Bad course management
Very poor course management. Booked a tee time one week in advance. They did not tell me they would be punching and sanding the greens the day before. Who does that in august. They called the the night before our tee time at 6pm to tell they had sanded the greens, to late to book another coursr. The next day when we got there they told us it was cart path only. Could have told us the night before on the phone when they called. Course layout was good. So we're the greens and tee boxes. There was no need for cart path only, the fairways were dry. All in all it was very bad experience because of poor course managsment. They need to change some t hinges before I will go back or recommend this course.
Things I liked:
- Paired with friendly people.
- Course was in good condition given storms the day before.
- Private club that opens its tee sheet to the public.
- Some interesting design with doglegs and a few blink/hidden tee shots... but nothing I would consider "tricky."
Things I did not like:
- Green has a lot of marks from unrepaired ball marks (repair your marks!).
- Pace was slow, and didn't seem to be monitored.
Things important to me:
- This is a subdivision course that plays thru a housing development. As such, I rode in a cart and would not recommend walking.
- Don't recall any water coolers out on the course.
- Pretty cool branded ball marker.
A must play any day!
Kansas City boasts some remarkable course like St Andrews , Overland Park golf course and Sycamore Ridge to name a few.
This course is a gem and is worth every dollar of the green fee.
The staff inside was very cordial and engaging which is what most golfers like : a staff that is happy you came out.
Coming in from Oklahoma for the weekend and being able to play here made things so much nicer overall.
This course is remarkably fair for mid handicappers , has great greens and the fairways boast zoysia grass which means if you hit the fairway you’ll have a great lie.
Will definitely play again.
Excellent Course and Staff
Falcon Lakes has become my new favorite course. Although the drive from Leawood is long, it is well worth the experience. Green, fairways, tees all excellent.
Staff is super nice too. Just need warm weather to get me back there
Best Course Wver
Exceptional course conditions; others would agree! All of the credit should go to the hard working staff in making everyone feeling welcome and appreciated. Check out the full operating and full menu restaurant; second to none especially with outside dining. Love the course.
Late season deterioration
Greens and approaches are somewhat pocked and uneven. Lack of rain in past month no help.
Love this course but....
Pace of play was an issue. Marshall didn’t address the slow groups in front of us.
Nice course, but slow
On a Wednesday afternoon you would think it would be faster. They need to move the slower groups along.
Nice course
Course was in great shape and the greens were very fast. Only down side was pace of play but all in all a great day.
Nice track.
Very nice course. A little on the slow side. Long way between green and tee box. Take advantage of calling in an order at the turn. Number 10 is nowhere close to clubhouse/grill.
Very good course and I will go back to play there.
Excess fees
Course was great. GolfNow fees added $5 to what a regular weekday Senior rate would be. Better to just call the course.
Wide open and well kept
This is a golfers course. Wide open fairways but it has some holes with significant elevation change to break up any potential monotony. The layout is excellent and keeps the pace of play up. The price is a little higher than average but for that the course is well maintained and the carts have some of the most comfortable seats I’ve been in. There’s no GPS in the carts themselves which keeps it out of a 5 star for value for me. Overall I would highly recommend this course for high handicappers and low handicappers looking for a nice leisurely day on the golf course.
David, we appreciate that you played Falcon Lakes and took the time to review our course. We are pleased that you thought highly of the layout, greens and tee boxes. Although the greens remain quite playable during the aerification process, we add a notice of our aerification dates above the online tee sheet the week prior to aerification. As a courtesy to our golfers who book their tee times over the phone, our staff notifies them of aerification, and we also make every effort with those who booked online to follow up with them with a phone call to make sure they are aware of aerification. We apologize that you felt our phone call did not allow you enough time to book another course. As for the cart path restriction, we received a record-setting 6 inches of rain Monday evening. It's a fine line between protecting our great course conditions and allowing carts off the path, and we appreciate your understanding of our desire to keep Falcon Lakes ranked as one of the best public courses in the metro.
