Amazing Condition!

Pro Josh Meador and staff have this course looking and playing like a high dollar resort course. Tee boxes, fairways and greens are almost perfect. Staff is super friendly and facilities are nice as well. If you are in the Pensacola area you need to make it a priority to play AC Read.

Beautiful Layout

This is a must play course in Florida's Pan Handle area. I played in a Florida State Golf Association tournament and fell in love with the course. From tee box to green the course is in excellent condition. You can tell from talking with all members of the staff that they are proud of their golf course and it shows in the condition of the course.

Great Military Course - Super Good Conditions

Played Bayou to Lake View today and was pleasantly pleased at the course conditions. The fairways are lush and every bunker has been rebuilt, perfect sand. Te greens are hard and fast, some hot spots, but really nice. The hazards were well marked. All three nines past the snack bar and the hot dogs are really good and sell out fast.

The Golf Shop is the tops! Super staff and well stocked.

The have a restaurant and it's always been a hit with especially the breakfast.

best course in Pensacola area

I've played here about a dozen times and believe this is the best course in the Pensacola area. Not many civilians play here because it's not widely known that it is open to civilians (just need to show a driver's license at the gate). The staff and other players are very welcoming to civilians. It's easy to show up as a single and get paired up.

The three nine-hole courses are about equal in difficulty. There are a lot of short par-4s, so long hitters will want to play from the back tees. Each of the nines has one or two quirky holes that dogleg at 200-250 yards, to it helps if you can fade and draw the ball. Some also have large trees at the corners, so fairways woods and hybrids are required off the tee.

This course has survived the spring floods and summer heat better than most courses in the area. It is always in good condition.

very playable, beautiful to look at

This if probably the best course in the Pensacola area. Not many civilians play there because it's not widely known that it's open to the public.

A beautiful course to look at and easy to walk. The three nine-hole courses are about equal in difficulty. I've played it about a dozen times and found it in very good condition. Easy to to show up as a single and get paired up. The staff is very welcoming to civilians.

Each of the nines has one or two quirky holes that dogleg 200-225 yards off the tee, so you have to hit less than driver. And several doglegs have large trees at the corners, so it helps to be on the correct side of the fairway.

This course survived the spring floods and summer heat much better than other courses in the area. The fairways appear to drain well after heavy rains, and the putting surfaces are smooth.

Update on public access -- a few months ago, because of bomb threats and other security concerns, the Navy changed is policy about public access. Instead of just showing a drivers license at the main gate, you now have to stop at the visitors center and get a one-day pass (showing drivers license, vehicle registration, and proof of insurance). A bit of a hassle, but still worth it to play a great course.
