Located along the shores of Choctawhatchee Bay, Shalimar Pointe Golf Club enjoys a scenic, rolling landscape dotted with trees. This often-overlooked golf course has been considered one of the Emerald Coast's best-kept secrets but the word is beginning to get out. The course, due to its challenging but playable nature, has been used for U.S. Open qualifiers and it was host to the Emerald Coast Tour. The layout features immaculately manicured greens that are framed by strategic bunkering and water hazards on a number of holes. The golf course is challenging but fair with five sets of tees to accommodate players of all skill levels. The course is Shalimar Pointe's main attraction but it is complemented by extensive practice facilities including an expansive driving range, putting green and chipping green.

We are going to charge them a whole lot even though it only cost us a little.

Absolutely do not golf here if you are a tourist renting golf clubs. Direct quote from the pro shop, “We are going to charge them a whole lot even though it only cost us a little.” ….. I strapped my rental clubs in and realized the cart did not have a key. I unstrapped my clubs to move to a different cart, and the pro shop brought a key out. I forgot to strap them back in. We moved the cart out two feet at a very slow pace, and the clubs fell and the driver shaft snapped in half. Clubs do not normally break at this small of an impact, so clearly the club was defective already from previous renters. We were in the cart for two seconds. The groundskeeper came over and said they might be able to just fix the shaft and brought us out a replacement. Soon after , we went through the pro shop to use the restroom and overheard a pro shop man with long gray hair telling another customer about the broken club, saying they “were going to charge us whole lot even though it only cost them a little.” Since the groundskeeper brought the club in, this man did not know we were the ones with the broken club. We used the restroom and then asked this man if we were going to have to pay for the club. He said yes, and it would be $399. I asked if they could fix the shaft and he said no, they couldn’t, and we had to pay for the whole thing. We cancelled our tee time after this horrible misfortune and knowing we were suddenly having to buy a driver on our vacation. When we were processing the payment for the broken driver, $426 after tax, I asked if we could keep the club since we were paying for it outright. My driver at home cost $350, so I know a brand new club cannot be more than $399. They told me they were sending it back to Cleveland to be fixed, which is a direct contradiction to what the other man told us when he said “it can’t be fixed.” They also told us this never happens. Clubs usually only break when someone intentionally breaks hits them on the ground or doesn’t know how to golf. Folks, do not golf here unless you can afford to pay $399 for the golf course to get a free driver out of your misfortune.

Not worth the money

Using Golf Now, this was the only course available at a reasonable time under $110 per player.
The best part of the course the sand traps near the greens. Other than that, there was sand in almost ever single lie, even at times, on the greens.
The fairway grass is so close to the ground that they look like a par three tee box; sand/seed mix poured everywhere because there are NO divots to replace.
The greens had something that looked like a dried green ash in large spots/ weird.
I do not like to assume but I doubt there is any irrigation on this course, including the greens.
Then there is the jet noise. That is not the fault of the course, but it makes the terrible condition even worse.
In summary, skip the course.
To say something positive the people and the pro shop are really nice

Great course to play

Fun day, weather was great. Greens are fast but coming out of the winter dormant season. It really hasn't been warm enough yet for the growing season to kick in so there was some bumpiness to the greens. This should be temporary until they really start growing again.

Worth the Price!

Course is always in pretty god shape, needs a little more attention to the fairways, but otherwise a decent and challenging course for the money. Pin placement was very challenging and didn't like that, we weren't playing in a tournament so not sure why the pins were all tucked away on the greens. Course card needs hole layouts and/or update to some GPS for yardage calculations on the course. Several holes have hidden shots and are layup drives.

Disappointing

I’d played solo in the afternoon. Disappointing considering the long time and large amt of money used to upgrade the course. Far too many patches and sand in the fairways and greens are embarrassing. Do something soon GM or you’ll start losing members!

Good Value

Due to poor weather it needs another month for the greens and fairways to grow in.
If you want to play an unrushed round of golf on fair layout with reasonable rates compared to the gulf coast courses this is it.
