Tarpon Woods Golf Club
About
Named after the creek that borders it, Tarpon Woods Golf Club is home to an abundance of wildlife including deer, alligators, turkeys, coyotes, and otters. The layout is not the Tampa Bay area's most challenging but it is one of the most scenic. Formerly Brooker Creek Golf Club, the club changed management and made several improvements to the bunkers, tee boxes, and greens in 2009. It has been a local favorite for more than 30 years. Overall the golf course is not particularly long but the front nine plays longer than the back. Each nine offers a unique set of challenges. The third hole is the longest and toughest with water that runs down the left side. There is also water on both sides of the approach to the green.

Past its prime
We found that the course was not in the shape that it could be.
Greens were fuzzy and slow and maintenance was lacking.
Tarpon Woods
Slow round, lot of waiting. It would have gotten much higher scores if not for the pace of play
needs attention
Played as a foursome and constantly had twosomes we let play through. Greens were shaggy and slow. I have played 10+ courses in the Tampa-Clearwater area and this is the worst one I have tried.
this course needs work
The greens were slow due to overgrowth on them.
The fairways are hard and unyielding but it's a pretty course otherwise.
good course for the price
play moved along even though the course was busy, was a nice day to play.
Terrain tres laid
Les green trop long les tertre de départ laid les allée manque de gazon et mal draine
Not Worth your time or money
I've given this course many chances to redeem itself and it never does. Through different owners and name changes it continues to stay in a transitional period, never improving.
The layout is great but that's where the compliments stop. Tees are uneven, and full of dirt patches, and where there is grass, its too long. You will see deer on just about every time you play here if that's of any comfort.
Fairways and thin and that's being modest. Dirt lies are the norm here, and being in the rough gives you a much better lie than finding the fairway. It was hard to tell where the fairways ended and the rough began.
Large greens, but they putted horribly. Extremely slow and very bumpy, each putt seemed to roll around the cup as the edges around the holes were raised on most cups.
No Rangers or staff out on the course to keep it going. The group in front of us hit 3 balls each off the first tee and hit 2 each on most holes, making the pace very slow.
My friends and I wont be back here, after many chances over a span of more than 5 years, with numerous owners and name changes, this place just cant get it figured out. Save your time and money, its just not worth wasting either here.
Never will play this course again! !!
Course is like a pasture. Muddy, and it started pouring. The pro shop wouldn't give a rain check and laughed said" golf now, not such a hot deal now"
Great improvement
Dramatic improvement from the last time I played here. You can definitely tell the maintenance staff has been working very hard!. Great value for the money!! Will be back soon!
Shape of course
Very friendly and accommodating staff. The course was very scenic with lovely homes through out. The course itself was in terrible shape. The fairways in particular were in horrible shape and it was hard to find any grass to hit off of. It looks like they have new greens and are letting them grow in which is fine. Over all I would not recommend this course at this time.
can you say moooh!
The layout is fun from the back tees, no goofy holes, a good course to relax and practice bad or tight sandy lies from middle of the fairway. The option for dining is here but no bev-cart so stock up before the turn. The overall health of the course is a bummer, keep your expectation low and look a for discount rate. The fairways are patchy and weed like, tee boxes rutty/uneven, greens furry and overseeded maybe with a ?rye?, bunkers are ok (filled with a river like sand).
Wildlife was awesome on this course
This was my first time playing this course and I will definitely go back. The overall condition of this course was good. A little work is needed on a few tee boxes but nothing glaring.
Go out and have fun. When you make the turn enjoy some wings at Beef O Brady's.
Nice course and amenities
The course was nice, but the fairways were a little rough. That said, I know they are working on them diligently and look forward to the improvements they're making. Overall it was very good and the fact that they have a beef Obrady's on premise is really nice if you're incorporating lunch into your play or planning to have dinner after.
all around nice place
So for my first time playing here I was very pleased..with everythineverything from the staff to the course..the greens were very nice..the pace was fast..played 18 holes in no more than 3 hours..theres a lot of par 4's which was nice for my new hybrid...and got to work on the driver...and the rates were great $22@ 9am is amazing..I will be going back and recomend anyone who wants a good day of golf to try it out
Well worth the money
The course has improved tremendously over the past couple of years. Greens were in very good shape and the fairways held up pretty well from the recent weeks of constant rain. The staff is second to none and you can't beat the 19th hole being Beef O Bradys. I will definitely be out there again soon.
Great course forvthe money spent.
Did not get to finish. Only pkayed 9 holes due yo ran and the course was wet. It is an Ok course forvthe money we spent. Coukd use a few improvements.
Great Shape
Easy course if you stay in the center, if not....You will have to muster up all the clever you have.
Check it out and have fun
Tarpon Woods, Labor Day Weekend
We had never played there, but absolutely enjoyed. The last 4 holes were slow as a foursome up front was slow... BUT, otherwise, EXCELLENT. We will definitely play there again, SOON.
Not bas for 20 bucks
The greens were in much better shape than last time. The rough was overly long and hadn't been trimmed in a while.
It was a hot day with a "feel like" temp of 101 degrees and there is only ONE, I repeat ONE drinking fountain on the entire course, and it's a warm water fountain. Shameful.
getting better
course is in better condition than in the past, but tee boxes need improvement, there should be water avail. on the course, with no ranger the pace of play can be slow when busier, good value for the price
