Dissapointing
The coarse has so much potential. Just not taken care of.
Tee boxes are weedy.greens are being over run by weeds.you can’t putt without it jumping and bumping all over.
Pace of play horrible. Had a twosome,a single and a single in front of us. They would not join up and move along.waited on every tee box. No ranger .
The employees here were very nice. Lunch in the lounge was very good.
I booked the tee time a week before. After I booked they added walking only. I showed the pro shop my receipt and he said it was not good. He could not show me any information. He said it would be $23 more for a cart.
greens have weeds that keep the ball from rolling true. If you are a good putter, you will find frustration. .
Good layout, but questionable business practices
Played Pine Lakes for the first time with a great rate on GN.
I was a single, and booked a”walking rate”. Upon booking, it is mentioned in the confirmation that a cart can be purchased for a fee when checking in. I was fine walking but decided I’d ride if the others booked at the tee time wanted to ride.
When the other 3 showed up, the golf shop attendant told them(rather rudely) that they had booked a walking rate and a cart fee of 23 bucks per person would be charged if they wanted to ride. Now I don’t mind paying for golf, and I play most of the courses in the area year round, but I’m not paying 43 bucks at 1:00 to play Pine Lakes on a Hot Deal, when the REGULAR Rate with cart at the SAME time is cheaper! Why they do this, I have no idea, but two employees argued that this is normal practice. Beware.
As far as the course is concerned, it’s about average for a public course. Bunkers need sand, and the greens are okay with patchy weeds occasionally . Not the worst, but could be better. No drinking water on the course, and the only restrooms I saw were on hole 9. It’s walkable, and the pace of play was pretty good for a weekend. Pretty wide open and a few holes play pretty long from the whites.
I’ll probably stick to many of the better options in the area.
greens are over run with weeds
Nice course, with good layout, but at this time; greens are disappointing as there are green weeds growing on many greens and getting a true roll is impossible. Very frustrating to say the least. I assume the course will do something about this, but until they do, putting will be challenging on these weed infested greens.
Couse host not very accommdating the other day. Everyone has a bad day, however.
grens still bumpy
don't know what it is, but it is a detriment to smooth rolling greens on a course that is otherwise fun to play. Little tuffs of weeds in greens prevent a true roll. Hope it is conquered soon.
Great layout / Course conditions improvong
Danny in the Pro Shop is very friendly and helpful. The course has great potential, and with the return of the previous superintendent and some decent weather, conditions, like poa sprouts in greens, are likely to improve.
We started as a foursome and then split into 2 twosomes and finished in 3 hrs and 40 minutes.
Vast Improvement over the Past Year or so.
Conditions have improved greatly. Fairways are in very good condition. Greens are much, much better. Price is right. Staff is terrific!
No features. boring course. Every hole is the same.
No character. Greens were horrible.. people we played with were just as unhappy
Very challenging. Plenty of bunkers
Seemed to play long from gold tees for me.Some of the holes.
Gave the course good reviews in the fall but now ?
We started playing this course again in the fall after hearing that is was returning from several years of terrible conditions. We gave it several reviews on this site and the word spread from golfers to golfers and now it has become busy. We played the course this past week and many of the greens are starting to become overrun with poa annua. I hope it will be addressed before the course starts getting bad reviews again.
First time playing this course, a positive experience.
Very pleased with playing conditions given the mixed reviews on this course. Extremely friendly staff and the course was in decent shape. Will definitely play here again.
Soggy Mess
We played this course many times in the past, but had quit playing there due to couse condition being poor. We heard that things were better this year so decided to give it another try. We were very disappointed. The course was so wet it was difficult to walk out to your ball, which often was in a pool of water in the middle of the fairway. The mud was black and slippery. Our round took almost 5 hours due to the care we had to take while walking. We played CPO at a nearby course the day before in less than 4 hours. In addition the greens were full of crabgrass which often threw our putts off. There was no evidence of spraying or anything to correct this. I really hope they can work on the drainage problems and the greens before everyone quits coming again.
Course very wet.
Course very wet and greens had a fair amount of crab grass.
