Second hole, par-3, 182 (blues). A challenging tee shot, yet the hole becomes tougher when you land a good distance from the pin. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 07/21/2023

Fourth: The number 3 index, this par-4 or 424 will test your skills from tee to cup. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 07/21/2023

The par-3 ninth plays 197 yards from the blues. Its green is positioned and shaped like a Redan hole, but without the right-to-left cant. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 07/21/2023

The twelfth is named “Double Plateau” for its green, which means that the putting surface actually has three elevations. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 07/21/2023

The fourteenth, a par-4 of 418 with water on the left, is named “Plead,” and you may well find yourself begging it for mercy before putting out. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 07/21/2023

18th, par-4, 458: You’ll need to commit to your full swing (twice) to play a hole tagged with the name “Trust In.” Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 12/13/2021

16th: The short par-3 of 170 lives up to its moniker: “Fortress.” It’s green complex is built like one. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 12/13/2021

An earlier, summertime picture taken of the first hole, called “Road Out,” gives a glimpse of a green sided by a road (behind) and a pesky pot bunker. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 12/13/2021

The sixth–a.k.a. the “Red Oaks”--is index 13, but will still present a few problems enroute to a drive-and-pitch par. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 12/13/2021

“Timberlake” is hole seven, and the hole is all about avoiding the trees and playing some tricky angles from tee to green. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 12/13/2021

Opening Day At Oxford Greens Golf Club!
Played with my brother as a 2 some. The course is still very wet. The greens were slow and bumpy. You have to except that for early in the season. It was cart paths only as well. The driving range is closed still. The resteraunt isn't open until Wednesday. Over all the course is only going to get better over time. By May it should be good. Staff is great and course is fun too play. Greens are tricky and the course is long for some people. This track favors big hitters with a draw. Definely going to be back soon.
Not enough staff
The bunkers are atrocious, the restaurant is never open. It was masters Sunday, we would have probably spent 500 per person yesterday, but they never have staff. Hire more people and run the course how it should be run.
Great layout. Beginning to fade
Played Oxford annually for about 10 years. Hopefully the course conditions were more a matter of early spring and be corrected as season goes on. Sadly the tee boxes, particularly on par 3 and short par 4s are a mess and need considerable work.
Wet conditions led to an average day
While you might read my rating for The Golf Club at Oxford Greens and conclude that the course is not a good one, the wet conditions on the date I played really impacted our round. I think Oxford Greens is one of the better public courses in Connecticut. However, wet conditions and paying $75 in March (when the greens and fairways were soaked) ultimately led to my poor review. Management should take course conditions (cart path only, slow pace of play) and price the round accordingly.
March golf
Always enjoy Oxford Green. A little cold and windy this morning and wet after all the rain. However, despite the early season course was is decent shape and greens were rolling well.
Bring your own food and water
No water on the course( STILL on the covid thing?) Ridiculous. No beverage cart, no refreshment stand.
And, here's one for the suggestion box.. when your greens are aerated, let the players know during the booking process. Bunkers look like they haven't been raked in weeks, hard pan mud.
Other than that, we all know this is a great course and a fabulous layout
Course was tough!
Oxford Greens was in great shape, but the pin placements were brutal. One of the hazards of booking by yourself is you play with strangers. The starter made a poor decision and made me give up my cart and ride with a difficult person. This completely compromised my round. Too bad, because the course was great.
Slow
Course is in good condition with good variety .
Pace of play very slow..took over 5 hours!
My favorite golf course!
The tees are in very rough shape but it’s still my favorite course to play in Connecticut!
Great Course has a private feel while being public.
Was a great challenging but easy to play course. Highly recommend it for everybody.
Tough course, fast greens
Fastest greens around, very tricky course. Bring lots of balls.
Has gone downhill fast
This used to be one of my favorite courses to play. When we showed up on Sunday, we were able to tee off seven minutes early. There was nobody in front of us, and nobody behind us. Within three holes we caught up to the group in front of us and they had no one in front of them. This slowed the pace of play to an unbelievably slow round of golf, and we didn’t see a Ranger all day to fix the issue. This course used to be in fantastic shape, which is why I recommended it to my out-of-state friends, and I wouldn’t mind paying a few extra dollars to play here. The round cost us $100 each, and of course was in mediocre shape at best. At least three of the par 4/5 tee boxes were complete dirt. There were several patches of the fairways and greens where there was just no grass, during a year where there has been more than average rainfall, and other courses are flourishing. On most of the greens, it look like there was no divot repair, and chunks of grass and dirt covered several areas (not due to aeration). The fairways were hit and miss at best. If the round we’re between $50 and $60, this would’ve been acceptable. I will not recommend this course until the conditions drastically improve.
Better the second time around
Traps dried out nicely. We got paired up with some good guys, very good golfers. Great day. Course is challenging but fair.
Slow Play Day
Teed off at 11:30, left course at 3:45 after playing 14 holes. Rangers were out but could not move groups along, especially on the back 9. Waited on every shot, two groups on each tee box. Threw in the towel and left course early. Never again on a weekend.
