Nice layout.
Cancel my 1st review as I did the wrong course. It was in the mid 40's and wet/muddy. 4 - 4's & 5 - 3's with 2 3's over 200 yds. Longest 4 is 442. Good for all beginners and some seniors/intermediates. Has a driving range and practice putting green. Built on a land fill and well maintained.
Nice layout for 9 holes.
In the mid 40's and wet. Built on a land fill but 3023 yards from tips. 2 - 5's; 4 - 4's & 3 - 3's. Longest hole is 535 uphill. if you only have 2 hours and are an average or senior player it's worth it. Advanced players probably not. If you have kids it's great.
To practice chip and putts
To practice chip and putts. A Residential Contructionis under way. Fairway needs attention as well as greens.
Fun and quick
Course was is good shape, except for the greens. They were beat up badly and could use more attention
Dust in the wind
Nice view courses but there are too many dust in the wind. because of construction nearby. Challenging course. Fairways a little narrow.
Greens is not bad condition. Driving range and putting practice area is good. The Staff in clubhouse was very friendly.
this course has good features
This course is great 9 holes for whom need to get experience on Golf Course
Hilly
Nice par 3 course. Challenging course. Good place to sharpen your iron play. Fairways a little narrow so if you have a slice or hook you may find yourself out of bounds. Greens in pretty good condition. Driving range and putting practice area is good. Staff was friendly.
Watch where you step
There was animal (dog or something else) in every green exept the first hole.
Fun, challenging 9 hole
We found this course on GolfNow and were pleasantly surprised. You never know what you will get with a 9 hole course, but this was challenging and a lot of fun. It's unfortunate there is a lot of construction nearby as this course offers some gorgeous views. I will definitely play here again.
Believe the yardages
After the first two holes(short), the course opens up to good play. I tried to over think the yardage markers, and paid strokes in the thick rough. If you slice and dice, bring extra balls(little room for errant). Hole 3 is a blind dog leg right. I hit the perfect long fade up over the corner, and found no ball. Fun track, course was immaculate.
Quirky Layout
Hilltop has a quirky layout. Some holes are short and fairly easy. Others are long and difficult. Playing from the blue tees two of the par-3s were about 200 yards each. One required a carry of almost 190 yards over a hazard. One par 4 was 410 yards uphill from the blue tee, 440 from the back tee. Conversely, two other par 3s were less than 100 yards. The elevation changes are interesting.
good for a quick 9
The course is in very good condition and good for going out for a quick 9 holes. The layout is very short (2 par threes less than 100 yards from the back tees) and the holes feel forced into the limited space.
Swing and pray
The holes on this course are either unbelievably easy or impossible to play. Some holes are just plain unfair. I'm a fan of tough courses. I like a challenge as much as the next golfer. But when you're basically swinging blind it kind of takes the fun out. Play at your own risk.
Not a bad little course
Hilltop is a perfectly fine executive course. There are 3-4 great holes on the course, a few fine ones, and two that are a waste of time. It's in pretty good shape right now. Staff is friendly and the pace of play is fantastic as everyone rides. I played 9 holes in less than 90 minutes. For a quickie, you can do wore than Hilltop.
Nice even in the winter
This is a nice course for a nine hole play and for practice at the driving range.
9 Hole Power Play
This is the 2nd time I played here. Usually I come here for driving range practice and once in a while I will play a 9 hole just for fun. It really is fun to play as the course has lots of up and down hills throughout the course. It is constantly being renovated and the construction site is next to the course. If you're into playing a short 9 hole power play, by no means this is the best course for the value. You get all the fun driving around the hills with cart and swing your best drive shots at either uphill or down hill. Next thing you know, you're on top of the hill looking down at the view of Kingstowne and rest of Alexandria.
Excellent course near DC
Hilltop is one my favorite 9 hole courses to play in the Alexandria/Fort Belvoir area. It's challenging enough to not be overwhelming, but also the red tee boxes are perfect to spend a round working on chips, wedge shots and short game. Their driving range is well lit and the staff is very helpful and friendly. Go to Hilltop!
