Total chaos at Pelican Point Venice, Fla.
This is a 27 hole course staffed & able to handle only an 18 hole crowd. Parking lot is way too small, not enough places to park. Not enough carts, had to wait till right at T time to find one available. Staff is not friendly. No one comes out to parking lot to get your clubs from the trunk. Range is too small again for 27 hole crowd. Too long a wait to find a spot to hit. Pro shop is understaffed w/ only 1 person behind the counter who also has to answer the phone. Long wait there to check in & pay. Wasted 50 minutes before finally getting to play, 20 minutes driving around in too small parking area, 10 minutes in pro shop to pay, then 20 minutes at the range waiting for a slot to open up. When we finally got a cart we were 10 minutes behind in getting to our 1st T. We saw numerous guys show up at the starters shack only to find out their group was sent out & they missed their T time. They too were probably driving around looking for a place to park, then waiting in line in the pro shop , then waiting on a cart to get down to the starter. This place needs to knock out curbing in parking lot & create more spaces or build an overflow lot. They need more carts to handle a 27 hole crowd. They need to teach the staff to smile & be friendly to the paying players. They need to enlarge the range....a lot ....for 27 hole crowd. NOT coming back here till major changes are made. The 1st 6-7 holes of our day were ruined by the frustration & angst to start the day. Don't need to put up with this as there are too many other courses in the area who have the right space, equipment w/ enough of a staff that are friendly, helpful & welcoming to you when you arrive in the parking lot & pro shop. The course is decent, once you finally get out to see it ! I hope the new owner (s) read these reviews & pay attention to the comments. Otherwise this place will suffer. Maybe they don't care...they got our money !!!
