nice GPS
