Terrible Pace of Play
Have played 7 rounds and 5 have taken in excess of 5 hours. Staff is friendly, but does nothing to manage the pace of play. This is a nice scenic course and normally in very good condition. If you can handle hitting and waiting hole after hole, then this course is for you, if not, suggest to pass.
Achasta is buetiful
Achasta is designed wonderfully up in the north Georgia mountains. My group did a shotgun start here in december a really enjoyed the course. The mountains views where wonderful as well as the suberb practice facility. The course was in fabulous shape common designed courseS by jack Nicklaus. The course was great 11 was awesome and liked the 6th and 7th hole. The trees in the fall are buetifuel. There is not a hole lot of water on the course but water is put in the correct places. Overall this was a great experience at Achasta.
Good course, very slow pace
We played a shot gun start which took over 5 hours to complete. No Marshall on course to push group ahead of us, which had 3 holes open in front of them All we heard when arriving at pro shop after round is it was busy today Would definitely recommend asking golf pro about pace of play and if they have any marshals on course to monitor
Very wet. Hole 10 virtually unplayable. Beautiful track in the valley of the north ga. Mountains. Right on the chattahoochee River water runs throughout the course. Give it a few days to dry out. Kid in golf shop seemed preoccupied. Not pleasant. Everyone else was very hospitable. A definate must play for north ga.
Another reason to take a golf trip to North Georgia!
Achasta is a Nickalus designed golf club that might be the most premiere course in the Dawsonville/Dahlonega area. The course is fairly open in some areas but there are many forced carries for approaches or tee balls that can become quite intimidating. The practice range and chipping area is ideal for sharpening up your game as its well-maintained and in great condition year round. They also oversees in the winter so its great to play on green grass in January and February. This is a must-play course for any golfer in the Atlanta area, the trip is definitely worth it!
Cart path only / very wet fairways
We played the day after what must have been an all day soaker the day before as the course fairways and some tees were sopping wet. There was no extra roll what so ever. It was cart path only on every hole. This made for long walk on most shots back to the cart, which is fine but distracted from the beauty of the course and the day. The conditions of the course other than all the standing water were excellent. The greens were rolling true and perfect. The bent grass really has responded well to the cooler weather of late. I will go back however the value is a little too lacking for me to play here every week. We enjoyed the course and will be back
This course never fails to please me! Great greens, great layout. Very walkable
Great layout along the Birch River - fairways, rough, bunkers, tee boxes were all in Excellent shape. Greens looked like they had been punched about 10 days ago and were still slightly bumpy (although they rolled better than they looked). Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Beer prices were excellent too (<$3/beer). Kitchen was closed so we did not eat there. Overall, Definitely worth the long drive from ATL to play this course. We will be back soon.
One of the Best
Achasta is simply one of the better golf courses in North Georgia. Great layout, first class facilities, and good pace of play. The greens were a little long and soft the day we played as they were going to be punched on Monday; that was the only issue as the rest of the course was primo. I played lousy but still enjoyed the course and highly recommend. Not cheap but a fair price for this level of course.
I would like to play the course again if the price was lowered
Mid week round..Played in under 4 hrs walking....conditions were great despite recent heavy rains. Very walkable course...only a few holes with a bit of distance from green to next tree. Loved the layout and playability...generous fairways
This is a wonderful golf course tucked away at the base of the mountains with a river meandering thru the course and coming into play on several holes. Course was immaculate and the greens were perfect and held shots very well. Views were spectacular as only a couple of houses on the course. Plus from the tips it's not too long. Would highly recommend it for all handicaps.
Very Nice Course
This was my 4th time playing Achasta. Gorgeous course and great scenery. Course is in very good shape and from the Blue tees, offers a good challenge. Highly recommend a round or two here!
Best Course in north ga
Ive played a lot of courses in north ga but this is by far the best i have played maybe the best course i have played in the state Will def be back Just amazing
The reason this course is in financial trouble is that it doesn't get enough play. $85 for a tee time - absolutely horrible. $57 for a twilight tee time - stupid. Nice course for those who can afford it.
Another Jack Nicklaus course
The weather was hot but the course was great. Greens were true and moderately fast. The Chestatee river meanders though this valley course and comes into play on many holes. Some par 4's are driveable if you are a long hitter. I'm not...but it makes for a short wedge shot. I made a couple of long putts for birdies but the water took its toll also. Great golf and the views are wonderful.
The course was in great shape and played fair for me as an intermediate level player. Open fairways on most of the longer holes and had a good flow from one hole to the next. A river runs through most of the course and the layout takes good advantage of play along and over the river. The elevation changes are moderate compared to most courses in No GA. Staff was friendly and helpful.
Great course top play
Best course I have played in Atlanta area. Putting greens are too challenging
Great course and Beautiful views
The course conditions and course layout was excellent. It was great to play a course at a little higher elevation to get out of the Atlanta heat. The restaurant left a little to be desired as far as selection. However the beverage cart had everything we wanted and needed. I would definitely go play the course again. It was fun and enjoyable with great conditions.
Nice Course but Disappointing Staff
The course was very nice. I was very disappointed by the pro. We booked the tee time online for 3 for a very good price. We then called immediately afterward to add a fourth. The pro agreed to add the fourth. When we arrived, the price of the fourth was double that of the rest of us. The pro never mentioned when we booked the fourth that the price would not be the same as the rest. I felt he deliberately misled us. I will not play there again.
