Great Course!
First time playing WindRiver and wasn't disappointed. A very challenging, but fair layout in excellent condition. The greens were fast and had lots of slope, but accessible pin placements. Will definitely return and being friends. Only negative would be they still are in a temporary clubhouse.
Windriver
Well championship course is right lol, if you think your a great player around the courses in Knoxville go to this course it will bring you back to reality. It is a extremely awesome course but very challenging and well worth the trip for the views alone. After playing this course then going to an easy curse you will feel like a pro lol.
A definite test of length and skill.
At present some fairways have become blighted. I don't know the reason but I'm sure that groundskeepers are working feverishly to get the fairways in question up to par. This is perhaps the most difficult and challenging courses in E. Tenn. and will test your skills from any tee position. Give it about a month and I believe the course will be in superior shape. Definitely not walkable.
Wedding Day Round
The staff here was awesome. First, the starter let me bit to some if his personal sunscreen. Then, at the turn they didn't have any hot dogs. They apologized and fixed some and brought them out to us in the course. As fir the course, it was in very good shape for the harsh Winter for the area.
Windriver
Greens had just been verti-cut. A couple of the fairways showed the stress of a cold wet winter Holes 15 and 16. Overall the course is in great shape, It was fun to play. Like to see a ranger on the course to encourage a faster pace /or allowing groups to play through slower groups.
great views challenging course
well played balls offer very good scoring oppertunities while poorly hit balls can be very hard to get up and down. the view and wildlife are breathtaking .staff are ultra friendly and helpful
rude golfers
Course was in ok shape, not great but playable. I shot my handicap from the blue tees so my complaint is not the course itself. I had signed up as a single and was told I had been matched up with a group of 3. At our tee time, the club had allowed them to come with 4 players so I was told to go ahead and play by myself. The twosome in front of me would not ask me to join despite the fact that we all waited on three straight tees! I ended up playing 18 stuck between a twosome and a group of 4, so I was waiting a long time on every shot but the group in back of me was getting ready to hit into me. I forgot to mention that the twosome would replay several shots, including multiple putts all the while everyone was waiting on them. I won't be coming back as no ranger, no discipline, no beverage/food cart.
Beautiful course, difficult greens
The most beautiful course I've played in East Tennessee. Well kept, and excellent views. The course was difficult and hilly, a great challenge. And the greens were very challenging. Awesome course to play, will definitely be back to challenge it again.
Best course in the Knoxville area for the money
I absolutely love this course. When I come to Knoxville I prefer to play it. There is usually very little play on the course which makes for great pace of play. The course is challenging; especially with back nine. If you can master the undulating greens you'll save yourself many shots. I played a few courses in Knoxville over the weekend and many were losing their fairways due to the cold winter. WindRiver is no exception; especially the back nine. Hopefully they can recover them.
Wind River
The course was great and the staff was the best. So far the hilight of our trip.
You'll have to use every club in the bag.
Swallow your pride and tee off from the tees that fit your handicap. Numerous side hill lies require concentration to prevent errant shots. Riding is the only option on this course.
Mountain course
Major slopes, hard degree of difficulty. From the whites it was a slope rating of 130 which is very difficult. Several holes were driving the ball up hill from the tee box.
Great course
I like this course because it is a challenge from the first tee box to the last green. Golfnow makes it a real value.
Rolling hills of wind river
The golf course is nice but probably paying more for the name than the actual course play. I will say they have one of the nicest driving range areas I've been to. I would only play there if I found a good deal on GolfNow.com.
Extremely challenging course for amature
Good waether and good facility, everythings are good. but very Extremely challenging course for amature golfer.
Tons of potential
This is the first time I've been back to Wind River FKA Rarity Pointe since they changed their name a year or so ago. Landed a good deal of GolfNow for $26/player. Really good value. Course is in good shape for this time of year. Greens exceptional, best I've played on this year. Punching greens on Monday March 10th however. Really a nice course, need to keep their rates on the low side for the next couple of years until they can get some traction and generate some revenue. Although I think the layout is better than either of aforementioned courses, driving distance a bit on the long side. Don't think about moving your rates to that of Willow or Avalon. Needs to be in that $40-45 price range even on weekends for it to continue to be a realistic choice for my group. Overall, glad it's still here, very good value, will return
Good Job
Course was in good condition, greens were a little faster than normal for this time of year which was very nice. Pace of play was a little slow but should be expected at a long course like this.
