Getting better
Course is slowly improving, it is obvious the new management is working hard to bring this course back to what it once was. Workers all over course working on green and bunkers. My guess is by next year it will be greatly improved. Friendly and helpful staff, keep things moving, have played here a lot and always play 18 holes in just over 4 hours.
The greens were full of sand and not aerated.
No driving range.
Fairways were hard as a rock in need of water
It’s gone downhill
Having played this course dozens of times, but no rounds since Covid began, I was very disappointed in the condition of the course. The greens used to be perfect and the fairways were immaculate. Four years later, it’s not in very good shape. The Fairways show a lot of weeds and all of the greens have rough spots. The greens roll well but they are nowhere as good as they were a few years back. This used to be one of my favourite courses in Florida. A big disappointment now.
Condition of the course
Really like the layout. Just wish they would give more attention to the condition of the fairways
A little rough!
Martin Downs is a good value for the money. The course layout is superb! The greens roll fast and true. It is not well maintained though. If it was, they could charge top dollar.
Needs work
Have always like the layout but the course is in rough shape - lot of bare spots in fairways and on the greens
Should have followed my first instinct
A friend wanted to play and I told him 2 years ago it was awful. He heard good things and even reviews weren’t bad.
So I said OK and we played. I wanted to leave after nine holes. The tee boxes are dirt and clover, the fairways are dirt and weeds. The greens are dirt and weeds. Ironically, there was a sign that the course will be closed for two days in April for airification. Really, it should be closed for six months for seeding the tees and fairways. At the same time they could sprig the greens.
Not sure who owns the place but they clearly don’t have a clue what they are doing. Not sure how anyone could work there, it’s just embarrassing..
