Coyote Springs Golf Club
About
Coyote Springs Golf Club (previously known as Coyote Springs - The Chase Course) is located less than one hour from the Las Vegas Strip and just 45 minutes from Mesquite, Nevada. This Jack Nicklaus Signature Course is highly regarded as a must-play by Vegas golf aficionados. The course's stunning setting is sometimes referred to as "nature's cradle" since it's situated in a verdant valley completely surrounded by majestic mountains and peaks. While the scenery may be beautiful, don't let it distract you from the golf course's many challenges. Water and bunkers await you at almost every turn. One of the most memorable holes is the par-5 second, whose bunkers at the second landing area will force you to think carefully about how to approach the Augusta-like green. In addition to the golf course, Coyote Springs offers one of the largest practice facilities in the country. This 19-acre facility includes 13 target greens and a short game area for pitching, chipping, and bunker practice.

No drinking water on the course during extreme heat
I recently played in a2 day tournament here. Although the course is top notch, the service and accommodations were terrible. The pin positions on the first day were placed for touring pros. This led to back to back 6 hour rounds as these greens are lightning fast. They were placed short sided, on domes, slopes and near water. If you tapped your ball passed the hole you were sure to 3-4 put due to placements and green speeds causing the ball to run 20 ft past the hole on a 3 ft putt. Everyone had trouble putting because of this. The ranger was up everyones butt except for the culprits. He made sure that he spoke as people were getting ready to tee off as he did with our group and multiple groups. He came from behind to tell everyone that its their fault the course was slow which made no sense, why not start at the lead group and work your way back as rangers are supposed to do. There was 1 cart lady with not nearly enough ice or drinks for the full tournament. At least 2 guys had heat strokes. The employees could care less. Not one employee helped take care of or cool the guy off. This was bad as the nearest hospital was an hour away. There were no refill stations and they made sure to milk you of your money. There were no shuttles the the practice facilities as it is almost a mile away from the club house so getting out early to warm up was redundant and a waste of time. They are not prepared to host tournaments and it showed. The lack of empathy was the worst part. About 5 guys didn't show up for day 2 as a result of the staff and the lack of drinking water on the course.
To hot
114 was the temperature when we started. I made it through 12 before I started to black out when I bent over for the tee or to mark my ball. I could not cancel due to your policy.
We'll definitely be back
Great course, great shape and almost nobody there. It was hot but the course was still in great shape and the challenge for us was in the layout of the holes. We had a blast, even though none of us is all that good and the course is a bit challenging.
It's a bit of a drive but well worth it. We will definitely be back to play again!
A great annual round at Coyote Springs
After a few days of NBA Summer League a round at Coyote Springs is always fun and rewarding. It worth the drive north of Las Vegas, to play this Nicklaus course. A good challenge from any tee box with lots of challenges around the greens.
Great Course in Desert
First time here and great staff. Course is long & kept in great condition. It is about an hour from Vegas but worth the drive.
Course is in great shape
Greens are fast, course is in great shape. Play is slow.
Definition of a hidden gem
This is one of my favorite courses in the Las Vegas area. It’s
absolutely worth the drive. Go early and take advantage of the practice facility.
Great course and fun day-trip!
We thoroughly enjoyed driving out to Coyote Springs in June and playing the course. It was so relaxing being out in the middle of the desert on a beautifully maintained course. We're not great at golf by any means, but this course was just the right amount of challenge for us all. Highly recommend playing here; we look forward to getting out here again.
Wow
Worth the 1hr drive from Vegas. Will be back as often as I can it was a great course in great shape.
Beautiful, and tough
Really enjoyed this desert course. Very scenic. But the winds will wreak havoc on your ability to score.
Worth the drive
Overall course was in really good shape. The greens had healed up nicely from aerification several weeks earlier, although a few were a tad rough in spots. The fairways and tee boxes were both in very good shape overall. Overall is a fun and fairly challenging layout. Greens can be a bit tricky to read at times, just the way Jack likes to design them. For $69, this is an excellent value. The day before, I played a course in Vegas that was almost twice the price and not in quite as good condition. Staff was very friendly, especially the beverage girl. Overall, would absolutely play again, especially for what I paid for green fees. Well worth the drive out.
Not as good as advertised!
The staff was not very friendly. No help offered with my bag, the person handling check in was nice, but completely disengaged. The starter shoved a paper in front of my face for me to sign while I was on the practice green standing over a putt! The pace of play for the 10 cars there was atrocious. I waited 10 minutes on every tee box, and waited on every fairway shot. No marshal at all! No ice on the cart for a near 100 degree day, and never saw a cart person until the 10th hole. The halfway house they have was unattended and closed. No bathrooms on the course, or none that were signed. There were a few areas on greens and tee boxes that were already burnt out. This was the worst experience I’ve ever had at a course that has Jack’s name on it! This could be a fantastic course, but lots need to change!
A must have for your playlist
Love this course. Excellent layout. Always try to play here when in Vegas. Only critique here is that the pace of play was slower than normal and there wasn’t a ranger out there. The other thing is that the greens needed a mow. They were playable but hard to navigate the undulating greens when slow. Otherwise a can’t miss.
The course is a true challenge, so I get what you're saying about the putting. As for the heat, it looks like you're from AZ, I would think you would either be accustomed to it or had the sense to not schedule an important tourney smack dab in the middle of the 'nowhere desert' in July. Sounds like the cart girl and customer service was barely passable that day which made for the perfect storm. Hopefully your tourney players are doing OK now and the CS staff will see your review and offer up some compensation to make you a fan of their club. I know they take a lot of pride in the course and what they do.
