Royal/Sabal at Grand Palms Golf & Country Club
About
Famous for having some of the best greens in south Florida, Pembroke Pines' Grand Palms Golf & Country Club offers three nine-hole courses: Royal, Sabal and Grand. The three golf courses are played in three separate combos, with the Royal/Sabal coming in at a robust 6,847 yards from the gold tees. The golf course traverses across a landscape of tropical foliage and thick palms, providing both a challenge and a reminder of what south Florida golf has to offer. The Royal/Sabal shines with player-friendly fairways and generous greens.

Grand Palms
Got a good rate on golf now. But the greens were so bad that your ball bounced across them.
Greens need renovation
Good course but only a few greens are still playable. The rest are in pretty dire need of regrassing/renovation. The grass on most of them is sparse, but long and stringy, and just rolled flat. We had some greens that were nappy where the grass had come up from being rolled. Really inconsistent, but they've done an OK job of working with what they got. It's worth playing for target practice but don't expect to roll putts until they get it fixed.
Tees and greens need repair
The greens were nearly unplayable on certain holes due to large bare patches and weeds. The tee boxes also were bare and in very poor condition.
Grand Palms
Everything was great except most of the actual greens on Grand and Royal courses are almost in such bad condition it will add an additional stroke if your putting further than about 5 feet.
Horrible condition
How dare you charge me $70 to play this Sunday. This course should be discounted!!!! Overall the course is not in good shape. The greens are absolutely horrible!!!!!! Take a little pride for God sake!!! Anything over $20 is way too much to pay for this place. What a shame this course has become.
Terrible condition
The greens are in terrible conditions. It’s like putting in the rough. Do not recommend this course anymore.
Worse golf course ever played
I used to play here often during COVID, and I really enjoyed it. However, on Friday, April 1st, 2024, I brought a colleague from Spain, driving from South Miami based on the fond memories I had. Unfortunately, I was deeply disappointed. This has become, by far, the worst golf course I've ever played on. I'm accustomed to playing on average courses like Killian Greens, Palmetto, Briar Bay, and Redlands, but even those seem like PGA courses compared to Grand Palms. After finishing the first 9 holes, I inquired with the starter about which of the last 9 holes to play, considering the initial ones were in poor shape. I was told those first 9 were actually the best of the three courses they have.
Upon completing the game, we voiced our concerns about the conditions and were offered coins for the range as compensation. Once home, I compared pictures from my visits in 2021 and 2022, and the decline in quality was stark. I reached out to the manager hoping for at least a partial refund, but was refused. I even suggested updating their website to reflect the current conditions to prevent misleading other golfers, but my suggestion was ignored
Get what you pay for
This course is old and tired. Greens in very poor condition. Fairway grass is sparse as well. If you want a cheap round and want to play quickly, this is the course for you if conditions of the course don’t matter.
Treat yourself better
This course is absolutely horrendous. If you think the tee boxes are bad, wait till you see the fairways. If you think the fairways are bad, wait till you see the greens. Actually, calling them greens is a huge stretch. Do yourself a favor, spend a little more and play ANYWHERE ELSE.
Disappointing conditions
I've played Grand Palms several times in the past and was looking forward to this round. Unfortunately, the condition of the course, especially the greens, was poor and the fairways were not a lot better. We played both the Royal and the Sabal courses and the Royal was far worse than the Sabal. I feel they should close the Royal course until the greenskeepers can bring the course to an acceptable level
Greens were in real bad shape. Change over after 9
Holes needs to be protected. We had to play same 9 twice (they have 3 nines).
