One of the biggest greens in Bay Area. I paced it off at 75 yards long!! Photo submitted by aliikane10 on 07/14/2017
Who runs this place ?
Too much to say, but let’s start with:
-the course does not drain well. It rained 4 days before our round and it was a disaster.
- cart path only - fine, but NO PUSH CARTS? What kind of idiocy is this?
- we had a single added to our group. He was on the tee 20min early and - since it was so wet - there were no groups 3 ahead of us or 3 behind, but they wouldn’t let the poor guy go early! “We have to keep the groups together” said the starter. So I get to the box 8 min ahead of tee time to hit some putts, and the starter hurries ME because the other guy had been waiting. What the????
You guys have some issues at the box and with your rules. As the only group out in an hour span, one would think you’d be a little more kind. Not today.
2 par 4s changed to par 3s
Bad experience overall. Fairway felt like rough. Rough felt like deep rough. Uneven Tee Boxes for over 12 holes. 2 par 4s closed and forced to play as par 3s with the deep rough as the tee boxes.
Great course but tough!
The playing experience was fantastic. I'm surprised the condition of the course was still so good despite two consecutive days of heavy rain. It was definitely soft and the rough was very "grabby" and tough to cut out of, but this wasn't entirely a bad thing. If you don't keep the ball left on most holes, you'll end up with a lost ball down the little ravine - slicers beware! The softness prevented about 5 of my great drives from being a disaster with too much roll into the ravine.
Great variation in the challenges to tackle on each hole, truly interesting layout (really no "bad" holes,) fantastic elevation changes and a handful of real "target golf" holes; this course really is a delight and a challenge for even an experienced, low-handicap golfer (and almost certainly insanely difficult under dry summer conditions.)
The only hiccup in my experience was the service or, perhaps more accurately, the atmosphere of the experience. I realize it's in San Ramon, but - although the staff was perfectly polite - I feel like some of the rules were more at home at a private country club than a public course (one example was "no cart until 20 minutes before the round," despite having a plethora of carts available making it a pain to be follow my typical warm-up routine.) It just didn't really come off as a welcoming experience - especially when I said this was my first time here and really got no guidance on where the various practice areas were, where the first tee was, nada. I play a LOT of golf and - if I come back here again - it will be for the course and in spite of my experience.

Super tough course but solid conditions in rain
Brutal test of golf, possibly a bit easier in wet conditions though… drained well during the day. Still best to bring extra balls, it’s just so difficult to not lose them!
Decent conditions for rainy round
round started with sun and only a few areas with saturated ground, the course seemed to drain pretty well considering recent rain. We got dumped on for a few stretches but overall the greens rolled true and we didn't notice a drastic change in speed. Still one of the most difficult tests of golf in the bay area, bring lots of balls, you will lose all of them unless you're hitting em dead straight. I suppose with wet conditions it could help and play a bit easier since the ball stops more quickly. Fairways in good condition, some tee boxes were a bit wonky with uneven ground but overall totally fine.
Overall great experience
Money well spent through Hot Deals. Friendly staff, especially the starter/marshall who checked in to make sure everything was ok. The course was in great condition, very challenging greens but fun. Thank you!
Delay, Delay and Closed
They delayed tee offs for 1hr and 45 minutes because of "ice". No notifications? You have all our emails.
People do drive distances to reach the course. Was told of their restaurant and Driving range while you waited, but, strange at it sounds, their restaurant was not open and you cannot take a cart to Driving range, they suggested Driving your car there.
So we asked around and they opened their bar/grill [restaurant]. Finally went off and a 5 hour round later, yes 5hrs, we completed. I think it will be along time before I return...look give your money to Wente or Poppy Hills, etc...
Much better experience and pace
This was our retry of this course after a less than favorable experience. Dan the course pro reached out after my last review and encouraged us to try again.
The starter was interactive and got us out a few minutes early since we were ready and no one was booked ahead of us. Pace was 4.5hrs this time and we saw multiple Marshalls on the course keeping things moving even though the 3-some ahead of us was over a hole behind by hole 9.
Course conditions were ideal, and no one was watering during our round as seen on so many other courses.
On-course amenities were great - water stations were full (not the case at most courses), and the cart staff (Gabbby?) was energetic and frequent so we could stay refreshed.
Great Course - Apathetic staff
I love the course, it's challenging, well maintained and it's close to my house. I'd play here regularly but the customer experience is poor and I only play here when nothing else is available. From the minute you drive up - it's a ghost town. Head into the pro shop - I'm the only customer but the starter and the pro shop guy where in a conversation and couldn't get me out fast enough. No how are you, have you played here before a little info on how the course was playing - very transactional. Get out on the course - no ball washers?! It was wet and a bit muddy. I left my towel at home and when I tried to find one at the course I couldn't find anyone to even ask. Ghost town.. After the round I went back in to the pro shop to ask about what happened to the ball washers and the pins on the putting green and the guy was like - you should bring your own towel - there's a bucket of water on the first tee.. We never replaced them after COVID.. Lots of cart path only which didn't make a lot of sense but what do I know. All in all for the price point of $80 a round I'd expect a better experience. However, this has been their problem for years even before COVID. Again, love the course and would play a lot more if it was a better overall experience. Btw - never saw a cart girl so I was hungry and thirsty! 😝

