immaculate condition
This is my new favorite course! Excellent condition, very nice practice facility, friendly staff.
Great experience.
Really surprised how enjoyable this was. Gorgeous views from the clubhouse, traditional North Carolina looking course. Loved the layout of 17 of the 18 holes. From the tips would be all you can handle but we played the blues and had a blast. Course condition was great, greens putted true and with good speed. Really one of the best courses I have played in the Atlanta area and for $42.00 which included all the range balls you wanted, can't beat it. Looking forward to playing again now that I have a little course knowledge.
great course
great staff , i will return, i would recommend this course to 12 handicappers or less ,
Another Hidden Gem!!!
I have always loved this course and if I lived near it I would definitely be a member. It is flawless. The superintendent needs a raise!
Our group of players are all 2-6 handicaps and play everywhere private, and public and this course gives Piedmont Driving Club a run for the overall conditions and we played out there a few weeks back. Fairways perfect, tee boxes at a great height, and bunkers had good sand. Bunkers have the proper amount of sand. Not too much like a lot of golf courses.
Crystal Falls is Beautiful. Go and you will be back. Great job to the whole staff for running such a course in the middle of nowhere. Kudos.
North Metro Golf
The golf course is in great shape. Best I've seen in the Atlanta area.
Awesome Golf!
Greens had been aerated about 10 days prior to play but still smooth and true. Nice wide fairways and challenging bunkers near the greens. I'd go again in a heartbeat!
Best Kept Secret
While staying at a local resort my sons and I wanted to play a round during the week. the resort coarse was relatively expensive so we expected to find a sub-par (no pun intended) coarse nearby. One of the locals told us about Crystal Falls. We booked on line for a great price and were shocked when we saw the coarse. The most amazing fairway and greens conditions I've seen in a while. I'm from Jacksonville, Florida and play TPC at Sawgrass annually. The greens and fairways here were comparable to there's! A very open coarse but the greens were well hidden as to keep you in the hunt. Don't miss this one when in the Dawsonville, GA area. Bring sunscreen.
Eh, So So...
The course is pretty and has some great views. No houses to contend with, but not sure where they got the name as there are no falls and not much water to speak of. Most of the fairways were wide and playable. We were told the greens were fast, but they were not consistent. The course plays pretty long even from the white tees and is challenging, but not overly difficult. The biggest negative was that they had no drink cart at all and we started at 11:30 on a Saturday. Due to pace of play we were out on the course for about 5 hours with only the turn as a reprieve.
The staff was pretty friendly, but the members were not so much. Our group was sandwiched between 2 foursomes of members. The group in front was in slow motion while the group behind us had to be racing. At one point they demanded to play through despite the fact we were stuck waiting at every tee box after about the 4th hole because of the group in front. After we explained it wasn't us holding up play, they got rude and stayed on our heals the rest of the afternoon trying to rush us, even after they realized we weren't actually the ones holding up play.
Overall, the course was nice, but not very memorable. Honestly I don't recall a single hole that really stood out. I won't be back due to the rudeness of the members we encountered. Even the guys hanging in the clubhouse after their round weren't very friendly. If you can find a hot deal tee time, it's might be worth playing once.
Hidden Gem
Too bad this course is off the beaten path. I'd play it a lot more but it is definitely worth the trip. First class layout. Staff treats you well. I will be back for sure.
No Such thing as cart golf at the Falls
Crystal Falls is a "private" course located in the Appalachian foothills of Georgia. Upon our arrival, we were treated very well in the pro shop; and the starter allowed us to golf as a twosome as opposed to being paired up into a foursome. The course, overall, is mostly in good shape, although some golfers did not fix their ball marks or rake the traps. This was only seen at the course's toughest holes and may have been done out of anger from taking a snowman or more! That said, the course is ultra hilly and demands very good tee shots. From the whites, about five holes played well over 400 yards--a few reaching about 440 (a bad tee shot and the hole became a par-5). Even with a cart we walked just over five miles, and that was not because the holes were off limits to carts either (except for one of them). I'd recommend this course for $40.00 just to get the feel of what a private course has to offer, but for the same or less (depending on the Golfnow deal), I'd rather play Reunion or Chateau Elan-Chateau course. The views, though, are very nice, the greens are hard a slick, and the rough will most likely cost you a stroke or two! So, aim straight but be prepared to hit your next shot from a slight slope as the fairways are hilly and undulating. I would definitely play it again, but would definitely hope my driver is getting me at least 240 or more off the tee.
Challenging Test
Had a great time at this facility, again. Range balls are provided, the practice area was in good condition and the quality of the range balls were normal to good. The starter let me go as a single. I could see two foursomes were ahead of me, one group in the fairway and their wives waiting tee off from their tees just behind them. The starter was friendly and gave me the typical rules. A group of members arrived at 1 tee box and only one person voiced his displeasure loudly because I was being allowed to leave as a single. I spoke to an acquaintance in that group and advised him I would play as quick as the groups ahead of me would allow me to do so. The teeing areas and fairways were in great shape. The greens needed some attention, mainly a class on how to repair ball marks. I waited on every tee box through nine holes, which wasnt a problem. The members behind me never caught me. I thought the groups ahead of me were playing ready golf and I had no complaints. The two foursomes allowed me to pass at the turn and I didnt catch anyone until the 13th. Playing from the blue tees was the perfect challenge for a 10 handicapper. The sixteenth hole is my nemesis and I struggled to reach the fairway because the blue tees were pushed back to the tips area. Great course, friendly staff. Easy par 3s and challenging par 4s and 5s. My only complaints are golfers who cannot/ will not repair ball marks on greens and the lack of a Friday beverage cart.
Good
Good & enjoyed!
Too far from my house.
Good weather play!!
Great Layout.
Course was in GREAT shape, Greens rolled well and was also in Great shape.
Great value and fun to play.
Excellent Course, Highly Recommended
For 24 dollars, this was easily the best money I've ever put into a course. The tee boxes were perfectly manicured, the fairways were in excellent shape and the greens were well kept.
Staff was minimal but very friendly. Unlimited range balls was a nice plus. There was no traffic or waiting on the course and pace of play was ideal. Level of play was very enjoyable. It's a fun course that leans toward being more forgiving.
As it is in the foothills, the scenery is beautiful on a few of the holes.
LOVE IT EVERYTIME..
I look forward to playing everytime I get a chance too.I love that there NO homes on the course and it's always in good shape the greens were alittle slower than normal but that is not a bad thing concedering they are usually pretty fast. If you get the chance to play here....DO IT you wont be disappointed.
range
$10 per person to hit range balls..really?! Other courses like Chestatee and Achasta include them in their rates. Be prepared for gun fire. It is right next to a gun range.
Peace and quiet, good course conditions
This is a hidden gem. It's out in the middle of nowhere, but well worth the drive. Very quiet and views of the mountains are great. Course is in very good condition. Greens are running a little on the slow side, but they are smooth. Layout is challenging but fun.
this course was in good condition and fun to play
Great time challenging but fair for average golfer.
Fairways and greens in very good shape.
Nice variety of holes.
Beautiful and quiet
The course was in great condition. The fairways were excellent. I love the serenity of this course.
Great course if you can get there...
Great course layout and in great shape. Community is still not built up after years of having a good golf course. Too far out of the way to have steady traffic on the course or the neighborhood it's supposedly located in. Do not play the tips unless you are long and accurate off the tee!
