this course has horrible and terrible.
Each hole waiting time was 10 minite.
When i play hole #13, it's already over 4hours.
So
I could'nt finish all.
Worst golf course.
The fairway is too bumpy and had some bare ground spots.
The golfnow.com showed that the tax was included, but the course charged the tax for $33. ???
The golf course has beautiful 360 degree views
Driving range is old and needs to be modernized.
The course is beautiful and fun to play
Best Value on Oahu
I wanted to play a practice round before I played at Ko'Olau and Royal Hawaiian, so I came here first. I wasn't expecting much because of the lower price, but I was quite impressed. It's a really fun "Hawaiian Links" type course, with some really pretty views of the Ko'Olau mountain range. I was able to play a round of golf with free transportation from Waikiki through HiGolfGuide for under $100. It's not the greatest course in Hawaii, but it's a great value for the price. The best option for those on a budget, and perfect for the less experienced golfer. I'd play here again.
Lots of water down the sides of the fairways on the front 9
The course was in pretty good condition. The fairways were nice and green. The greens need to be cut as the grass was to long.
Olomana Golf Links, a local favorite
Tourists staying in posh hotels won't dig the charms of Olomana.
It's a locals hangout because of its affordable tee times. In full disclosure, I haven't played Olomana since my first trip to Oahu way back in 1997, but I did stop in to take pictures and tour the course in 2013.
It was just as I remembered it. A Low-key vibe. A little scruffy. Overall, some nice hills and solid holes.
A 13-year-old phenom named Michelle Wie learned to play at Olomana, which is located on the windward side of the Ko'olau Mountains about 35 minutes from Waikiki. President Obama has played there a time or two as well.
The CEO of Pacific Links International, the new owner of Olomana, promised me that upgrades will eventually happen. Olomana could use a little TLC to unlock its potential.
Beautiful scenery. Not bad greens.
Its been a while since I played but still same old course. Play was a bit slow but what I expected on a Saturday. Course its self looks good. I forgot how bumpy the course is.
Not long but challenging
This course touts itself as "links-style". What this mainly means is the fairways have a lot of undulations. Go slow with the cart or your "okole" will bounce off the seat. You will have difficult lies. Front nine has more water hazards; back nine much more hilly. Course tends to flood in heavy rains. Some fairways lack grass. Greens can be inconsistent at times. Overall beautiful, relaxed setting. On clear days the Koolaus are absolutely beautiful, especially with the morning sun.
Fun Course
This north side of Oahu course is a fun course that tests you when the Trade winds are blowing. On a calm day, it's relatively easy. On a windy 20 MPH day, the 1st, 2nd, 7th and 11th holes can be real challenges. The greens are always nice and maintained very well. THey have just enough water and trees to keep you focused on where is this shot going so I can make my next approach. Some traps have a good sand base, bit a few are like hitting off concrete with a thin sand layer. These are a real test.
Food and beverage in the restaurant are pretty good. Their club sandwich seems to be the best buy.
On the fence with this course
This is course is good value for Hawaii residents. As a visitor I couldn't imagine paying regular rack rate. My only knock on this course is that they pack on the tee times and they allow 6-somes, creating a severely congested golf course in most situations. This particular time we were completely surprised and finished in 3.5 hours only because we got out before all the big groups. At one of the turns we saw for golf carts and an 8-some!
Another time we played it took an hour to finish one hole. The first tee was stacked 6 deep. We left and played another nearby course.
Overall, the course as a golf course is a fun one but, the way it is operated is very poor. If you book a tee time here expect a much longer than normal round time.
2 different 9's
Very fun course! Front is moderately flat with 3 par 5's. Back is challenging with rolling hills. Dog legs, ditches and OB make for a fun course. Great view from the back especially. Staff was very friendly and knowledgable. Pretty good restaurant for after golf activities. (beers and burgers)
Course is well maintained. We played after a ton of rain and the course was still in great shape.
Relatively easy, not in great condition.
This could be a good course because of the layout and the interesting holes, but much more attention will have to be paid to maintenance etc. Fairways are not good; greens are OK. It was slow the day we played.
Beautiful location and setting, but course in rough condition.
Standing water on a number of holes. Fairways in rough condition. Got a discounted t-time. No way would pay full price.
This course is average for a muni
I play this course every weekend because of the convenience, the staff is friendly and the casual attitude is nice. But, they have new ownership and the prices have gone up. If they are going to raise the prices they need to do a lot of work on the fairways. The fairways are riddled with holes and uneven play, and sparse grass. You'll need to move your ball to grass on almost every shot... The layout is nice and the views are great of the Pali Mountains. The prices are now equal to other very we'll maintained courses on Oahu. This course needs work....I would rate it just below average....
Not worth the green fee.
Half of the golf course was flooded and the bad smell of stagnant water, golf carts were in bad shape.
Compare to your average Municipal Course
Played here on day two of our vacation and was not impressed. Fairways were dead and the greens needed to be cut. The group in front of us was playing a six some and apparently there is no dress code. There are too many great courses on the island to play here. Near the bottom or my list.
Good Enough For The President, Good Enough For Me!
I always enjoy playing golf at Olomana as this is an “ancient” Hawaiian golf course with the attributes of a classic track and at the same time, work in progress! As with most courses under new ownership, the course is undergoing improvement and enhancements. The staff is excellent, the course needs work from the standpoint of unintended fairway hazards with dips and valleys, greens with unknown issues that make them inconsistent and difficult to negotiate. I suggest you play the course and make up your own determination of difficulty, playability and enjoyment. President Obama makes this track an annual event, and if it is good enough for him, it’s good enough for me!
nice scenery, just not the course itself...
Fun course but of course could be way better if they fix it up and patch the fair way and actually had better carts... awful shocks and makes it worst when the fairways are bumps her and there...bad lies whereever you ball lands on the drive...sometimes nice... need attention... badly...
Very slow play due to a big group before us.
Very easy check in and friendly staff in the Pro shop. Can't beat the price I received on line.
Course was very dry but nice layout
Lady in the pro shop and the lady in the snack shack was rude and grouchy. Bought a beer and a bag of doritos and the chips was super stale and old!!