Disappointing
It started off poorly from the start. 2 out of our foursome was checking in and the person in the pro shop was insistent on only releasing 1 cart even though the round was prepaid and we wanted both carts so we could go out to the parking lot and pick up the other two players. Explained the situation and that we had already paid for the round online but he didn't care. I'm dubious when I see the group ahead of us all playing from the tips but the starter assured us that the group in front of us are good and fast players. Nothing could be further from the truth. On every hole we had to wait at the tee box and fairways. No marshal had come out to check on us until well into the back 9. The cart girl was great though, she came by 4 times. Food after the round was mediocre and the service was extremely slow. I like the course itself but everything else other than the beverage cart service needs a lot of work.

Meh for $119
The starter hurries us to tee of promptly (maybe two min early) to “keep up” to one his regular “fast” foursomes ahead of us….well, we push those slow pokes for 16 holes until a Marshall comes by and asks why we are FORTY-FIVE minutes behind pace. I ask him to look ahead and see that there’s nowhere to go but his “regular” 4-some has 1.5 holes open ahead of them. They hurry for one hole then lag again, and we finish on their tail in FIVE HOURS 20 MINUTES. UGH.
The fairway was nice, but the greens were dry and choppy. Cart service by Gabby was great, but post-round food at the restaurant was deeply lacking.

A good challenge
The course was in good shape except for the "punched" greens which is accepted given the discount price.
The last four holes are a real challenge. Anyone who enjoys a challenge should find those holes really interesting.
Hi, garyrichardson47. We appreciate you taking the time to review the course and rate us. Thank you for the 4 stars! We aim for a 5-star experience, so we always welcome feedback for improvement. Thank you for playing The Bridges Golf Club.
Bridges still a awesome course
Since bridges rises up his price, I rarely play, the condition is still good, fairway and green are nice maintained.
Thank you so much for the great review. We are glad you had an incredible time, and we hope to see you again soon! Thanks for choosing The Bridges Golf Club.
Overpriced because it’s San Ramon
Pace of play is terrible, takes 5.5-6 hours to play 18. Staff is ambivalent and busy with other stuff.. service level is VERY low. Holes are well lazed out, but first four holes are on clubhouse side of Bollinger, then next 11 holes are on other side of road, and last 3 holes back on clubhouse side. Impossible to get food / beverage after leaving clubhouse, unless you catch beverage cart college girl on Sat/Sun morning about 9-1pm. Expensive property and huge underused clubhouse. Too much overhead and not much service. Members have all the early tee times and jam the course with their slow play. Could be a great course, but business model is terrible and managed worse.
We apologize for the poor pace of play you experienced at our golf course and for any inconvenience it caused. We appreciate your feedback and will take it into consideration to improve our service. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.
Unique (and tough) layout
Great layout with a variety of holes and no two holes come in contact with each other. Course is set on a hillside with plenty of elevation changes throughout. Conditions were very nice with the fairways being excellent. Greens and modest slope to them, making them a perfect blend between being challenging but predictable Greens were receptive to approach shots and pitches. They were a bit spongy in the late afternoon
A number of the Tee boxes were uneven. Not too bad but noticeable. Bunkers had good quality sand in them. Pace of play was slow (5 hours) which seems to be the norm in this area
I’ll definitely play this course again

Difficulty
(Hi. I love to play your course, but my handicap (post polio) has made it very difficult to play. Evenwith a “blue flag” the cart would not allow to get within 50 yards of green. Cart path to green was too steep. Jj
