Cross Creek Golf Club

I used to play this course often. The layout, while not long, was wonderfully difficult, with woods and water. Missed shots almost always drew a harsh penalty. While the layout has remained, the upkeep has not. It's clear that the new ownership has no interest in keeping up decent conditions - grass growing in the sand traps, parts of the greens aren't puttable. It's a shame.

Course conditions exceeded my expectations - fairways and greens in very good condition. Problem with this course and will always be until it is addressed is there is no forgiveness for errant shots which makes your average 18 handicap golfer not willing to play here regularly. Also, the 13th or 14th (the one that runs next to the ICC) needs to be completely redone.

Bottom line - GN gave me a great deal and if you can hit it straight, you will enjoy your round - I enjoyed 75 percent :)

The course is nice. It is laid out in a residential area, so houses and yards are very hit-able. The rough is sticky, and many fairways are tight. So, course management is the key. I'm not a very good golfer, but I did break 100 for the first time. I shot a 95, and only lost 2 balls on my round.
My only complaint is that at the turn we came in for food. It was a light sunday with virtually no one on the course, and their was nobody pushing us. When we asked to order food and drinks, we were told we could only get hot dogs cause they didnt want to cause a backup on the course. We were encourage to just order after our round and to sit and relax then. We ended up playing the back 9 hungry, and when we came to the clubhouse after our round, we were told the cook had just left, and that they thought we had left because our back 9 took 2 and a half hours. Since we were that last group out and no one was behind us they closed the kitchen early. Needless to say, the whole pace of play you can't stop at 9, but we closed the kitchen cause your the only group on the course comment seemed dumb to me.

Fairways were in good condition. Some bunkers were a little hard packed and rocky. Greens were recently aerated so a little bumpy and unpredictable but overall rolled pretty true.
Unfortunately their world-class hotdogs underwent a slight change for the worse -- no longer grilled -- but were told you could still request it grilled when you order. Now we know.

Course was in great shape and half the price of the Montgomery County courses.

Cross Creek is one of the nicest courses in the D.C. Metro area for my money. Very challenging layout (for beginning gofers like me, and it seems also for those who have been playing much longer. But this is the type of course I need to learn how to play - water on several holes, hazards, different elevations, long holes, shorter ones.. Some tight fairways. Some more forgiving. Will lose some balls for sure. But well worth it.

Course was in great condition compared to the last time I was there. Everything was well groomed, people were friendly. Had a great time!

Took good friend out for first time on this course...I had never played here before. I was totally embarassed. In fact, we paid for 18 holes but we dropped the cart off after 9 and left. I had a big headache as well I was so frustrated.

Weeds everywhere...on fringes, on greens, on fairways, all over tee boxes. Some water hazards full of disgusting black water with algae...one even had a black used tire sitting in it. Greens choppy and some fairways very damp with hazard sticks placed next to big mud pits churned up. Sand traps not recently raked and caked hard as dry dirt in some places with weeds growing up in sand. When putting ball was bouncing and turning green after green.

I cannot believe the condition of this course...so close to DC. Only good thing is that the two of us were not slowed down or being pushed from behind...NO ONE was playing...I think we saw maybe three couples in total on the front 9. Maybe the locals already avoid it.

This course has a beautiful layout and could be very nice but it currently is a dump. You cannot even bring your own drinks in a cooler bag in your cart onto the course. Come on! This course needs a completely new update and a completely new approach to maintenance. The young man in the golf shop was nice. We never saw the starter or a course official the whole day. I will never bring myself or a friend or business associate to this course again no matter how good the price.

Very nice course in good shape. Greens were a bit slow but very good. My main problem was that the distance from the tees on the card did not match the real distance of tee markers and the red markers were too short and white too long for a women player. Back nine is very challenging !

This course is beautiful and challenging. It was in excellent condition and has a wide variety of interesting holes. The greens were in great shape. I have only two complaints: 1) golf now charges too much for booking the T time on their web site; and 2) for the holes that are lined with woods, the woods are replete with thorny weeds that cut and slice you up when you are looking for your ball. Staff should do something about it because it is a serious problem.

You must be able to hit extremely accurate straight shots on this course.

Fair course design, with the opportunity to recover from missed shots. Very good layout, with fair greens for scoring, and good distances for each hole. The par threes look easy but have surprises for errant tee shots.

Slow play, 5 hr 10 mon to. Play 18. 99% of traps were not playable. Tee boxes had bare spots. Greens and fairways were nice . not for beginners, it is a tight course.

The course overall was in good shape. The tee boxes, fairways and greens were all in great shape. The bunkers need work. I was a single but caught up to a twosome in front me and then became a foursome by the 13th hole. Pace gets backed up because of the 14th hole. This was the only sore point. The ICC has displaced the original layout. Not much they can do about it. The course is narrow overall. If you are not accurate off the tees you are going to have a bad day. For $39 I found it to be a pleasant experience and will definitely be back to play it again. A no frills value course.

Tight course in housing development. Staff really nice. Generally nice fairways and greens. However, golfers here need to replace ball marks and Divots. Challenging test from back tees. I will play again.

This course is a great value for the money. The course itself is very tight with some of the toughest driving holes in the area. You can't miss left or right on almost any holes. You must play it smart and that's why I like to play it. Break out your "found" balls because good balls can be quickly lost.

Everything was great but no sand in the bunkers. Pace of play was slow

Overall a nice course for the money, back nine had a few holes I personally wasn't a fan of, but a fun round nonetheless
