Great course for the money
Fun track, course was in good shape, greens were running pretty smooth.
Course was in great condition following morning thunderstorms
Due to morning thunderstorms, it was cart path only, which contribute to a slow round.
Compass Point Golf Course
Compass Point remains one of Anne Arundel County's premier golf courses. The two courses, North East & South West offer golfers of all skill levels a great golf experiance & challenge. The greens are large, undulating, fast & true. I would advise that you arrive early because a few minutes on the practice greens is a must.
The Pro shop's office staff is very professional & polite. I botched my reservation splitting my 4some into two groups with different times; however Josh fixed the error quickly & got us out on course at the 1st tee time. Tks Josh!
Golf
Good courses, with both a links style and traditional tree lined course available to play. Course upkeep is hit and miss, this time was a hit. Great way to get outdoors and enjoy the weather.
Excellent 1st round experience!
BLUF- Great course in great condition considering the recent rain!
This was my 1st time playing at Compass Point and played the North/East course.
The weather was sketchy as we were playing early to avoid late day storms; nothing against the course. I have to say that the preceding week or so was VERY rainy and the course drains very well!
The fairways were in great shape, the rough was consistent but it was obvious there had been a LOT of mowing to keep them tamed. I mention it because there was a TON of grass clippings that crushed shoes and shots, but you really have to take that with a grain of salt. Nearly impossible to mow and collect clippings for the rough, especially with the tons of rain in the area in the last few weeks. Only slight is the bunkers- sand/clay and with the rain they play tough but that is what it is.
Will be back- Great course that hopefully has consistent maintenance!
Such a great course to play
Took my son (he is 37) here to play for the first time and I told him the course was really nice, he was impressed. Even the sides of the cart paths in the woods between holes was scored and over-seeded. The maintenance here is just excellent, so nice to see and so nice to play a course in great condition from tee to green. Had 3 birds so that helps the opinion a little bit. Will play again I am sure.
Great Rate & Great Course
I play this course at least 3 times a year however for the price I paid today I would play once a week. I've never seen the price below $50 to play this course. That's not a bad price however who could pass on a $28 w/cart bargain. The course is in great shape and the pace of play was excellent.
Course in great shape, enjoyed it
Looked like the greens were done a month or so and they looked good and rolled well. I appreciate the maintenance! Course in challenging and in nice shape. I enjoy playing the par3's from a strike-able distance for me (in the 125 to 175 range from the whites) Will definitely be back.
Best Conditions. Superb Greens
I played North/West at 5:00pm expecting to only finish 9 holes. Pace was excellent and I was able to force a second 9. Greens were in incredible shape although I repaired about 50 divots including my own. Tee to green, everything was in great condition.
Compass pointe
1. Was supposed to have a 906 tee time the person running the carts made us tee off at 855 because people were stacking up already. So the 2nd person in my group didn't even play because they missed the tee off and to quote them " I'm not paying for 18holes when I'm only gonna get to play 16 "as they had to go check in then come get a cart to catch up to us.
2. The group I was with played at a fast pace yet we still had 3 groups stacked up on one hole the entire day. Either tee times were not met or sent too many people to the same group of holes.
3. Just a personal opinion I don't feel the course is worth $65 or more.
Need to play again after fairways green up
I played on a Wednesday after we had a lot of rain on Monday. The course was still fairly wet, but to their credit, I could drive on the fairways using the 90-degree rule*. It’s early in the season and the fairways haven’t had a chance to green up yet. I would have enjoyed my round more if the course was greener and the fairways were dryer. I played from the blue tees, the extra run out from dryer fairways would have been helpful. The greens are sloping and very fast, just the way I like them - no complaints from me.
The staff wasn’t overly friendly, but I found the starter to be very helpful after he figured out I was a first-timer at the course.
I need to play this course again under summer conditions.
* I’m always amazed how many people have no idea what the 90-degree rule means. Have they never taken basic geometry?
