Needs TLC
Tee boxes - rough shape
Fairway - Spotted in areas.
Greens - bare spots- weeds- rolled OK
Layout - OK
Price to high for the course, This is a $50-$60 course at best.
Only would play again if in that price range.
Not good value
I like this course. The layout is good. The staff is super friendly. Unfortunately, it looks like the owners aren’t putting enough effort into maintaining the course. The biggest issue is green conditions. I played here 1 year ago and there were dead spots, but for the most part these spots didn’t impact play. This year the dead spots were worse and you could see the ball bounce/change course because the dead spots were deep into the green. I do not recommend this course.
Just a Thought
I like this place, and will continue to play here, but golfers who need handicapped assistance should take note. The carts are programmed to stop going forward when taken off proscribed pathways, which I understand. This limitation can be overridden electronically, but there remains many places where a person of limited mobility must walk too far or climb too steep. I walked over 80 yards to hit my second shot on a par 3 that had gone left of the green away from the cart path. Fortunately I am recovering well and soon may not need accomodations, but earlier in my recovery, I would have had to abandon balls and eventually the round prior to its completion. Before anyone else says it, I realize that if I would hit the ball straighter and with more consistency, the problem would not be as severe. I am working on improvement in all areas.
Good but slow
Course was good challenging enough not very long. Conditions were as expected for the caliber of golf advertised. There were two threesomes in front of us playing from the same group and no one in front of them and they refused to let us play through so maybe some monitoring of pace of play would have been good. It was annoyingly slow.
Got irrigation?
Maybe they could try watering the tees.. parched and thin. Most greens we overseeded but rolled pretty well. The untreated greens were half the speed, so lots of puts. $74 is a bit much for this course.
Older course , less well maintained than the member course. Fair value for money.
Great Value
Had a great time playing the Highlands Course. Played an afternoon round in about 3 hours. Course was in good shape and is a very nice layout.
Great Value!
This golf course is in good shape. The greens are nice, a little slow but roll straight. Everyone was very nice. Pace of play is a little slow but should be expected this time of year. Great value!
Getting Better
This course was unplayable last year but it seems like they are bringing it back to life. DO NOT PAY $88 to play here. Worth maybe $40. I don’t understand why they constantly charge so much for a mediocre course.
Not as advertised
The website for Highland stated that the practice range was available for members and for visitors with a.same day paid green fee. Upon arrival and after fees were paid, “Sorry you can’t use the range members only …” When we looked out at the range from the pro shop, there was no one even using it.
There’s no chance I’d ever recommend this course to anyone.
Good value
The courses is good value. Fairways are in good condition, no real problem areas. Greens are well covered, but a bit slow for my liking. Greens needed cut a bit tighter and rolled. They were a little bumpy at times. Overall, though a good course for the money
