Greens are challenging but fun
This course is in great shape. Very well manicured. The greens are fast and some have multiple levels which makes your approach shot a little more challenging. I could play this course everyday.

Course was in good shape, greens are pretty slick! Course is always in good shape---the greens were very fast-be careful
beautiful course
recently sanded so my putting wasn't the best, but everything else was great. many beautiful holes.
Not a flat hole to be found.
Overall impressions: Pretty course, great shape (aside from the greens getting torn up by inconsiderate players). Every hole is fun and fair, but there really isn't that signature hole. After playing my round, I had a hard time recalling each hole as they kind of all blend together.
Course was in great shape, greens ran quick. Some of the hole locations were silly - placed on hills and such.
Pace of play was really good for the most part. I used GolfNow and was supposed to play with a 2some and another single. The starter let the twosome play early, so they ended up joining a twosome in front, leaving me and the other guy. Not a huge deal, but we ended up waiting on a number of holes. Still, for a Sunday afternoon we played 18 in under 4 hours.
If you are playing the course for the first time, I'd recommend playing with someone that knows the course. Because of all the elevation changes and overall layout, it isn't the easiest course if it's your first time.
Good Condition
This is a very nice course for the money. Just a little bit out of the way, but worth the drive.
Winterstone
The course is still in excellent shape the pace of play was horrific. It was okay a hole them wait 5-10" to play the next. The course marshals were useless if you don't help control everyone's pace of play . A 5 hour plus round is B A Dp
Nice course for a steep price
Nice course in good condition. Had a very slow foursome in front of our group, which happens from time to time. However the frustrating part was that the course marshal watched them multiple times during the round and did nothing to get them moving even after our multiple complaints to him. Overall it was a nice course in good condition and fun to play. That being said I'm not sure it was nice enough or unique enough to feel like I got a great value for the $55 I paid to play it.
Nice course
The course was in very good condition. It was challenging but still fun to play. The two things that I didn't like about the course was the price and the pace of play. I paid $55 for a Saturday morning tee time, which I feel was a bit high for the course. Secondly, the pace of play was very slow. My group had a VERY slow foursome in front of us, which happens from time to time but issue that I had with this is the fact that the course marshal watched them multiple times during the round and even after we told him about the problem multiple times, he didn't say anything to get the foursome moving. All in all it was a nice course and fun to play so I would still recommend it to anyone who hasn't played it.
Beautiful and long
Very long course but it's beautiful. It was pretty busy but it wasn't too bad a wait. Getting to drive only on the fairways was unique and made it faster. The range is a good value as well. I recommend this course.
A gem in the rough.
This course in kinda hidden, lived in KC area for years never played it till now. This course was in great shape, really nice layout and challenging holes. Price was a little high but worth the price and drive. Some holes have force carries and can play very hard for beginners. Has some tight spots but overall open course. Greens are put in some tricky spots near or next to hazards. Can play long if played from the tips.
Not a level lie anywhere!
Winterstone will keep you on your toes. You have a couple longish carries over water on 10 & 18. Uphill holes and downhill holes, short par 3's and long par 3's so you will use most of the clubs in your bag. Lots of mature trees and a creek that meanders through, just to keep you on edge. However, a tee shot in the fairway, doesn't always mean a comfortable second shot, most lies will be somewhat awkward, challenging your set up and ability to stay with the shot. Most errant shots will find trouble of one sort or another, and you'll have to really work to keep it from costing you more than the one shot.
Go you'll have fun!
Excellent course close to everything.
Had a great day , course in excellent condition. Greens were fast but true. The staff could not have been better. The course is challenging for the beginner or expert.
Winterstone
Enjoyed everthing about this course. Will definitely be back.
Surpassed expectations. A MUST PLAY
I had never played Winterstone and wasn't sure what to expect but I am so happily surprised. It turned out to be in my top 3 favorites in Kansas City. Great location, and great facilities. We went while they were holding a scramble and it turned out to rain a little bit so pace was slowed down but to be honest, it made it that much better to play there and just enjoy the scenery. Big credit to the course architect in 2003. AMAZING COURSE LAYOUT!!! It's gorgeous, tough, and extremely fun to play each hole.
Highly recommend to anyone and I will be going back. Can't wait to do so.
Nice course. Will play again
Very nice course, well kept. Some challenging holes and some ridiculously short Par 3's.
All the whole seemed manageable. I often like to walk the course but this one probably has more ups and downs than I'd care to walk. (But I would not change it.)
My only complaint is the group behind us hit into us a couple of times. I thought the pace was fine for a weekend but I guess they disagreed.
Beutiful course
Considering all the rain we've had this course was in great shape! First time playing this course and will definitely be playing it again! Loved it!!
Very nice course
This is a very nice course. It was was wet but still in great shape. Its very picturesque. The staff was amazing and friendly. It was my first time out there and they made sure my round was fun.
Beautiful Course
This is a beautiful course in the area. It's incredibly unforgiving to the gambler (there are 4 par 4s that are reachable from the box), play it safe and short. Course was extremely soggy when I played, so everything was plugging. I'll be excited to play it again dry when there's some roll to it. Plenty of undulation and uphill/downhill. Overall a solid course.
Nice layout
There had been a lot of rain so the course was soaked. Greens had been aerated and had yet to be completey grown in. But the course was in really good shape. Fairways were good, greens didn't have bad patches, another week and they'll be perfect. Only paid $25 from Golfnow so price was right. Usually has a higher than average rate for public courses so I don't play it as often. It's a better than average course though, I'm just cheap. Fair and interesting layout without too many blind shots for players unfamiliar with the course. I usually play in the Northland, Hodge Park, Paradise Pointe. It's as good as last two, better than Hodge, not as good as Shoal Creek, but few are.
Great course.
Great course. Recently aerated, that is the only knock.
