Yeah I am that guy. Missed the fairway, got frustrated and totally missed on my next shot. Friends took a photo for proof. Photo submitted by currdog7 on 12/27/2012
A great day of golf that included seeing a turkey tom protecting two hens.
Playing this course was a pleasant experience from the time we entered the pro shop to check in until we finished playing 18. The course was in top condition and the view is awesome in every direction.
Great corse
The greens r really fast. Course is n good condition.
Very challenging course! Excellent greens!
Got a great deal on GolfNow. Awesome staff. Had lunch before our round. The 1/2 lb hamburger was great. Hand cut fries! Wife had the chicken sandwich on ciabatta bread with a side salad. She loved it. Great service.
The practice range was ok. Hit from mats on highly elavated platform. Helped with loosening up & impact, but not distance. Range balls were old & need of replacement.
Course conditions were very nice. The greens were spongy & stuck very well. Could spin the all pretty easily & they were some of the I have seen in awhile. The fairways were cut nicely, but extremely sloped & challenging. You must place the all well off the tee or suffer the consequences. The traps had nice soft sand in them but needed work cutting them in & shaping them. They lacked definition. But, fairly easy to exit out of. Many blind shots off the tee & a ton of side hill / up hill / down hill lies. Anything out of the fairway is trouble.
Synopsis:
If you are looking for a very nice course, priced right, with lots of challenge, then this is a must play. Novices will struggle here & probably quit after 9 holes. But, the price is worth 9 holes. I will play here again & manage the course differently. The yardage book was given to us, & helped tremendously.
I shot a 79 & the wife gave up after 9. My handicap is a 7.
I call it the "billy-goat" course
After many years of playing in the flat valley .... this course was very challenging but FUN. I loved all the elevated tees ... and loved the yardage of the par 3s especially. If not familiar with the course .. it has a lot of blind shots. The pro shop was kind enough to give us a course yardage book. Our pace of play was "perfect" until we got to the 10th hole and suddenly found a man and his (beginner) son on the tee in front of us. They were NOT in front of us on the front nine ... so we thought this was quite rude not to mention it slowed our pace of play noticeably as we now had to wait on each tee. We did quit after hole #12, partly because my husband wasn't feeling well, but mostly because we were now having to wait for a twosome who had obviously cut in front of us. Other than that I thought it was fun to play but quite strenuous with the severe slopes on the course.Even with all the up and down holes I felt it was still very playable, even for a high handicapper like me.
Course was in great shape. Well worth the price.
Course is in great shape. Being a hilly course it drains extremely well. Both fairways and greens are very well-maintained.
Great staff and very helpful
Amazing time. Process was very easy. Checking in the staff knew that we had gone through Golf Now. All player checked in at different times and was no problem at all!
Great course for all around use of clubs
I have played this course a number of times and really like the course. Last time was a bit of slow play ahead of us. We were only 2 players so it was to be expected a bit. So we had some wait time and decided on the 7th hole to take a bit more time. We were confronted with the Marshall to pick up the pace. We asked if the players ahead of us were told the same and they told us no. I didn't understand why we had to play fast and wait so long. My guess is the group of 4 behind us complained. While we waited for the group ahead of us we filled divots at the tee to help keep it in good shape. We heard the locals, the 4 behind us getting upset. We had to wait anyway for the group in front. So needless to say we ended up sailing our balls over their heads. They need a better Marshall. We appoligized to the group in front of us because we were told to play faster. All the other times playing there we had no issues.
I hope they see this review.
this course is in good shape
The course is in much better shape than it was this summer. they seem to have their water issues straightened out.
Great Price for a Full sized cousre
Super value $. You can hardly beat the price. Sand traps need a lot of work. You get what you pay for and that's a bargain fee for a so so maintained course!
Nice Greens
Greens are best in the foothills with well maintained fairways, Bunkers need a little TLC but not a huge factor. Challenging hilly course with open layout. If new to the course use the score card for info on how best to play each hole. Some blind t shots but not a huge issue with the right shot. Walkable course if you like a challenge. Pace of play is usually less than 4 hours. Staff is friendly and helpfull.
Some of the best golf around for a reasonable price.
(could not change the slider bars for some reason)
Scenic and fun course
There's pretty much a dogleg on every hole and greens are fast, which makes it challenging the first time you play, but the layout is fun. Friendly staff. Played on a Saturday and it was pretty empty, though a couple twosomes caught up to our threesome on the back 9. Windshields on the carts would have been nice, but it's not a big deal. Great value--this course would be twice as expensive if it were in the bay area.
Tough in the warm months
This is a tough course when it is dry. A lot of blind shots and you pay if you go out of the fairway. I think once it cools down and gets water it would be a better course to play. The greens were in good shape, but by the end of the day I felt like I had been beaten up by a golf course.
