Exactly the type of course we need more of
Simply put, Riviera is a revelation. A 1950s throwback of modest length (6,200 yards) that is extremely walkable and wonderfully-kept, with green fees topping out below $50 (even in prime snowbird season), it stands out as a model for what public golf can be at its best.
Strong players who are tempted to take Riviera's small footprint to be a sign that it is not a worthy place to think again; "Riv" is one of America's longest-running professional golf hosts, with the local professional Riviera Open having been contested every year since 1960 except one. The course defends itself slyly, with pushed-up greens where short-siding yourself can lead to quicker-than-expected bogeys, especially when the surfaces are firm and fast.
A final word in praise of Riv. Mike Boss, head pro for 40 years at the course, does not keep a formal tee sheet. Instead, golfers wanting to visit may call up, request a general time to play, and will be directed toward a softer time on the schedule if their requested time is going to be busy. This more organic way of managing golf course traffic adds to Riviera's relaxed feel.
If you're ever in the area, play this golf course.

Great Course
Golf course in excellent shape. Greens were smooth and fast.. I think fairways were over watered. Did not like hitting off wet fairways. Second best course I have played in Daytona area.. Will definitely go back.
ONCE AGAIN----PERFECT :)
Not going to bore you. My favorite course and the BEST greens around
Course is fun to play and in really good shape.
Good Florida course. Challenging distance and enough water and sand to make you concentrate.
Smooooth greens
I love this course and play it every
Chance I get..not only is it a great course with wonderful green, the staff is absolutely great. Always friendly and helpful. Restaurant/ Bar is really good nice bartenders/ servers and good food.Did I mention the best greens around?!
Always a great experience
I have played this course about 30 times since I moved here from Louisville Ky. and I can say without any doubt THIS IS MY FAVORITE GOLF COURSE! The course is always well conditioned and very playable even on rainy days where cart path only is needed, there is not a constant cart path so easy transition. Great bar and food and drink. The staff is AAA+++ and Mike the Manager is always pleasant. The nicest, fastest greens I have EVER played.
Clasic Old Style Course with very good greens
This is a short, classic old style course where the holes are close together and the next tee box is close to the greens. Great for walking and classic old style. The greens are very smooth and fast and well kept. There are very few non-repaired ball marks which makes putting great and the greens run true. The course is quite short at 6,200 yds from the tips. Almost all the greens have a false front so make sure to hit on the green and not short or in front of the greens.
The rough is thick. The bunkers are well kept and manicured.
The guys in the pro shop and the starterare very friendly, helpful and accommodating as much as they can. A pleasure to deal with.
The condition of the course is not like some of the nicer courses, but at the same time the greens fees are very reasonable and a great value. Located very close to Daytona Beach and great to play if you are only able to fit in nine holes.
The driving range was quite beat up with lots of bare areas and no grass. The practice area is nice with chipping areas and a practice bunker. All the range balls are older balls that at some time were pulled out of the water or were lost balls that have been recycled and are now used as range balls.
Nice course
First time on this course. Played with a friendly group of regulars that helped me around. Fairways and greens were top notch. Was worth the 35 minute drive to get there. I will be back!!
Riviera and Rain
We had a tee time that was threatened by the forecast. We hoped to get at least 9 in as we we prepaid and couldn't cancel unless the course closed. So we got to the course early, talked to the proshop and starter and since they had a few cancellations the first three holes were open. We got out early, had three little squalls that required a slicker to deal with and had a most enjoyable round that took three hours. Course was in great shape. as we pulled out of the parking lot, the black clouds above, we watched as the predicted rain came with a vengeance. Had we started at our tee time, we would've only gotten in 9 holes. Much thanks to the pro shop and starter.
Course In Great Shape
I highly recommend this course . Greens roll great and true. Fairways are all in great shape. Rough is challenging but fair. People are very friendly. Nice job Riviera
Great Old-School Daytona Gem
I had never heard of this course and decided to give it a shot when I couldn't get a tee time at the LPGA facility and I am glad I couldn't because they were aerating the greens there. From start to finish, Riviera was a great experience, starting with really friendly staffi. Although my Hot Deal was for 1:30, I arrived at noon and they told me I could tee off anytime I liked. This course was built in 1953/1954 but it had a more modern feel to it. The overall condition was excellent with lush, well-kept fairways and nice, medium speed greens. The carts were even new. I will definitely play this course again.
Only finished 9 due to rain but DEFINATELY going back
I have played Riviera several times and it is always a great experience if not score. The staff is fantastic and the course is always in great shape. Be Aware The greens are FAST. not complaining, I love it. As fast as the greens at Valhalla and 1/4 the price. I LOVE THIS COURSE!
Unexpected Gem
I went to the course the day before my tee time to hit some balls at the range and that made me wonder about the course. The grass on the range was nicely mown but not well kept and the angle at which you hit is odd. The range balls also left something to be desired. My fears were unfounded as the next day the course was in tremendous shape with closely mown green fairways with only moderately long rough with wonderfully true rolling greens that weren't too tough to read. I enjoyed playing this course and returned two days later to find the course in the same wonderful condition it had been in two days earlier. In addition, the staff was very helpful. Full marks!
Loved it
Want to keep this a secret from everyone else, because this course is a gem. In the best condition around. Can not say enough good things about it. I'll be back.
Riviera CC 4.29.17
Paired with a friendly Canadian couple. Enjoyable round, felt pushed by 2-some behind us.
Course and greens in good condition, course layout emphasizes course management in your game.
Will recommend to others and return when possible.
Great Condition
Had not played this course in over 4 years. Got a good Hot Deal rate so I decided to give it a try. Course is in GREAT SHAPE! Greens are AWESOME!
Only caution is that the course actually does not use tee times. It is first come first served so when booking a specific tee time on golf now it is a little misleading. With that being said, they have a starter who pairs everyone up waiting and makes sure that foursomes go off in each group. It is actually more organized than courses with tee times!! Pace of play is excellent. Will definitely go back. Mike and his staff run a great facility!!!
