Reviews
Nice course
A little off the beaten path, but worth the drive. Enjoyed the challenge of this course. Definitely need some local knowledge to manage this course. Greens were in great shape. Tee boxes need some help. Golf carts are electric with a lot of pep.
Hidden Gem
Very challenging course and almost like a mountain course. Lots of elevation changes. Course was in good shape and greens were excellent.
awesome
Awesome course from #1hole to #18 one of the best courses i have ever played.Staff is so friendly
Ranger was awesome.
Beautiful course
This course can meet the challenges of any level golfer. The vistas were beautiful and the greens in very good shape. Some of the tee boxes needed some work but other than that a wonderful cared for course.
The staff was very friendly and the pace of play was great. We did not feel like we were pressured and were able to enjoy the challenges and beauty of the course.
Definitely will be back.
Aeration alert
Course in good shape, aerating the greens as we played. A few tee boxes are thin. Other than that, course in good shape Sparse crowds on a Tuesday afternoon. Always friendly service in the pro shop.
Bring Your "A" Game
The lion was in good shape except the tees boxes several need a lot of work . There were a number with bare/sandy spots and weed problems on a few others. Would recommend this course for any one to play, very challenging
pleasant suprise
Lived 30 miles away and never tried this jewel. Have
been missing out on some great golfing.
bang for your buck
Truly a hidden gem. It's a good drive from where I live but well worth it. Course layout was great as well as the condition of the course. I will definitely be back to play again.
This place is awesome
Found this place by accident. Drove from Atlanta on a Friday. Came back the next day to play it again. What a beautiful course. Awesome par 3's and par 5's with amazing views. Every hole was very fair yet quite a challenge. And no two holes looked the same which is often the case. Greens and fairways were plenty fast and in great condition. I could not have been treated better if I were a member. I live in central Florida an can't wait to come back.
Worth the trip
Drove 60+ miles for this challenging golf experience , it's well worth it,. My only issue is that the Resturant dosent open until 4:30, it was extressly hot and they didn't have water on the front 9, for the first 7 holes, but the golfing is amazing
Get out of bed and go to work
We had a tee time at 8:00am. The course is suppose to open at 7:30. This would give us 30 min to hit some range balls and warm up. The young guy running the pro shop didn't get to the course til 7:55 to open the gate and the pro shop. He said he over slept. What! He told us we could start whenever we wanted to since he was late. We went to the driving range to hit some ball, but was then ask to wait for 30 minutes because they were cutting the grass on it. Our tee time at 8:30 turned into now 9:30! Get out of bed and go to work!
thumbs up all around!
The Lion Club is more than worth a try if you haven't already! The course is in great shape with ultra fantastic greens that are truer than any course I've played this year.
Great gem to play
Course and greens were in great shape. Very difficult if you don't have any knowledge of the course. I'll definitely play this course again.
Love the layout of the courae
Beautiful rolling hills , blind drives up hill, challenging greens. Can't wait to play again.
Championship Pin Placement
Not sure what the course was going for, but they wanted to make pin placements as difficult as possible. Nothing against the course, but it was too hard unless you're a scratch golfer.
Picturesque
Did not expect this course to be this nice. Greens rolled very nice, and I only recall one fairway in less than great shape. Very hilly and very long from the tips.
Great New Option West of Town
Greens & fairways were in great shape overall - a few rough spots on the edges. Great layout! Some local knowledge would help a lot on a couple of holes. Challenging, but fair course.
pleasently suprised
I had played The Lion a couple of times before, and always felt it had potential. This time the greens were spectacular. Tee boxes and bunkers were not very good at all, and the fairways were pretty thin, but it looked like the course was on the way up. The pro shop was neat and clean and the people were friendly. We played on a Tuesday afternoon and the restaurant was oddly closed, otherwise we probably would have had lunch there.
Beautiful Layout
Greens were in good shape and very true. Fairways were a little sparse and the bunkers not well maintained. Fun course for the money. eautiful views, very scenic. Fun Fair Track
The Lion Roars
First time I played this course; found the fairways to be pretty open, hilly and long; the greens are fast. The only negatives I have are the lack of real sand in the bunkers and no refreshment cart. The course has some very interesting holes and I believe a A, B or C golfer would find it fairly challenging- definitely very challenging for a D player It is a beautiful course with some great overlooks. The facilities are nice both at the club house and the halfway point necessary facilities. Now that I know the lay of the land I look forward to playing this course again. Good value for 4.5 hours of play & that was with a 15 min break between front and back 9.
