Greens......
I have been playing Pompano municipal for at least 15 years the greens are by far the worst shape I’ve ever seen several spots that look like a fungal growth punch spots that aren’t benefiting the breathability of the GREEN itself sand everywhere untamed tee boxes on the Palm course it’s a shame that Course needs more TLC
Long Holes
Played from White tee box, par 4 's had some distance on them.
Like most courses this time of year, work is being done on fairways and greens
Can tell maintenance is going on, fairways were like light rough, need to be mowed shorter. Greens ok, again can tell the work is being put in to get ready and be in good shape for season. Will be nice once greens fill in, and fairways get cut. shorter.
I will go back in early fall to get better evaluation, but looks like it will be nice once all summer prep maintenance completed.
Good Municipal Golf Course
The course is in overall good shape. Greens were are very good with exception of the 18 green which needed a little work (still par'd the hole). I have golfed on this course over the years and have seen it in rough shape and in excellent shape. This round found the course leaning towards the excellent shape side. Staff/Starters are really good folks and very personable for sure. Only down side were some of the traps needed good Florida sand. I will go again next week.
The Palms course needs some work
The good: The staff was great, the restaurant/bar was great, pace of play was excellent. Carts have GPS which is a plus. Bunkers were very good and placed well. Problems: tee boxes were not mown, fairways OK for the most part but shaggy in spots. The greens were patchy, and speeds were inconsistent (mostly quite slow-not rolling in a smooth one here). With a bit of work can be a decent place to play.
What a poor course
Fairway is dirt and weeds. one green out of 10 was in good shape all others patchy weedy and bumpy
Was requested to let two latecomers join they were wonderful people but caused us to fall behind and get repeatedly castigated by the marshal if they would have left well enough alone pace would not have been an issue
I was so disappointed by conditions I will not play again there
I can even over look the treatment from staff but why pay to play in a Nebraska pasture when I live in Florida
poorly maintained facilities
nice layout, poorly maintained! A shame!
Facilities: Galuppi’s nice to chill out after golf ; Pro-shop is poorly stocked
Good day!
We have played this coarse once before and enjoyed it again. Great value for the $ through golfnow.
Not sure I would’ve paid book at club price ? Will go back.
Greens are in very poor condition
All greens were burned. We have been advised by the Marshall that all greens will be redone on April 22. In the mean time it’s a shame not to advise the players of the poor condition of the greens and charging a green fee much too expensive.
Course in poor condition
It is a shame of charging that price in a course with poor condition. All greens were burns. Very disappointing.
Nothing like what i knew of this course.
Greens are in very bad conditions
Fairway are good if i compare to greens
But i not expect to going before the next year.
I don’t recommand it at this price at this time.
Enjoyed the round of golf
Greens in good condition, well maintained. Spots on the fairways were a bit rough but areas like this were limited. I see similar conditions on courses in south Florida. Facility is great, restaurant, pro shop, etc. Few sand traps needed some work. Fortunately, I was not in many of them. Overall, I recommend this course and feel price through golfing is a good value.
Worth the $20 premiere card rate, not much more.
The Pines course at Pompano is clearly the better of the two tracks. The layout is fun, with a good variety of shots to be played. The tee boxes have been recently renovated and are in amazing shape. The fairways are patchy, as usual. The greens have always been a bit sandy and in rough shape, but they are the absolute worst I’ve ever seen them. 30%+ of the greens surfaces are covered in sand/dirt with no live grass. Rumors say the greens are being renovated in May, so we’ll see.
Definitely worth a play for a cheap online deal or the $20 Premeire Card rate during the summer. But there are DOZENS of better local courses for their standard advertised rates. The carts are in good shape, with decent GPS to the center of the green. The restaurant and outdoor bar are definitely a plus for a bite and a drink after your round.
Jimmymac
I have played here for 5 plus years in winter the course has been going down hill and now is at bottom, I understand they are going to fix all greens and maybe ??? help the fairways ( City of Pompano doesn’t change the cost to play just because the course stinks) to bad. I as a pompano tax payer think they should have dropped the price! A city drop prices come on . Until the fall don’t play here 2019
Course Condition
Most of the putting greens are just green sand .. if you’re okay with that .. then I recommend the course.
