Extremely fair price for a well kept course. Sand traps skimpy on sand, but then stay out of them.
My husband and I like To play alone. When we get the course at the tee time reserved there were another 2 players joying us. This fact didn’t allow us to play comfortable and the game took more time to finish. The staff are very kind.
Great course for the money
My son and I go there while we are here in Florida and we enjoy ourselves. The course is in good shape and it is not expensive to play.
Good course. The staff is great! Very friendly! I would recommend this course to my friends
Very nice course
Nice course. Greens very nice. Fairways good. Sand traps need sand . They were like hitting off dirt. It was first time playing. The course doesn’t offer yardage guide books. Also there is no picture of the hole on the scorecard or the hole sign. It only shows yardage. Knowing what’s in front of you could have helped. Staff was very nice.
Good course, ghastly clubhouse
I liked this course very much. Good layout, not too tight. Tees and fairways were in good condition and the greens were excellent. Trap sand good, too.
In contrast, the clubhouse was a monstrous block of concrete with a bizarre zig-zag concrete ramp bordered by concrete walls leading up to the pro shop in back. To get to the front of the building from the parking lot you had to go up a set of steep concrete steps. Not sure what was in the front, though, as EVERYTHING WAS SHUT-DOWN/LOCKED UP WHEN I TRIED TO ENTER AFTER COMPLETING MY ROUND AT 5:00 P.M. (I guess if you had to go, you could pee on the building.)
But they still had a cart guy ready to take control of your cart and drive you to your car in the parking lot, swipe a wet rag at your clubs… and expect a tip.)
Nevertheless, the course is worthwhile, especially at the $19 I paid.
Bunkers are very well placed
If you miss a fairway there’s a good chance you’re in a bunker. The greens were excellent!
Fairways need conditioning. Traps also. Greens good.
Very nice course that keeps you interested throughout the round.
Bunkers had not been worked on since downpours 2 days ago, so you basically had to rake before hitting your shot.
Greens were nice but a bit on the slow side.
Round took us (a twosome) 3 and a half hours to play, thanks to a foursome that let us through.
I like this course, and will be back soon.
Nées morte informations
No informations at all on every hole. For this kind of golf course, We expect at least some drawings on the score card. The bathroom on the field as not very clean.
Terrific Day @ an A+ Course
Since I do a lot of complaining about rude golfers and unprofessional staff members it was an absolute pleasure to have an experience like I just had at Martin Downs. Check in with a smile and starter put me out with a friendly twosome as soon as he hears I was a single. AND a 1/2 hr. early! Course was busy for a weekday mid day as most times at this time of year. The difference was the great group of golfers ahead, behind and with me. Everyone was on the same page as they went to their ball while waiting for their shot (this means one person dropping the other at his ball and taking his cart to his ball) Measurements were taken while waiting for your shot and when the coast cleared out the shots were immediately taken. Pace of play was great as the only time spent looking for a lost ball was while waiting for your shot.
As for the course all aspects were great even if the fairways were a little thin in spots. No hard ground to hit off of and greens were receptive to accurate shots. On this day the wind was very strong (over 20 mph) so scoring was a challenge. 2 triples and 2 doubles didn't help my scorecard but, believe me, I never had a better time having a bad round.
Highly recommend the Downs to all golfers who are worn down by employees who don't want to be at their job and golfers who don't give a "hoot" about anyone but themselves on the course. Can't wait to return as soon as I get some time.
